Well, he likes that but not growling vocals such as death metal.
Force feed it to him, it's the only way. :p Play him some Lord Worm era Cryptopsy, and anyting else with really brutal vocals. If that doesn't work, you could always try Death, and Morbid Angel for starters. |
I would definately not recommend Cryptopsy and Lord Worm to a DM newbie. Try Quo Vadis - Legions of the Betrayed.
|
TSASI, i really do think if you want to get him into growling, start with softer opeth, work in some heavier opeth, move onto bloodbath, then continue until you reach lord worm era cryptopsy
|
actually, even if you're not a DM you might find it hard to get used to Lord Worm
Can anyone recommend me some King Crimmson and Dragonforce. Thank you
For Dragonforce I would definately go with Sonic Firestorm and for King Crimson I only have Discipline but that is a great album. I hope this is some help to you :) |

For Dragonforce downloads you can check the Power Metal FG (sticky) and in particular these posts: http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8845398&postcount=27 http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8855740&postcount=56 |

I can pretty much sum it up by saying that Ritual De Lo Habitual is all that you need to get in my opinion, even though some of the songs are a bit too long. I haven't really heard any of their other stuff that's grabbed me to be honest.
123, Ritual De Habitual is an excellent album, but don't get me wrong, it has it's faults... |
Unusual request time.
Give me any good, must have albums by any R&M band that begins with the letter 'E' I've noticed a noticeable gap of any bands with such a letter in my collection, and im sad enough to want to fill this gap. |
I only have Eminem in my collection, though there is some bands i have heard of...
Everclear - pop/punk i think so not really RnM Evergrey - some kind of prog metal/rock i think... Extol - Nu Metallish? Moses is a fan of these...have words with him. |

Cheers for recommending an album med too. I can steal enough Eagles from my parents without having to buy my own. :) |
I just bought Follow The Reaper, and I love it. I have only verry recently been getting into metal, straying from my prog and classic rock roots. I also love the Jester Race by In Flames.
Can anyone reccomend some more bands/albums similar to these? |
Well you mighht like some other albums by CoB, like Something Wild, Hatebreeder, or Hate Crew Deathroll. But I think that Follow The Reaper is CoB's best work.

Someone recommend me Skid Row, Kiss, and Allan Holdsworth.
|
For Skid Row:
Check out their Self-Titled album, the Song Youth Gone Wild is one of my all time favorites. |

For really unique covers try anything from French Can Can by Carnival in coal. They're labelled as sort of avante garde metal, and do really interesting covers. |
Just so happened to off listened to these a minute ago.
Stone - Friends (Led Zep cover) Coroner - Shes so heavy (Beatles) |
For any drummer who wants some fast double kick songs and other insane drumming check out trivium if you already havent. Travis has an insane double kick. Makes me want to cry.
|
Abba's "Gimme gimme gimme" by Malmsteen :D

Not metal, but can I recommend you check out Smells Like Teen Spirit by Tori Amos? It's an acoustic version of the song, sung by a woman, and it's absolutely beautiful.
I'm going to expand on this and recommend the entire album that song is off of, Strange Little Girls. Tori does exceptional interpretations of very good songs by an extremely wide range of artists. |

Nightwish has some interesting covers... They did: Over The Hills And Far Away (Gary Moore cover) Walking In The Air (theme from The Snowman) Phantom Of The Opera (self-explanatory) |
Can anyone recommend any Living Colour songs. All I have heard was Cult of Personality.
|

Tori Amos has done Raining Blood but that's the other way round really. HIM did Larger Than Life which I like. |

Smells Like Teen Spirit isn't on Strange Little Girls. It's on Crucify and Winter (both EPs). In any casem the covers she did early in her career on EPs are far better than the majority of Strange Little Girls. |
I've Listened To bark at the moon And its **** wicked
Yeah that's a good one. You should also try their versions of Pantera's Fucking Hostile and Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street.

Can someone recommend me some Industrial music similar to Nine Inch Nails, and also something similar to Alkaline Trio. I'm not big on Pop-punk but they are one of the few pop-punk bands I like.

Industrial Metal: Ministry, KMFDM, Fear Factory to a certain extent, Skinny Puppy occasionally, Lard |
Yes.
Skinny Puppy, Ministry, KMFDM, Front Line Assembly, Fischerspooner, Absurd Minds, Project Pitchfork. Keep in mind, those are some heaver Industrial bands.. NIN is a little lighter compared to those bands. I have some albums by all of those artists if you're interested.
Yeah, i'm interested in hearing more from the Industrial genre. Thanks for the recommendations guys. |

Uh, pop-punk...Anti-Flag, perhaps? Industrial - Rammstein. German singing though... |
so, the New Order is a good starting point for testament?
|
I'm not big on Pop-punk but they are one of the few pop-punk bands I like.
NOFX, Rancid, and The Transplants are pretty good pop-punk if you haven't checked them out yet.
so, the New Order is a good starting point for testament?
I'd go with The Legacy if you like thrash more... and if you don't, I prefer Practice What You Preach for thrash-y heavy metal over The New Order. IMO TNO really only has 2 or 3 good songs on it. |
^^^ yeah i like The Legacy the best to, its a great CD :thumb:
|
Someone recommend me some good Racer X songs besides Scarified and Technical Difficulties.
|
so, the New Order is a good starting point for testament?
