I love my new bass.

*Licks it.*

Rollo47 10-29-2004 05:15 AM

G'day All.

Well, things (bass wise) are looking good for me. By the end of next year, I should have another two basses, a real nice electric four string, and an accoustic four string. Also a cheap-ish multi fx pedal, too, which is cool.

FUNKNBASS 10-29-2004 05:34 AM

Hey everyone.

gaslight 10-29-2004 05:49 AM

Hey guys, anyone know where I can get a video of someone doing a backflip while playing a bass?

FUNKNBASS 10-29-2004 05:51 AM

No sorry. Getting any ideas Gas. I know of a Vid of Jaco doing this awsome twirling thing with his bass, just look for the video of him at Montruex in 84.

ITs well worth it, its an awsome vid.

popinfresh 10-29-2004 06:38 AM

How does a goliath and 4x12 sound? Or would a 6x8 be better choice than a 4x12 for punch?

FUNKNBASS 10-29-2004 06:39 AM
...Holy crap. When is FUNKNBASS not on!?
I have nothing to do, I did my all my work on wednesday so I could relax yesterday and today, Im just at the site playing games on my laptop.

FUNKNBASS 10-29-2004 06:39 AM
How does a goliath and 4x12 sound? Or would a 6x8 be better choice than a 4x12 for punch?
I'd go for the 412 but you should try them out if you can. I like 412 alot.

popinfresh 10-29-2004 06:45 AM
I'd go for the 412 but you should try them out if you can. I like 412 alot.
This is for woodwork next year.. Building it myself.. I doubt anyone would order in my a henry 8x8 or jnr. I can try a SVT 4x12HE..

FUNKNBASS 10-29-2004 06:47 AM

Cool, what are you building it out of, I suggest Birch ply if possible. What speakers you plan on using?

popinfresh 10-29-2004 06:47 AM

Oh and by the way.. I like slapping alot.. Plus I play in a heavy/hard rock band, so i'd like to cut through.

FUNKNBASS 10-29-2004 06:49 AM

Then definetly go 4x12 opossed to 8x8. The 412 will give you far better response across the spectrum. The 8x8 might be a little too punchy, the 4x12 will be much better for rock and good for slap.

popinfresh 10-29-2004 06:49 AM
Cool, what are you building it out of, I suggest Birch ply if possible. What speakers you plan on using?
Yup, birch ply. And i think it was eminence? that people said were good. I want something really punchy, i'l have a goliath for good hi-fi top end, I want something with big, shaking lows, and really knock-down punch/low mids i spose.

gaslight 10-29-2004 06:51 AM

The PA system I play through in one of my bands uses Eminence speakers.

Very nice sound and tone, and I cut through just fine.

FUNKNBASS 10-29-2004 06:52 AM

Then get some Eminence Delta LFs, great lows, I have them in my 412s.

popinfresh 10-29-2004 06:55 AM
Then get some Eminence Delta LFs, great lows, I have them in my 412s.
How much am i looking at $$ wise? Good for slap? and cut through?

Gaslight: ahh, cool.

FUNKNBASS 10-29-2004 06:57 AM

Cuts through like a hot knife through butter, and I can slap like theres no tomorrow. Price Im not really sure but my dad said it wasnt too bad.

EDIT: There about $100 a piece which isnt too bad for speakers and is well worth it.

Thats the music123 price, check out avatar as well, I know they sell individual speakers.

popinfresh 10-29-2004 07:00 AM

Holly sh!t.. 300 watt each. 8ohms though.. that would make a 412 cab 2ohms no? I need it to be 8ohms.. or 4 ohms at least.

popinfresh 10-29-2004 07:02 AM

Hmm, 100 each.. what about a 2x12.. Or should I really try get a 412?

FUNKNBASS 10-29-2004 07:03 AM

There are other speakers to check out, those are just the ones I really like and in my opinion are the best.

FUNKNBASS 10-29-2004 07:03 AM

Later MX.

PaulSimonon 10-29-2004 08:00 AM

Hey All.

popinfresh 10-29-2004 08:01 AM

recomend me speakers with great low end, and great punch for slap. Something that can cut through in a heavy band.

PaulSimonon 10-29-2004 08:09 AM

Celestion or Eminence...

PaulSimonon 10-29-2004 08:53 AM

Hmmm.... I'm thinking about buying a pedal today, maybe a wah, Big Muff, EQ, or BassBalls. Any suggestions, testimonies, or horror stories?

gaslight 10-29-2004 09:02 AM

I love my Dunlop Crybaby Bass Wah. That's the only one I have experience with.

PaulSimonon 10-29-2004 09:03 AM

Well, I only plan to buy 70USD, so that's a little much, but it will influence what I will leave for future buying...

moxshyfter 10-29-2004 09:10 AM

Hola amigo, long time no see!! (así se dice?)

Paul: I'd buy a bass exciter, I tried one the other day and I like it a lot, it allows you to control your tone brightness way beyond what your tone knobs can, and you can dial in some cool sounds with it.

Although having some bass balls wouldn't be bad at all... :amaze:
