I prefer Justin over all to Paul. I dont know why there was something about the way he looked he didnt like.

Justin looks like a cool mo fo.

Danny looks like your uncle that wrestles with ye and breaks your back.

Maynard the gender questioning 2nd cousin.

Adam the Drugg addict cousin YAY.
That interpretation made me chuckle in the belly region.

Mr Herb 08-22-2005 06:12 PM

why does it just say tool now?

As far as Aenima goes, it seems like 46&2 was Justin's big showcase, and I'd imagine they wrote Third Eye with him as well. To me, it sounds like Stinkfist, Pu****, Jimmy, and Hooker With a Penis were pre-Justin tracks. Then, after Justin came in, they were exploring more sonically challenging material, which brought about several of the more gratifying moments on Aenima, and later Lateralus.

The reason I was thinking about this, is because I came across this website about Justin. The following seems like a big load of bull to me, but it just got me to thinking how much Justin influenced the metaphysical and "out-there" aspects of Tool's sound.

"Carrying with him a strange sense of alternate realities, Justin found himself able to access them through music and altered states of consciousness . When Tool needed a bass player in 1995 the journey to America seemed simple compared to the paths he had explored within his own mind. Currently Justin has been practicing entering hypnagogic states facilitated by sonic landscapes generated by his wife Ari and a highly specialized form of tensor yoga. These function as the arc and threads that buoy and retrieve him from the watery matrices and emotional labyrinths he explores. He then utilizes these experiences as a reference point in his riffs and style to induce a holographic depth to Tool's music."

Odd.

Syncratic 08-22-2005 06:18 PM

Back to the discussion:

Maynard is the shy one who hides in the back at the family reunion.

Justin is the one having a drink with old buddies at the pub.

Danny is the beastly dude who would crush you if you look at him wrong, but would still jam with you.

Adam is the one who would rather sketch a landscape while his friends were playing volleyball.

His basslines in Aenema, especially in the first verse, are also among his best on that album.

That's his bio on toolband.com. They're all like that.

Yeah. The whole power chords and pull-offs are superb.

Why..
Why..
I dunno......ask Ken, they did it with all of the official threads.

emo=elmow/otheL 08-22-2005 06:24 PM

Ive read things like that about the whole band, and I must say, even if hypnagogic-astral projecto-lucid-yoga-taichi-arc and buoy stuff is bull, it still messes with your head, thereby having an effect on the music. Any input into the brain will influence the music, whether it be seeing a tree or a car, or making eye contact with someone, absolutely everything that is detected and interpreted by the brain will have an effect on the mind. Input/output.
On another note...
Have any of you ever been to Toolpantheon.com? Its a great Tool site, with neat graphics, forums, etc, but I was just there and it was lifeless! Noone had posted since June, and before that there was a three year gap. This made me sad. *sob* But yeah, it needs a good revival.

That may be your best post.

Just don't advertise.

I wouldn't call that advertising.

Oh, I've never really read that. It seemed to me to be pretty much bull, because it's not really that well-written.

That's kind of what I was thinking about it.

Yeah, i've been there. There is full of things like quotes from the band and a hypotesis about how Lateralus has to do with the qabala.

Probably legal issues. These forums arent really endorsed by the bands so theyre not technically "official" per se...
Probably legal issues. These forums arent really endorsed by the bands so theyre not technically "official" per se...
Hahahha, not even close. One reason is because the mods are getting sick of people trying to make #$%#$&$%&OFFICIALLL#$%#$%#%#$%# threads for their favorite band.

Rothmans 08-22-2005 06:39 PM

I wouldnt say that, that is going a bit too far.

emo=elmow/otheL 08-22-2005 06:45 PM

Yeah, I take back the legal issues thing after reading a couple pages before this...

Otherside 08-22-2005 07:03 PM

This thread name lacks creativity :/

Kage 08-22-2005 07:04 PM

It seems in certain cases, lack of creativity is for the better.

Mr Herb 08-22-2005 07:10 PM

Lack of creativity?
It seems in certain cases, lack of creativity is for the better.
Like for naming forums, or elsewhere? Ive always found creativity to be very important. Please elaborate. :confused:

Kage 08-22-2005 07:11 PM

It was a tongue-in-cheek comment. Lighten up, people :p.

No seriously. You had me interested there. Ive never heard that before. Were you just commenting on the stupid names people were coming up with or what?

Kage 08-22-2005 07:17 PM

Yeah, I was pretty much refering to the stupid names for the thread. Of course, in most areas of life, I'd definately say creativity is for the better.

Darkness 08-22-2005 07:20 PM

I like the new Title a lot. :D

emo=elmow/otheL 08-22-2005 07:29 PM

Well, regardless of the title, what goes on in the forum will stay the same. That seems to be all that matters.

Am I mistaken, or is there slide guitar in the background during the quiet interlude/bridge part of Ticks and Leeches? Ive looked on several tabs, and havent seen it mentioned.
