New update on Toolband. Nothing big, just some screenshots of the two DVD menus.
My sister in law said she'd buy those for me for my birthday/christmas (there on the same day). |
Well, just finished reading on another board that:
"the remixes are interesting. the schism one is very cool. digipak packaging". Also found out that the 'Schism' remix is suppose to be about 20mins long while 'Parabola' is about 15mins. And! I also read who the commentary guests are suppose to be. Not sure if everyone on here wants me to just put out the names or you'd rather wait and find out when you get the dvds. |
Hm, as lame as it might sound, I'm considering buying those DVD's for those menus, haha
Same here, or more likely, I suspect that at least one person will buy them for me this christmas. |

I thought I'd bump this, and drop in and say hi.
I've really deserted this site as of lately. I've had a lot of personal issues in my life going on, with everything ranging from love, confusion, divorce, moving, as of last night finally believing in God, and so on. Its been the complete best and worst year of my life. ^Why I told you that? I don't know.... Anyways, its Christmas break! Woohooo!!! Exams=over. I didn't study for any of them, and I think the outcome will be just fine. I haven't been listening to Tool for quite some time, and actually probably wont listen to them til I hear the new album. I've actually started to take a liking in From First to Last, some emo and indie stuff, etc... Oh, and The Fall of Troy is like woooaaahhh. I'm starting to get my band together. Not sure what we'll sound like though. I was thinking metal before, but now, I want a good mix of metal, post hardcore, lots of melody, breakdowns, acoustic interludes, and the such. Who knows where this may be going. |

Ok, well this is what I read:
"'Schism' guest commentary = David Yow" "'Parabola' guest commentary = Jello Biafra" |
Ok, well this is what I read:

Jello as in Green jello (the Band)?
Forgive my ignorance but who is David Yow? |
extremely dissapointed in those guests
|
As am I, I haven't even heard of either of them.
|
Ive heard of Jelly Biafra, but I have no ****in clue who either of them are
|
Possibly the worst guests I could imagine.
EDIT: How can you be a political activist if you're an anarchist? |
Man.. thats weak... :upset:

I was hoping for atleast commentary from Alex Grey or Chet Zar. I can understand the band not doing it, because that would be like Kubrick explaining his movies shot by shot. It's better left open for interpretation. However, I really hope those aren't the real guest commentators on the dvds. That's really lame.

Or David Lynch, for that matter. And I agree. Why should we give a fuck what those two guys have to say? |
I suddenly regret getting a $300 Schecter for Christmas.
I won't be able to get the DVD. :upset: |

Gah, I know! I was also hoping for Alex Grey. I do also hope that those two won't be the real guest commentators. |

I'm going to guess they're not worth my 20 bucks to buy both. :-/
But hey, after Christmas, I'll probably have a bunch of extra cash floating around, so I'm guessing I'll end up buying both DVD's. :p |
Exactly what I'm saying.
I don't want 10 minutes of some punk going "woh man, that's some weird hippy crap right there". Stuff the DVD's, I'm not participating in this stupid money-making scheme.
|
Well listen, tool have to have plum sauce to bathe in (its very expensive) so if we want them to keep making music we'd better buy these dvds. Thats how they keep their youthful good looks. They have a truck with a plum sauce bath that follows them on tour and they all get naked with a bunch of asian guys and pygmies from south america and swim in it. If we want them to tour we have to make sure they can afford the Plum sauce so lets all dig deep and dish out those $16 so that the guys can bathe their talented asses in the sauce of kings. Amen.
Jello Biafra's actually quite a smart guy, even though I'm not quite sure why Tool of all bands have picked him to be a commentator. I'm guessing it's got more to do with similar political beliefs to members of the band than anything else, but he is quite an odd choice. Jesus Lizard were a great band, but that's a very strange pick to me. Considering that they could have got so many people to do the commentaries, the picks are quite disappointing.
I wasn't saying he was stupid, I've seen him on a documentary and he seems like a smart, cool guy. I meant to say, what the hell is this guy gonna have to say? Tool are, within alternative music, the polar opposite to what Jello does (not so much Jesus Lizard I'm assuming). The most interesting thing they'll have to say will probably be something like "oh yeah, I remember this thing creeped the shat out of me when I saw it". |

I'm saving up already. Heaven forbid Danny go more than 12 hours without dipping his 9 foot stature into some o' dat sauce. Pretty soon, he'll run out of Paistes to smash and then he'll go Hulk and start smashing humans. Maynard'll go first, since he's the least manly. "PAISEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSS!!!!" "Whoa, Danny, calm down now. Here, have these Zildjians. They're just as good, maybe better." "NO! DANNY WANT PAISTEEEEEEEEEESSSSS!!!!" *SMASH SMASH!!* |
 This thread has really seemed to keep going uphill, then downhill, then uphill....
|
I expect an uphill mstion once one of us gets the DVD's and a even LARGER uphill swing when the labum comes out. Then, once the album is idssected to bits, I'll be ready for a even larger downhill swing.
|
Yeah, after the new albums out, and all the dissection begins, this thread will most likely die after a few months... since there will be little Tool talk, except when people talk about all the tours.
|

I think i'm going to avoid this thread once the new album is out. Ill wait till the endless interpretations are done. So far I find my own meaning in any Tool song, i do like to know what the majority of the interpretations are, i just dont need tons of ideas into my head. I take what it means to me. |

People still discuss the meanings of songs from as far back as Ænima still, so it's gonna take more than a few months for the discussion of this colossus record to stop. |

Not in this thread buddy. I haven't seen even a Latearlus interpretation in months. |

That's only because it's the same people that come here all the time, and all the regulars have already shared all their theories, et al. |

Exactly. |
heh heh, i bought the lateralus album today just cuz i heard the track about the area 51 guy is creepy.
|
That's an odd choice. Have you listened to it yet?
|

Tool has a pretty close relationship with him, which is why I assume he was chosen. I want to know why the other guy was chosen; I've never even heard of the guy. |

Come to think of it, you're right. I just don't see people in here running out of stuff to talk about. I mean, we have the new album which will be discussed for months on end, then touring, and then talk about another album... yeah. |
That's an odd choice. Have you listened to it yet?
WEll, i remember hearing them a couple years ago thinking that it was fudged up music. but im more open to music these days. |
