Dr. Jake Destructo 08-22-2005 02:25 PM

Or a cool acronym for TOOL

The
Orgasmic
Ovulating
Lachrymologists

or

The
Obsessive
Omniscient
Lachrymologists

Any other takers?

It's just subliminal enough to keep out the uber idiot fanboy Tool fans, but obvious enough to own.

 Not bad at all.

Hey, can anyone upload the first part of the Oklahoma show? I never got my hands on that, and lately I've been wanting to watch it.

BlindWriting 08-22-2005 02:30 PM
I think just "Tool" would work.
Same, or even The Tool Thread.

I like that!

Same here.

Huber 08-22-2005 02:50 PM

The current title or Faith's suggestion are both fine with me.

Shadius 08-22-2005 03:02 PM

Ok, they're funny, they really are, but no ones going to have a clue what the thread is. Only when people start to wonder where the offical Tool thread went are they gonna start to wonder.

I'll laugh if we change it and people start making new offical tool threads because it's disappeared.

Anyway, something simple and easy to understand is best, this isn't a fucking clique.

Syncratic 08-22-2005 03:36 PM

Finally found it, guys!

Haha...so, any news today?

I'm swiftly learning the arp solo in Dream Theater's "The Glass Prison".

As for Tool, noparoony :(

Syncratic 08-22-2005 03:51 PM

Ah....a few more days left to August, I'm anxious to hear some news of the recording process.

They just played the bass riff to 'Schism' on MTV2's High School Stories (one of the few MTV shows I watch.)

Darkness 08-22-2005 04:05 PM

The Tool Thread is perfect... or even just...

Tool

Kage 08-22-2005 04:11 PM

I wonder where Tool would be today without the loss of Paul and the addition of Justin. Lateralus certainly wouldn't be what it is without Justin...

Oh, anyone willing to upload the Oklahoma video, I'd be really appreciative!

That's a scary thought. Lateralus would be completely different.
Who goes to the first post?
anyone who doesn't know wich thread this is? thus informing them

Syncratic 08-22-2005 04:42 PM

If Paul would've stayed...they'd probably be the same as the Undertow era.

Paul's tone was dirty and deep and grungy, really no variation.

Justin's effects and his knowledge of them gives Tool a good variation in sound.

Darkness 08-22-2005 04:58 PM

Paul didn't really have a chance to have variation though, I'm sure he would have progressed as the rest of the band did. He said himself he wanted to do something experimental.

Syncratic 08-22-2005 05:03 PM

I have a suggestion:

"Save Francis Beane"

Just kidding........

How about......

"Crucified Egos"?

Adam Jones is GOD 08-22-2005 05:39 PM

Tool will do, until we need the second thread devoted for the album. Then we can have fun making up names again

Syncratic 08-22-2005 05:42 PM

True, true....

Although, another cool title would be:

"Hole We Call L.A."

Adam Jones is GOD 08-22-2005 05:45 PM

No, bad choice, what happens if it gets corrupted, and the mods look at the instructions on how to fix it.

It seems like the mentality of the band changed once Justin came. Whether that was a result of Justin or not I don't know.
It seems like the mentality of the band changed once Justin came. Whether that was a result of Justin or not I don't know.
I think the band met some sort of middle ground. I can specualte, but before Tool, Justin, although dabbling in some, never went nutss with different bass tones and effects.

Now maybe it was the fact he was in a bigger band, meaning more money to spend on equipment, but he really started branchong out and testing out new effects and tones. Although it might have been Adam suddenly deciding to begin following Tom Morrellos example (or by own persoanl choice), and experimenting himself, which in turn, Justin followed.

But, who knows, but one thing is for sure is that any new musician is likely to bring new ideas and have an effect on a band's sound, which is probably the case with Justin.

Wow, look at that big circle I just went round

Didn't think of it that way.......

Rothmans 08-22-2005 05:57 PM

See the thing with me and justin is it seemd Paul went for a grimey dark bass line and it fitted undertow perfectly and it gave it an all round darker mood.

Then came Justin now Aenima was amde with paul in mind aswell pu**** is an example for me justin may have wrote the bass for that but it reminds meof paul.

Then salival where he showed a bit of what he can do.

Then came Lateralus Justins proper opening. Now extremely gorgeous basslines a lot of high neck and more beautiful and it seems he sticks on top of adam more so than buried under but you have to listen for it and he became a domineering power with Lateralus.

/Loves Justins basslines.

Adam Jones is GOD 08-22-2005 05:59 PM

I think Push1t was a post Undertow track, before Justin's arrival. I cant remember what tracks were done by Justin from memory, but it wouldnt suprise me if they were the darker Ænema ones

I prefer Justin over all to Paul. I dont know why there was something about the way he looked he didnt like.

Justin looks like a cool mo fo.

Danny looks like your uncle that wrestles with ye and breaks your back.

Maynard the gender questioning 2nd cousin.

Adam the Drugg addict cousin YAY.
