In spite of the fact that they have only released 3 full length albums over a 12 year period, and 1 album in the last 9 years, Tool are one of the most popular hard rock bands in the world today, with their music containing elements of prog rock, metal, as well as a brooding arty feel that has meant Tool have developed one of the most adoring fanbases in music today. Boasting Danny Carey, viewed by many as one of the best drummers alive today, and the enigmatic Maynard James Keenan as a frontman, it is no surprise that the band have such a following, particularly after the release of 2001's "Lateralus", which saw them break through thanks to the release of "Schism"; one of the few Tool songs playable on radio. Their new album is projected for release in 2006, and seems set to be one of the most talked about releases of the year.

Yeah, too bad LP is insufficient. |
Yeah, too bad LP is insufficient.
Yeah, but if it wasnt for them, I might not be at this point today. Thats a scary thought |
The band I owe my tastes in metal most is Korn who actually have artistic crediblity in my opinion, just not lately. They were actually really good live.
Tool live sucks satan's balls AJIG.Linkin Park is gonna own this guys.
EDIT: Notice the bassist hasn't turned around yet.
That moron pissed me off. Destroyed that perfectly good bootleg... |
I was on the Korn train too at one point. Seeing them at Download last year was funny, it was me and my friends standing around saying "Man, this takes me back" and "Remember when we were younger, we used to go nuts to this song?"
|
i havent like korn since life is peachy
and i still like that album :D |
I still listen to Korn periodically but lately I've been sucked into The Odyssey by Symphony X. My god everything is just excellent on this album.
|
^ I didn't care for that for some reason... don't know why, it seems like somethind I'd like.

I don't care much for that album, except for Smoke & mirrors.. My god, that song blows me away every single time.. excellent opener |
Knifeboy you have the wrong album. You're thinking of Twilight in Olympus.
|
i really dont like the singer, but the music is great.
Im starting to like CoB a lot more... fuk the singer though |
Knifeboy you have the wrong album.
Oh shi.. I knew something was wrong.. . .But smoke and mirrors still rocks my balls |
The Odyssey is so freakin' awesome. The title track reminds me of the epic poem itself and every song is great.
|
^ Thats the one that jake uploaded right? I don't know, it was a bit to soft for my likeing, as well the singer didn't impress me much. Gimmi DT over them anyday. :p
|
Here, I'll upload two excellent and really impressive tracks. I think they are more talented than DT especially the singer.

... MORE talented then DT? Please man... don't joke like that. :D
I'd like to be proven wrong though. Edit: To many users downloading... :upset: |

Well the new and old bassists are better than Myung, Michael Romeo is better than Petrucci, Russel Allen is better than Labrie, and Michael Pinella is better than Ruddess (and more musical), Mike Portnoy however is a bit better than Jason Rullo. They're also really catchy which gives them the upper hand on DT.
I'll use YSI then. |
Michael Romeo is better than Petrucci,
you cant be serious. I mean the man is VERY good, but come on  |
Member vs. Member, Symphony X has no edge over DT in terms of skill whatsoever.

Myung and Ruddess are awesome.
Petrucci and Portnoy are overrated /downloads songs |
Myung and Ruddess are awesome.
Petrucci and Portnoy are overrated /downloads songs
Ruddess is overrated too by people that don't play classical/jazz piano. There's tons of people that I know personally that are better than him. I give him credit though for playing a proper piano. His technique is perfect. Basically when you get to the caliber of DT and Symphony X there's no way to tell whose "better" or more skilled. |
Then why did you say that Symphony X is better?

It's my opinion because I like their songs better and I have more respect for them as musicians. You actually brought up that you'd take DT over Symphony X anyday. I'd take Symphony X even though I loves me some DT just because Symphony X doesn't get tiresome the same way DT does.
It's also for the fact that people don't believe that there are better musicians than their precious DT. /biased |
