Why Luc214 deserves a large avatar.
by Luc214 In the merrie olde year of 2006 Luc214 joined sputnik (formerly known as musicianforums). Follow him on his journey of not even 2 years as we chronicle his beginnings, MIA period, and where he is now. Luc214 began his legacy on MX with a surprising lack of immaturity, besides a slight tendency to double post which garnered him much hate from interesting users such as I'm Charming. Sadly, his musical taste read something like this: Cannibal Corpse Lamb Of God Mudvayne Seether Godsmack And other such deplorable artists (keep in mind this was ALL he listened to.) One day, to his boyish delight, he discovered the Daily Upload. Instantly, all his fantasies came true as he wallowed in an eargasmic world of new and exciting sonic pleasures. Through that famed Upload, he discovered awesome bands such as Ram-Zet and Ulver. At first, all he could do was post in the thread because he had slow internet, but then he began to upload albums overnight and contribute to the Upload. His last contribution to the Upload before the terrible shut down was his much acclaimed full "Femme Fatale" issue, in which he exposed users to a different side of female vocalists in music. As he grew in status as a Daily Upload contributor, he entered under the mentorship of legendary users such as Txus and more recently Cocaine. These two behemoths broadened the scope of his limited musical mind and introduced him to sounds he never dreamed were possible in music. He has also receieved some musical boosts from Kage, but there is a strange love/hate relationship going on with them so it's probably not best to mention him at all. Turning away from the sonic realm for a moment, we will examine Luc214's love for film as well as music. He is a fairly active contributor in the Video Games/Movies section of MX, and has made a successful thread about David Cronenberg. Some of his favorite films include: Dark City Clerks A Clockwork Orange 21 Grams In the summmer of 07, Luc214 encountered a rough spot. He stopped listening to music almost completely, stopped posting on MX, and entered a bit of a depressive state. All his free time was taken up with Guild Wars and preparing to move from Arizona after his mother's recent divorce. Luckily, he has swung back and is now a respected (or so he thinks) member of the R&M forum. Only yesterday he was gleefully deleting Napster in the light of a luxurious pirating circle, today he is a proud listener of a variety of artists with a fairly eclectic taste, and a movie nut as well. Luc214 resides in the very green state of Pennsylvania in the USA, accredited home of the infamous spammer i am the robots and hopes to meet him soon. What does the future hold for Luc214 on MX? He is in college, has just recently formed a band, is building a powerful PC in a few weeks, and is considering writing music reviews for this site. Only time will tell what will become of him. Sorry for the formatting errors, I should have typed it in here. And: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y66/pcgamer214/dex.jpg?t=1202101129 Please and thank you! |
So if I want to change avatars do I have to do another essay?
If not, can I please have this one? http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/102/quinne4fw9.jpg |
Why Big80smullet Deserves a Large Avatar.
By Big80sMullet BIg80smullet, sometimes known simply as Evan, has been a member of the Soutnikmusic Community since August 2003. He is poster with a very distinctive sense of humor and a very easy going demeanor. Upon joining the community in 2004 big80smullet was exposed to many new bands and although very reluctant to move away from his staple diet of metallica, Slayer and Rage Against The Machine, his eyes were opened to whole new genres of music that he had never dreamed he would enjoy. At the insistance of svereal members whos names have been lost in the fog of time, he became a big fan of post rock and metal genres, and still retains that enjoyment to this day. Big80smullet is a prominent member of the Australian commumity on Sputnikmusic and was a major contributor to the Classifieds section, particularly the gig guides previous to their removal. He continues to be active in the small yet close knit australian community thread with over a thousand post. Although a self confessed pit rat big80smullet always visits other forums and is attempting to limit his time in the pit, due to the detrimental effect on his mental health, and is spending more time in R+M, guitar and Video Games/Movies forums. His hobbies outside MX include reverse grafitti, ninjitsu, writing haikus, kite surfing, rally driving, War photography, Youth work and counselling of underpriviledged aboriginal children in remote outback communities, creating GIFs of facist dictators, and converting protein into muscle mass. Big80smullet has also been playing guitar for 5 years and can do a mean acoustic cover of hit me baby one more time. BIg80smullet has never been banned or cautioned for he is a very concientious poster, however he did go on a self imposed two year exile between june 2005 and july 2007 in which time he travelled the world seeing amazing sights and opening his mind to new experiences and cultures. This give him great tolerance in dealing with people from other cultures and he is especially sensitive to american culture, having spent 3 summers studying their ways. Big80smullet returned to Sputnikmusic in july 2007 a wiser and more well rounded poster with a renewed vitality for forum life. In conclusion, big80smullet deserves a large avatar because he is a poster of high quality. he is a multi talented, multi cultural and multi dimensional being. He is a high profile member of the australian community and well respected and liked (he hopes). k so if that is adequate i would like this plz http://www.sitcom.co.uk/peep_show/graphics/char_superhans.jpg thank you for taking the time to read my essay. :D |
Done, and rep for having a Peep Show avatar.

The Man, The Myth, and His Quest To Recieve A Large Avatar
by MBS Abstract: The user MBS has earned the privilege of a large avatar on the forum because of his long history with the forums, his outstanding forum citizenship, and because he is a generally awesome person. MBS first registered on the forums under the moniker MalcolmYoungRock, (which wasn't one of the best moves of his forum career) in the month of May in the year 2004. Since then, he has had a name change, an account merge, and a name change on his new account. His current and final name is MBS. MBS has always been a lover of classic rock. His first true thread that he continually posted in has been the Classic Rock thread. He learned many things from discussions there, which featured many questions such as "Which Neil Young album is the best?" and "Where is Neil Young touring?" and "Isn't Neil Young just REALLY fuckin awesome?" MBS has also contributed to the Last.fm thread mutiple times, and pops in from the R&M community thread from time to time. In the summer of 2005, MBS tried his hand at writing series threads, and thus, the Essential Albums series was born. This short lived series featured write ups on albums that MBS thought were important, then were voted on by members of the forum. Sadly, school soon approached and MBS reluctantly stopped writing the threads. MBS has always been there for the Rock and Metal forum, making brief contributions when he can. In July of 2006, MBS ran the R&Mer of the Month competition (see source thread 1). He has always been there to support and help the forum in crisis times. At a time when spam links were a concern with the forum, MBS was quick on the draw to report these posts to the attention of the moderators to be quickly deleted. MBS has posted in the Report Problems thread very frequently, to keep the forums safe from spam and problem posts. MBS has always pushed the limits when making thread. A good example of this is making the first ever "versus" thread with controlled debate. Generally, versus threads are shunned because they brought ignorant posts and generally bad posting to the forums. However, MBS came up with an idea to control these threads so maybe they can produce decent conversation. The plan was initiated, and while it wasn't a raging success (there were still some bad seeds here and there), Jason deemed that the thread was not "as bad as [he] thought it would be." MBS has many other hobbies aside from the forums. He is a professed movie and comedy buff, and enjoys reading novels. His current favorite novel is the Vonnegut classic "Cat's Cradle". He enjoys taking care of his chocolate lab puppy, Lucy. (Pic: http://i28.tinypic.com/2e1dvg4.jpg) Although she tests his patience sometimes, he feels that taking care of her has taught him tremendous amounts of responsibility and is very grateful for the experience, and that little bundle of fur. :') MBS kindly requests that his avatar be changed to this image of the actress Zooey Deschanel. She is quite beautiful and he would be honored to have her picture next to his posts. :) http://i32.tinypic.com/315enmb.jpg In conclusion, MBS would be tickled pink if the high and mighty moderators would grant him this simple request. He feels that he has earned it, and would be very grateful for this opportunity. Thank you. Why Dimmu Burger should get a large avatar
By: Dimmu Burger One warm day in the spring of '07 a young correctional officer with some time to kill at his new job felt that he should find a place to talk about his one true passion: music. After registering on a few forums, one stuck out due to the fast replies and variety of discussion: Sputnik Music. Thanks to this discovery Dimmu Burger has slowly but surely learned about the worlds of music that are despised by most of the world. He learned of Doom Metal, real Black Metal, Viking Metal and more. His eyes became opened. Once a man named after a Dimmu Borgir reference in a cartoon, he was now on his way to becoming an underground metal aficionado. Now, when one of his friends wants to know what band this guy was in or what band that guy was in, they ask Dimmu Burger. Now, Dimmu Burger's wife says his obsession with music is kinda creepy. Now, Dimmu Burger needs a 160 gig iPod to keep all of the stuff he got from the DU. This man has come a long way, making positive discussion, contributing to the DU, never getting banned, and playing a large part in the new DU alternative. This is a man who is part of a community. This is a man who needs bigger and better things. This is a man who needs a bigger avatar, and maybe a name change. :thumb: If this is acceptable please give me this Starbuck from Battlestar Galactica avatar: http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh300/CannibalFoodFight/katee_sackhoff_02.jpg Thank you for your time. |

JumpTheF**kUp? More like SitTheF**kDown because you're about to be knocked on your arse.
by JumpTheF**kUp When JumpTheF**kUp (who from this point onwards will be referred to only as Jump) decided to join sputnikmusic he was a boy of only 15. Having always had a passion for music, yet no skill at musical instruments, he decided to immerse himself in listening to it. By joining sputnikmusic he was hoping to expand on his taste in music, which sadly revolved around nu-metal at the time, and this liking for nu-metal is what resulted in his rather unfortunate username, having been a big fan of Corey Taylor at the time. Whilst he was young and somewhat immature, Jump always believed in good grammar and spelling, deciding to elevate himself above the plethora of retarded metalheads who plagued SM at the time. However, school inteferred with the amount of time he could spend on the internettingz and so, Jump was forced to spend as little as half an hour a day on sputnikmusic. Whilst Jump joined SM in late '05, he never ventured onto the forums 'til late '06, when school holidays afforded him a lot more time to sit around on his arse doing not much. His first foray into forum life involved predominantly the Review Site's subforum, engaing in community discussion about topics long forgotten. Not knowing how forums worked, Jump posted with too serious an attitude and was largely disliked by many people. His next attempt at joining in forum life involved the General Discussion forum (formerly 'The Pit') and it was a rather strange time for him as he was moulded into a posting machine. After realising (several months later) that R and M wasn't as retarded as GD, Jump took up posting there, and although there were some huge misconceptions about his taste (due, again, to his unfortunate username) Jump managaed to get along with most of the members. By this point however, Jump's taste had expanded to include many different genres of music and he wasn't really fit for posting in the metal forums as he was unfortunately not very knowledgable on grim kvlt metal like many of the other members. However, Jump learned quickly and made several attempts to listen to 'elite' music, resulting in his having a much better taste in metal than when he posted, and this allowed him to post more freely in RnM albeit less frequently than most of the regulars. Jump spends most of his time posting in the General subforums, spending a lot of his time in GD, Sports and Video Games/Music, but always takes the time to read the latest developments in R and M. He also spends a lot of his time in the Australian Community Thread talking about sheilas and meat pies. Jump still remains true to his past though and always checks in on the review forums before heading to the forums, where he is now a 'full time' poster. Recently, in an effort to not become a vapid, mindless moron, Jump posted in PNWI but now lurks after realising he doesn't really have strong views on anything, ever. Jump always attempts to only post comments of a high caliber, and whilst this is not always possible in the pit, I'm sure if you went into the pit for any time longer than 13 seconds you would realise just how low the quality of posting is in there. All this time on the internetz can surely not be a good thing, I hear you say! But fear not, for Jump has many a friend in real life, and spends a lot of his time talking **** with friends and generally just ****ing around. Jump also showed a commitment to his real life by requesting a ban for the length of 4 months to focus on his studies, due to his desire to not become a full time truck driver. These months of sacrifice payed off however, as he is now heading off to University to study medicine (where he will no doubt participate in many a shenanigan) and follow in the footsteps of his idol, Chris Turk. >.> In summary, JumpTheF**kUp, whilst not being the smartest or most eloquent poster, always makes an effort to contribute to the site and is (in his mind anyway) a likeable enough person with a decent taste in music. If this essay is good enough, then I'd like to have this avatar pls: http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/6158/zooeynb5.jpg Because it always made me happier seeing Zooey everytime I posted, and, according to some other users, it was nice seeing her face everyday as well. :) |
