Hey, i just really discovered c.o.b, what's their best album and/or songs. I've borrowed 'Are You dead yet?' off my mate.
Hatebreeder & Follow The Reaper are their best albums.

Pick those two up. All of their albums are great though.

Download,

Bed Of Razors (hatebreeder)
Towards Dead End (hatebreeder)
Warheart (hatebreeder)
Bodom After Midnight, Mask Of Sanity, Kissing The Shadows (Follow The Reaper)
Needled 24/7, Bodom Beach Terror, Angels Don't Kill & Sixpounder (Hatecrew Deathroll)
Lake Bodom, The Nail, Red Light In My Eyes 1 & 2 (Something Wild)

I assume like you said, you've heard AYDY.

Download some of those songs and see what you liike. Then pick up the albums etc etc etc.

MRDuCran 04-16-2006 01:17 AM

My favourite solos off Hatebreeder are, Warheart, Children of Bodom or Downfall.

HCDR, probably Bodom Beach Terror, You're Better Off Dead or Hate Crew Deathroll.

The Towards Dead End solo is pretty boring in my opinion, the intro kicks the sh!t out of it.

Favs off Follow the Reaper are Bodom After Midnight, Hate Me and Kissing the Shadows (2nd), and throw in Taste of my Scythe too.

Might as well say AYDY too:
Living Dead Beat
In Your Face
We're Not Gonna Fall.

Yo. Mitch.

You missed the excitment tonight.

A couple idiots from the Pit came over and where spamming.

I reported along with Victor & Jake.

Then the problems thread grew to several pages of spam and the whole pit posse came over into R&M.

lol. Good times.

Maybe that's why I ignored it. :)

Nice nice nice nice.

What was the playing in?

MRDuCran 04-16-2006 01:43 AM

Whaaaat? @ "What was the playing in?"
Whaaaat? @ "What was the playing in?"
I was mildly puzzled. Were you playing that on guitar?

That's what I mean.

MRDuCran 04-16-2006 01:57 AM

Oh, no. It's a midi, from Guitar Pro.

I'm Charming 04-16-2006 02:19 AM
Oh, no. It's a midi, from Guitar Pro.
Ahh. That was my other guess. I'm rather spaced out and idk what.

I decided I'd start learning that "Move" song.

I got until the solo down reasonablly well. I'm gonna watch Passage To The Reaper, and get down the parts I need to etc etc.

MRDuCran 04-16-2006 02:21 AM

Until the solo, that bits frikkin' easy.
Until the solo, that bits frikkin' easy.
Yeah. Taking into account I hadn't played it nor heard it in ages, I was playing it pretty well.

I'll prefect that tomorrow or later.

Then try the solo.

I've been having a little trouble with the Arsis, I brought it up to full speed and it's a bitch. So I'll quit that like ten million other songs, which I've quit.

lol. I'm running out of songs to try.

MRDuCran 04-16-2006 02:47 AM

The solo to demonstration 2 is pretty tricky to nail, you'd probably get stressed out with that too. Bodom aren't really a beginners band for playing/covering whatever. Even their slower songs have faster parts in them, i.e Everytime I Die and Angels Don't Kill.

Maybe you could try Red Light in My Eyes pt.1, sounds pretty easy.

Orrr try playing the Living Dead Beat solo on guitar, 32nd notes at 130bpm (16ths at 260 lol) \m/ Go Janne Warmen!!!

I'm not really a beginner. I'm sorta of stuck in the middle.

If it's at all easy, I'm bored to death. If it's overly difficult, I quit.
lol.

I'm starting to think it's not my guitar playing though. Since my life is falling to pieces in most ways, little by little.
Granted it's hardly anyways in but it's still a point. I have all F's in my classes so far, which isn't the end of the world. Since there's been no tests, midterms, finals etc etc. So it's not like I'm screwed. I have no intent to do well, in subjects I enjoy.
Anyway, enough of my bitching.

MRDuCran 04-16-2006 02:58 AM

I'm kinda stuck in the middle too. I suck at playing modes, 3 notes per string with alternate picking, I can do 4's or 6's but 3's suck.

That 2nd bit sounded a bit drastic, if all goes band, try and join a band, or become a session musician or something, idk.

I mean. I want it to challenge me and hopefully go hand in hand with learning a new technique or something. Be fun to play and interesting.

I had no trouble with Triple Corpse Hammer Blow, but it just bored me to death.
Since the rhythm (most) of the song wasn't interesting. I didn't have ANY problems with that lead riff.

Meh.

MRDuCran 04-16-2006 03:04 AM

Record the lead riff, I'm interested to hear it since you had no trouble, I can hit it at 130bpm but then again I palm mute and have my gain on 4. I could probably do it at 152 if I warmed up.

If you want to learn a new technique and be interesting, just learn Towards Dead End (I can't remember if you know that or not...).

I can't play the sweeps.

I've done the intro. That's it.
I haven't tried any other parts of it.

I've been practicing sweeps and trying to work on that, over the last couple days. It hasn't really gone anywhere though. I have a feeling it's going to take ages on that.

MRDuCran 04-16-2006 03:24 AM

Try this:

E-19p15----------15---
B---------17---17-------
G------------16----------

__u____u_d_d_d___

__4__1_2_1_2_1___

Top is obviously the frets, second line are the pick strokes, u=upstroke, d=down.
Bottom line, fingers.

It's an Emin arpeggio in 2nd inversion.

Accent every 3 notes to a click, therefore playing quaver triplets.
I'd suggest starting around 40-70bpm, concentrate on the flow, or the "sweep" of the right hand otherwise it'll sound choppy and uneven. Don't rush and think you're Jason Becker, make sure every note is sounding out perfectly but do not let the notes ring into each other by holding them down like a chord.

Fret the B, pull off to the G, as you fret the E note, quickly lift up your first finger enough to mute the high E string but not too much since you want to make at little movement as possible. Shift the first finger down to the G string to play the B. Do the same thing where you take your finger of the string (G) as soon as you've played it and throw it up to the high E again whilst you're re-fretting the E on the B string. Gently lift your finger off the B to mute it and repeat.

Hopefully you have no idea how to sweep at all so I didn't just write that out for nothing. :)

Love you Mandy. x

Thanks! I'll have to try this out.
Umm. I understand how to, actually sweeping is a far different story. lol.

I understand the mechanics of it, methods and technique. I just can do it.

(Towards Dead End) I tried holding as if were a cord, but sweeping... with each note ringing. That didn't work well. So I was trying to do it, what I think is the right way. Lift each finger off as I descend. That was very hard and I failed at that. haha.

PS: I watched Rock Discipline and John Petrucci's demo of sweeping.

ACircuitShock 04-16-2006 03:32 AM

^ You know what, I'm gonna go try that. I've been meaning to learn sweeps for a while now, and work on my lead work in general but sweps have always killed me. Thanks for the input!

You ever practice a riff a bunch, and think you have it close to the right speed. Then you listen to the song and realize it's faster than you remember it being?

The same thing happened to me when I tried that intro. It doesn't help that I'm a bassist who tried it on guitar too.

Well, technically being a bassist would give you an advantage over the average Joe :p But I see what you mean.

Your avatar made me laugh.
