Do one song from each album
Like:
Seek & Destroy
Creeping Death
Master Of Puppets
Blackened
Nothing Else Matters
Until It Sleeps
Fuel
No Leaf Clover
Frantic/St. Anger
That's a good idea, about doing one from each album. I'll talk it over with the rest of the crew.

Chu 05-29-2005 02:27 PM

I'd like to do something from the first 3 albums, I don't know if I'd want to do something I don't like :p

Thor 05-29-2005 02:36 PM

Yeah, everything past Black Album pretty much sucks. I would like to do some of these songs, if anyone in the crew sees this:

Blackened
Orion
The Thing That Should Not Be
Creeping Death
No Remorse
Battery

I wouldn't mind doing Creeping Death and The Thing That Should Not Be.
If the rest of you guys wanna do the other songs, I'll fit them in :)

JACKROXYOU 05-29-2005 02:41 PM

another set of favorites list

this list has been done at least 10 times

flamesofbodom 05-29-2005 02:43 PM

Do at least one acoustic song

Thor 05-29-2005 02:43 PM
Try reading stuff.
Way to set the record straight.

Anyways, after we do Seek and Destroy let's do The Thing That Should Not Be.
Do at least one acoustic song
I guess that is a good idea. If I had to do an acoustic song I would do Fade to Black.

JACKROXYOU 05-29-2005 02:43 PM

ah i see

my bad munky

I ask we don't do Fade To Black, the song is so good how it is, I don't even want to think what would happen if we ruined it :P
I wouldn't mind doing Unforgiven..

Maybe Sanitarium, that's pretty easy, and equally as good.

Sanitarium is a pretty good song, but Nothing Else Matters would be fun to do as well.

Chu 05-29-2005 03:02 PM

Yeah, that could be cool.

Thor 05-29-2005 03:02 PM

Just asking, why don't you have an avatar?

fatbandit 05-29-2005 03:05 PM

Bah, I see I have failed to gather together another band?

Out of interest, what program are you guys using to record? And which of you is putting it together/mixing?

Chu 05-29-2005 03:13 PM
Just asking, why don't you have an avatar?
Haven't found anything I like.

Well, I'm just going to use a microphone straight onto my computer for vocals, dunno how the rest will do their instruments.

Thor 05-29-2005 03:17 PM

Chu, do you know if you can put everything together and mix it? You are the last person to record, so just see if you can do it when you are done singing.

Sliptallica, how are those drums coming?

Chu 05-29-2005 03:20 PM

I doubt I can...

Thor 05-29-2005 03:25 PM
If you're using a recording program capable of Multi-tracking it shouldn't be too hard to mix them.
Do you think you can mix them for us? I'm new to recording so I don't want to mess things up.

I'm not going to be able to get it done as fast as we'd probably want, because my house is full of idiots. If anyone else wants to do drums, go for it.

How long are we talking? I don't have to have this done immediately, but sooner is better than later.

Huber 05-29-2005 03:35 PM

Thursdays are when my family actually leaves and I get to play, and I could do something then. This weekend however my family (except me) is going out of town and I could do more/better if allowed that weekend. Again though, if you can find someone else it'd be better. LarsAgi plays drums I'm pretty sure.

Thor 05-29-2005 03:42 PM

Sweet. Anyone else want to do drums since Sliptallica apparently can't?

I could do Seek and destroy tommorow, but I have a problem... I would have to record the drum parts on tape as thats the only method of drum recording that I have, How would I get it onto my PC? I could of course play the tape and record through mic??? But however the quality could be a major issue.

You can record to your tape player, and then just plug in the recorder through the line in. Then load up Audacity and hit record.

yea don't do fade to black. i'm not even sure why we're doing S&D either, it's too good of a song.

Sanitarium is pretty easy. we could do stuff off the black album too, because it wouldn't be too awful if we ruined it.

the unforgiven and the unforgiven II would be fun

Chu 05-29-2005 04:25 PM

Joe 05-29-2005 07:01 PM

well i'm write... i like all the songs on the cd but it wouldn't be a complete embarassment if we effed 'em up.

ok yea it would, but i wouldn't mind as much

Huber 05-29-2005 07:03 PM

Yeah, it'd be like.

"Oh well, atleast it wasn't Master of Puppets."

Send it to me and I'll just lay some bass down. I don't think that the quality will be that bad.

Chu 05-29-2005 07:07 PM

Maybe we should start with St. Anger :p

If you're worried about quality, do a lot of testing with the positioning of your recorder.

Whale and Wasp 05-29-2005 07:11 PM

I'll drink to that. My main problem is getting a good tone. I've actually used a bass amp lately, cause I want something with bottom end. But I can't get the gentle crunch that I want.

RustedPieces 05-29-2005 07:16 PM

You guys should do Orion if Chu doesn't want to do vocals. That would be pretty cool.

NoHero9 05-29-2005 07:26 PM

I wish I had a way to record onto the computer, it would be incredibally fun to record a song on here. :upset:

im no computer nerd, so if anyone has pointers....I have a little crappy tape recorder, and possibly a cord that could connect it to the computer, somehow, but I know nothing of this, any advice? I wanna record for this so bad.....

Huber 05-29-2005 07:47 PM

You should be able to record something to the tape recorder, then plug it into the line-in port on your computer, then get something to record with on your computer (I use Audacity and like it) then start recording with the program and hit play on the tape recorder.

Chu 05-29-2005 07:58 PM

Please don't get nerd and geek mixed up.

Deth 05-29-2005 08:14 PM

I stole this idea, and now we are going to do a cover in the Opeth thread. We should do a face off.

incubliss 05-29-2005 08:17 PM

what's happening in the world of Metallica these days?

new album?
new tour?

what's going on?

(there's ALOT of pages here, and i'm not gonna read them all, or search. the search is too vague)

I think the Tool boys are going to do it as well. We all can have a cover showdown. We just need to get all of the Official threads to do it.

Metallica took a vacation after touring and then they are going to enter the studio to begin recording their new album.
