No, he has some absolutely incredible stuff, but in person he's a rather boring guy...watching them live, they were top notch, but didn't do anything to draw the crowd in. He didn't really show any emotion...hell, he didn't MOVE much.

If he showed an interest in what he was doing, then I personally think people wouldn't pick on him as much. As it stands though, he's a brilliant guitarist with a nonexistant presence.

Becker doesn't count though. We all know he's a robot.
At least Becker had fun on stage. :p

Has anyone seen him play Paganinis fifth, fucking inhuman.
Petrucci moved a good deal during their April First show. Hell, even Myung moved during the show.
They pulled an April fool's on you guys. :p

Shattered_Future 04-15-2006 06:34 PM

Yea, but they were recording a DVD then...

How was that show, by the way? Don't think I ever heard about it.

Oh man, if Myung moved, we all know the world is coming to an end. :amaze:

I agree with the points stated here - you want to have FUN at shows. When the players do their jobs like statues, it doesn't really matter how technically amazing they are. That's why I loved Dark Tranquillity live. Michael Nicklasson and Mikael Stanne both worked the crowd, and really put their hearts into what they were doing. THAT'S what makes a show.

Shattered_Future 04-15-2006 06:38 PM

DT live is amazing...

Blimey, they played all of 6DOIT? That must have been amazing to see...

With and Orchestra to. It was really amazing. LaBrie did a pretty good job getting the crowd into it as well.
Yeah, he's such an inspiration it's not even funny. People need to realize that the "speed" (he doesn't even "shred" all that much) is only 10% of why he's a good player.
Thank you sir!

His technique is flawless and he's quite versital.

I watched Rock Discipline last night.

1 Hour, 57 Minutes of making me feel bad.

Though I came away with nothing but pure respect for Petrucci.

He's about as nice & down to earth as can be. Plus he's a master of the guitar.

I wasn't even aware of that. In fact.

I was just thinking about the messed up stories/threads/spam/spam threads etc etc he's made. Times he's been banned over in the pit.

Drug stories and bitching about life/parents.

It's just not something R&M needs, in any thread.

Yay, Lets just wait til Riva nails him.

Mr. Pennywhistle 04-16-2006 12:06 AM

People can be so unkind :(

And people can be so hypocritical. You really think it's kind to run around mocking the guy's name? Grow up, please, and stop acting like your name is any better.

Mr Pennywistle isn't one of say "unkind".

Someone who's threatened to "find & rape" another MXer in a post. He said he was having drug flash backs, but whatever.
IN THE PAST, had hi jacked accounts. Endless spam threads in the pit.

He's not one to talk.

Thanks. I've reported him, three posts. So just ignore him.

Let Riva & Jom have stomping time.

He did the same thing in the Nevermore thread.

Agreed, lets let Jom or Riva take care of his ass.

On with the CoB talk.

What's everyones favorite solo on HCDR?

I have to go with the Key/Guitar battle in Chokehold.

Mr. Pennywhistle 04-16-2006 12:24 AM

TRUE METAL!!! hurrrrrrrr

Sleepy 04-16-2006 12:27 AM

All I ever really listen to by CoB anymore is Hatebreeder and Something Wild. I really don't know what's killed all the fun in listening to their more recent albums, but they just don't seem up to par.

The guitar and key battle in Chokehold was a pretty sweet exchange, though. :)

Lets talk Hatebreeder solos then.

I always find the Towards Dead End solo, a letdown. Consider the wonderful sweeps.

The only thing about that solo that I find a letdown is that it ends. That's one of Alexi's best, IMO.

thelittledrummerboy 04-16-2006 12:41 AM

Hey, i just really discovered c.o.b, what's their best album and/or songs. I've borrowed 'Are You dead yet?' off my mate.

GenuineImitation 04-16-2006 12:45 AM

My favorite album is Follow the Reaper. It is much better than Ar You Dead Yet?
