Welcome back, you need to post more often ;)
I love Trilogy, and I have been looking for Tarkus. How is it?
i was going to ask a similar question, but i hear it's quite good. that's just what i hear though, i'm still looking for it. speaking of rare cds, i'm right now searching for the traveling wilburys volume 1. for those of you who haven't heard of them, the traveling wilburys were a short lived SUPER super group (i mean the definition of super group, this line up was insane, made CSNY look like, well look like not superstars). The band was composed of get this: George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbinson, and Tom Petty. And the album got great reviews. unfortunately it's out of print. but with that line up it's hard to go wrong. |

I've heard of them before, never knew that was the line up though. Wow. |
yes, i'd like to thank you all for keeping this alive in my absence. I would particularly like to thank the original mx fathers of time. How many of u guys are still here, i've already seen rock not roll and badmoon, but how many more of the originals remain? also thanks for making my thread the largest on the front page of the rock & metal forum. you guys are truly amazing.
Back to music - so i know it's not really classic rock, but what do u guys think of Trans-Siberian Orchestra? I'm going to see them dec 27th at madison square garden and i hear they're spectacular live, so i'm pretty pumped! |
No, I haven't heard anything by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
|
they kind of mesh rock and roll and classical music, but it sounds really awesome. think and edgier heavier electric light orchestra.
|
Well, maybe I'll just look into this.
Tell me more about The Traveling Wilburys, do you have any of their albums? |

BoBo was talking about them in our chat yesterday, but other than that, I've never heard of them. |

Tell me more about The Traveling Wilburys, do you have any of their albums?
they only have two albums, both of which are out of print. meaning i'm searching for them. they disbanded shortly after roy orbinson died. but check out the songs "handle with care," "dirty world," or "end of the line" for a good sampling and trans-siberian orchestra is quite good. i'd recommend checking out "Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24)", their rendition of carol of the bells. really kicks a$$. |
i really like the eagles. great music, and it's nice and relaxing to listen to. a lot of california bands were doing that at the time, fleetwood mac, steve miller possibly, you get the idea. all good bands.
and i realize i call a lot of bands amazing, but the Travelling Wilburies are THE band! simply amazing. the contrast between all of them is great, and their songwriting is the best ever, like just think about who is all in it. i like it best when Roy Orbison sings, man i love his voice. Dylans voice is so comical compared to the other guys. |

"End of the Line" is a really cool song.
|
hey badmoon, just the person i was looking for. i wanna thank u for helping to keep this alive from the very beginning. are any other originals still left? i saw rock not roll earlier...
|
one time i was driving around and a travelling wilburies ALBUM came on (that's right, they played the entire album, it was midnight and they always do that)
great stuff. i gotta go though. |
k bye, and badmoon or rock not roll, tell me what's been going on
|
Me, badmoon and rock and roll are still here. DVG might post once every month or so. The fathers of time really went away and such, just because we didn't really see the point and wanted different user titles.
Anyways, good to have ya back :D There are some new folk who you will notice. Good point on the 3 chord songs by the way ;) |
thank you i love you as always. i'll prob change the title soon, but the icon might stay a while. it's pretty awesome
|
Just for clarification, what might I classify The Band and Neil Young under?
|
To catch up if anyonee says anything bad about Steve Miller I will eat their children.
Trans-Siberian Orchestra is kickass, their version of Carol of Bells was on the radio today, and it was one of the coolest things I've ever heard. ELP is great, especially their version of Peter Gunn. Today I got Blues Traveler-s/t, Four The Band-Rock of Ages Vol.1(vinyl) Hello b0nz0, you probably don't know me because I'm not an original :( |

Neil Young is folk/country rock. |
Ok. I thought it was folk rock, but I heard someone say roots rock and didn't know what that was.
peter gunn is not one of them...
Are you trying to tell me they didn't do a version of Peter Gunn? Because they did  |
no i'm saying i don't have it on my computer and i wish i did
what do you think of this after all this time?
i'm glad to be back, and happy to see that what was once a small thread and an island in a sea of metallica threads has grown into something truly great thanks to you guys. (i'd love to take credit for it but i disappeared for like the last 6 months) But yea when i started this thread i seriously didn't think it would make it 3 days before being bumped. you people restored my faith in music, and thank u for making it the largest front page thread on rock and metal. keep up the good work. |
I have it, but it's at my dad's...sorry :(
|
Oh, I misread it.
