Tell her that Dashboard is a bad excuse to score girls, real emo wouldn't stand a chance.

Edit:
I don't know anything about that.

Hardcore is metalcore ?
Hardcore is punk with hardcore in it.
Metalcore has metal influences, more complex guitars, double basses... Go read the first page of the Hardcore/Metalcore Com. Thread.
Hardcore is metalcore ?
No, but thats what my sister thinks.
Tell her that Dashboard is a bad excuse to score girls, real emo wouldn't stand a chance.
Wouldnt work. Its just annoying to hear her put bands in genres nowhere near what they really are, then bash on genres she knows nothing about. Then after she thinks shes losing some debate about genres, she says "Shut the fuck up, its all just music".

Wow, what a bitch.

 I don't actually care what genre a band is as long as they make good music, but I still have a pretty good idea of what's what. I mix things up a little bit, but not too badly.

Hey my friends do that to. Or they will say, its just opinons. I mean yeah, borderline stuff is, but trying to put Taking Back Sunday into emo, and Senses Fail into hardcore, it pisses me off.

At least your friends have heard of those bands. My friends listen to all the pop/rap that is played on the radio around here, so I can't really even discuss music with my friends. I was listening to Scary Kids Scaring Kids the other day, and one of my friends told me he had heard the song before. Then I told him who it was, and he didn't have a clue what I was talking about.

TBS are post-emo.

Senses fail....i dont really know

And i dont care what genre of music something is, but genres are a necesary evil. Im not saying because something is of a certain genre ill dismiss it as awful, but my sister will, but shes a hypocrit that classifies anything she thinks is terrible under pop-punk, then labels every band she listens to as hardcore, whether they are hardcore or not.

And no matter what anyone tells me....post-rock is not a genre. It just doesnt sound right.

They freaking whore them, it annoys the hell out of me. They always argue over the lyrics, and then they always yell at me when I say they aren't screamo. For instance, There's No I In Team, has a few screaming parts, so that obviously makes it hardcore screaming. And one of them always told me that he liked knowing stuff about his favorite bands, and so I told him that story of TBS and Brand New and SR, he didn't believe me.

EDIT:
TBS are post-emo.

Senses fail....i dont really know, their EP was almost metalcore.
.
You are right with the TBS one, but Senses Fail, their album is not hardcore. I always would figure them as a emo influenced pop-punk, or hardcore influenced pop-punk. This is where the imaginary genre of POPCORN comes in.

Well, that's a little insane, but it least they know some decent bands, even if they suck at classifying them. I can't stand to listen to rap/hip-hop, and I don't listen to local radio stations, so I have nothing my friends and I have nothing in common as far as music goes.

One time I found a NOFX one on Ebay that had the Trix Rabbit on it and it said "NOFX are for kids!" I wanted to get it so bad, but my parents wouldn't let me.

cobert 07-22-2005 02:22 PM

And to take the thread to another topic, did anyone watch that criss angel show on A&E? If you didnt, imagine either the crow or joe perry from aerosmith doing horrible, horrible magic tricks to people in the street. That show was so corny. Every time they cut to a commercial, the dude whispered really fast "Are you ready?", and there were these retarded segments where he was just floating around in the desert with a big black robe.
