there was a thread about it in the pit in R & M last night. Don't remember the song, but it was by Lamb Of God

Adam Jones is GOD 04-07-2005 11:14 AM

Lamb Of God are my favourite 'sit back and get angry to' band. They should be deadly at download.

It's a pisstake metal song my band did ages ago, we just threw a mic down at practice, we played it on monday to a bunch of metal fans and it didn't go down well.

Your soundcard question in JS? Which is that?

I've been recomended them by a expert for game/music playing sound quality. But they know crap all about the line in ability, etc.

And the quality of those vocals, urgh. Tight drumming though (/suck up)

The lyrics I could make out were funny.

I had to double up for the bassists vocals when his ***** emo voice died.

When moaner comes online I'll give him the link cause he deals with soundcards more than me.

AJID:

Obviously, don't kid yourself. That Soundcard was not designed for recording, and therefore will lack handy features like XLr inputs and the like thaat make life a lot easier.

However, a good soundcard isa good soundard, and that one will be able to make good quality recordings. It'd be handy if you could leave the mixer pluggedin, cause you're gonna need a few afapters to hook it up to a modeller/mixer.

I have some gold 1/4"jack to phono adapters i picked up off ebay. they're probably what you're after.

Adam Jones is GOD 04-07-2005 02:05 PM

Can you make any suggestions as to an alternative? I was primarily looking at the ones on overclockers as its going to be cheapest for me (a friend is doing a bulkl buy from there, and it'll reduce the cost greatly)

I was going to go for just another soundcard, but since the last time I tried mic recording, I swear the distortion and volume levels were part of the cause of that card's demise. So something that can handle it (i.e, designed for it) would be better.

wetdog 04-07-2005 03:47 PM

yo mob havent been here in ages and ages

wetdog 04-07-2005 03:51 PM

I could have added E.Q. and cleaned it up, but I decided that E.Q. was time consuming and I'd rather eat a cheesestring. The real appealable cheese eh?

dedcated ones start at about £100.

Too much dist can't knacker a soundard, but you setting your output levels of your source can.

1. put some real cheddar on a plate in the microwave for 1 minute. enjoy the chessey smells, letit cool, and eat it. yum.

2. Put a chessestring in the microwave for 1 minute. I won't spoil the ending, but leave some windows open.

Im really going to have to understand a thing or two about the mechanics behind cpu soundcards and recording one day. Still kicking myself i never took the chance to at 6th form.

Hopefully I'll be at Download on Saturday and Sunday, all weekend of Reading or just the Sunday, Thirteenth Day festival and if I can afford it Bloodstock Open Air.

GurS 04-08-2005 08:09 AM

/bought ticket to Reading sunday

Brew 04-08-2005 10:27 AM

If I can get one of these newer fandangled weekend tickets then woo

If not then its a Sunday day ticket for me

Adam Jones is GOD 04-08-2005 11:09 AM

Im currently negotiating (with close minded music loving friends) for a sunday ticket.

Inother news, i have another interview this week. It starts with a 1 hour test, then onto the interview stage. And I was short listed for this one :D

(btw, its for an accountancy job at the local council. Big money + promotions if I get it)

Spectrum 04-08-2005 11:02 PM

Good luck with the interview, Ben. I really hope you land that job.

I have bought today Radiohead - Hail to the Thief. I am listening to it for the first time, and am on track four ("Backdrafts"). Give it some time, and it will grow on me. Same thing happened with every single 'head album I purchase.

However, at the current time, "2+2=5" and "Sail to the Moon" = great

King_Karl 04-09-2005 04:00 AM

Hey guys. I finished TimeSplitters :thumb: Awesome game. Good look with the job man. I bought 'Songs For The Deaf' again yesterday because my old copy died somehow. What an album
