Windows is a good song.
and well, i dont get whats boring about a song that doesnt have repeating parts and still flows
...

hismajestythepope 10-06-2008 05:33 PM

thats not really a post deserving of a ... response bro

Stormrider 10-06-2008 05:35 PM

Yes. It's a pretty dumb thing to say.

hismajestythepope 10-06-2008 05:36 PM

idk my idea of a boring song is repetitive monotony, not spastic shi like ete

also, note that post was an opinion:
and well, i dont get whats boring about a song that doesnt have repeating parts and still flows
i mean it must be stupid if i have an opinion different than anybody who listens to realer metal than i do

Stormrider 10-06-2008 05:39 PM

My point was that whether the song repeats, or has "no repeating parts and flows well" like you said, both can still be boring.

hismajestythepope 10-06-2008 05:42 PM

i was saying that i find a constantly changing song that still flows extremely appealing, i mean, look at my tastes; early btbam, early as cities burn, underoath, etc.

McP3000 10-06-2008 06:03 PM
good picks but pretty standard (you said it was for people new to death metal so that makes sense though). only one i disagree with is arghoslent, although i question the at the gates and intestine baalism tracks cause i'm a bit skeptical about both, but i haven't heard either of those two songs so i can't judge how good they are. you should have put Slowly We Rot on there, because the slow riff in the beginning is one of the highest accomplishments of the genre.
umm why is there no Death song?

TimJim 10-06-2008 06:05 PM
Timjim: but you have a terrible taste

Steve: I hate both bands.
people keep telling me that and i dont know why

RouteOne 10-06-2008 06:21 PM

TimJim 10-06-2008 06:23 PM

the intro sounded like system of a down

Txus 10-06-2008 06:23 PM

you have a terrible taste though

hismajestythepope 10-06-2008 06:24 PM

best death metal riff is the slam part at the end of 'background music to her awakening' by august burns red

Tyler 10-06-2008 06:24 PM
umm why is there no Death song?
why didn't i think of that? good point. pull the plug would be a good one to start with, that one made a big impression on me when i was first getting into Death/death metal.

Tyler 10-06-2008 08:45 PM

Phobophile actually single handedly got me into death metal.

Deth 10-06-2008 08:47 PM

Phobophile is great.

As far as Death goes, I would go with Zombie Ritual because I find the subject matter worthy of discussion.

rattlehead42147 10-06-2008 08:49 PM

it took me 2 years to appreciate that song. i always skipped to the end and just listened to Orgiastic Disembowelment.
As far as Death goes, I would go with Zombie Ritual because I find the subject matter worthy of discussion.
yeah thats a great song but i have to admit of all the Death albums I've neglected that one the most. :(
speaking of Death have any of you guys seen these? i ran into the Pat O'brien one a few weeks ago then saw his nephew has one, i thought they were pretty cool (not Pat's playing, the interviews themselves):

Tyler 10-06-2008 08:52 PM

Fittingly enough, Zombie Ritual was the first Death song I heard and it sold me on them.

hismajestythepope 10-07-2008 06:31 AM

dong that got me into dm was either spheres of madness by decapitated or crown of horns by cryptopsy

Squirrel 10-07-2008 06:40 AM

pat cant solo for ****

and why does he sound out of breath all the time

and why the **** does he keep just hitting open strings and playing **** licks

he's talking about this guy that it was 'such an honour to know' and shi yet when he's talking in fond memory of the guy he cant stop hitting his guitar strings

rasputin 10-07-2008 07:29 AM
Fittingly enough, Zombie Ritual was the first Death song I heard and it sold me on them.
It was Flattening of Emotions for me.

pate 10-07-2008 07:49 AM

First Death I heard was Painkiller.

lol

masscows 10-07-2008 07:50 AM

First Death song I heard was something from TSOP

Story to Tell I think

hismajestythepope 10-07-2008 07:53 AM

first death song i heard was scavenger of human sorrow

TimJim 10-07-2008 08:42 AM

ive never heard any of their sheiss

hismajestythepope 10-07-2008 08:43 AM

he plays like mick thompson in that interview and yeah i thought it was kinda disrespectful to be playing (awfully) while talking about chuck. his nephew seemed to understand this. lucky bastard has the ORIGINAL chuck schuldiner stealth model.
theyre really really really overrated

the second statement answers the first.
if they never came out with symbolic they'd lose about 43623567257345 fans though.

Apocalyptic Raids 10-07-2008 09:59 AM
First Death I heard was Painkiller.

lol
UGH chuck's vocals on that are terrible.

first song that got me into death metal was at the gates - blinded by fear. i know the first one i ever heard was hammer smashed face, but that didn't really get me into it.

pate 10-07-2008 10:19 AM

Chuck's vocals on that are awesome.

Deth 10-07-2008 01:09 PM

His vocals are suitably metal and over the top.

I think the first real death metal I heard was Slit Your Guts and my reaction was UGH

Stormrider 10-07-2008 01:14 PM

First Death song I heard was The Philosopher.

Also, their Painkiller cover never bothered me.
