hey, im sure this has been asked before, but im not about to search through 100+ odd pages of writing, so if anyone has some rare Against Me! songs, mainly the Cavalier Eternal EP, the Sink, Florida, Sink EP, the first Against Me! EP, or the song Bastards of Young (Replacements cover), i'd appreciate it.
soulseek = guitarded_babaca e-mail = Shadow_in_the_Dark_@hotmail.com thanks
I have those EP's on vinyl. But not on my computer. |
Bastards of the Young isn't out yet, I've got Cavalier Eternal and the first Against Me! EP on Soulseek.

I guarantee you'll find whatever AM! stuff you want there. Our show went ok. We did the best we could, given the conditions of the venue (a huge gymnasium). Impact went good, and I ended up screaming at least half of the "IMPACT!!!!"s.
Playing in a gym sucks, but it's good that it went well for you. |
Playing in a gym sucks, but it's good that it went well for you.
agreed. on my last bands last show, we played a school gym and the echoing from the bare walls made my voice sound horrible. right now i am trying to start a new band and need a drummer. that is it. |
I'm gonna start a band and it's going to be better than Against Me!
|
everyone has goals. but it sux because my friend who was our last drummer is a p'ussywhiped moron.damn i am stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Yeah, my band played in a battle of the bands at my school in a gym. It was terrible. My amp was really low. Our drummer was really intoxicated. Everything was echoing. I really miss my band, though. It had nothing to do with punk, but I loved what we did. Now I'll have to go find a new group of people, which seems to be very difficult. |

I dunno, being a drummer and trying to make a band is hard. Partly because it seems like anyone in my town that likes Punk or something has to be a bad musician. |
no he only did it as a hobby but the thing is until he started going out with this psychotic b'itch he was excellent. if he kept going he could have been professional studio musician. and besides everyone around here is into metal old and new or you get the hip hop people. i here from my sister everyday taht "punk sux" but then i go tell her to go fornicate hersef with a lamp post.

Right click on the room list then click "Create Room" and type in allthehubub (case sensitive).
|
Got back from the Leeds Festival yesterday, Against Me! were pretty damn good. The set list was OK, but nothing special, they did about 2 or 3 new songs which sounded pretty decent, but it's not what you should do at a festival, the crowd are there to hear the classics. The crowd was hot for them, and they looked like they were really having fun onstage, i think it was because they were back in a smaller venue.
Setlist (form what i remember, in no order) Cliche Guevara TSR Sink Florida Sink Unprotected Sex From Her Lips to God's Ears Pints Of Guiness Reinventing Axl Rose Rice and Bread New Song New Song One of the songs was probably Americans Abroad, i'd definately go and see them again though. |

You know, everytime I do that, it says I'm the only one in the room. |
Make sure you don't make it allthehubbub. It has to be exactly "allthehubub."
|
Me and the guitar player from my band were playing Against Me! songs outside Wal-mart yesterday underneath a "no loitering" sign. We were playing "Baby, I'm an Anarchist", and when we sang "I was burning that f'ucker and raising my black flag high" this woman got mad and we had the manager called on us. We told him we were taking down the establishment.
|
That's cute. Me and my friend just learned Pints of Guinness last night on our acoustics.
|
Stringing* my black flag high. You really stuck it to the man, man.
|

i do that, but it still says im the only one in that room. i mean, maybe its because i go on soulseek really late at night or early in the morning, but there is never anyone there. anyways, does anyone know if Against Me! has ever played the song "Violence" live? |
They played Violence when I saw them in San Diego with Alkaline Trio. It was a really great performance.

I almost shot myself when I couldn't go see them with Alk3. That would have been an amazing show. God. :upset: |
It reallly was an amazing show, probably one of the top 3 shows I've seen. Against Me! played all the favorites and then Alk3 came on and played for 1.5-2 hours. It was nuts.

...
once again, i dont know if this has been asked, because im not about to go through 112 pages of crap, but does anybody know who Evelyn is/was? I mean, in the RAR cd it has pictures of her and Jason, and she's obviously in the song "Pints of Guiness Make You Strong". and you can assume she's dead. but was she just a friend of Tom's? family? lover?

i was wondering the exact same thing last night. |
I'm fairly sure she's his grandmother.
|
Yeah, I think so too.
|
Anyone else think ...Clarity isn't as bad as everyone thinks, OK, it's not RAR, but's just about on a par with ATEC. It's really grown on me as of late.
|
nah because ATEC is their best album. searching for a former clarity isnt a bad album, ive always liked it.
|
Joy is probably the only song on SFAFC that would fit on their other albums.
|
I thought that SFAFC was good, just not good enough to be ATEC or RAR.
|
Joy is probably the only song on SFAFC that would fit on their other albums.
I was thinking that the other day too. It really fits in better than most songs on that album. Which I continue to find nothing special. Definetly not on par with ATEC or RAR. Especially not RAR, but not ATEC either. |

I've always been in the minority of those who like SFAFC as much as any of their other stuff. Holy **** is my favorite AM! song. |
Holy **** blows.
|
Tensions are running high aboard the S.S. MX.
I'm going to have to listen to SFAFC again very soon. The only songs on it I'm real familiar with are the ones they always play at shows/on tv. |
I've always been in the minority of those who like SFAFC as much as any of their other stuff. It has nowhere near the intensity of emotion, the lyrical poignancy and catchiness of anything on Crime, Acoustic, ATEC or RAR. If that is your favourite AM! song, you have no soul. You like content, not music.

That's a nice opinion. The lyrics aren't mind-blowingly amazing, sure, whatever. But I like them. They are catchy to me. I find myself singing them all the time. I like playing it on guitar, I like listening to it, and that's all that really matters. And if you can only appreciate a song for it's "intensitiy in emotion" or "poignancy", the maybe you are the one who doesn't like music. |
Holy **** is like a country song and Nick likes those dudes with the acoustics.
|
it is not as great as the other songs on SFAFC. the title song is pretty good and somethin you can just sit and play on your acoustic.
|

A song is okay if it's catchy. For a song to be special it has to have something more than that. Holy Shit doesn't, to me at least, maybe it speaks to you, but you've just admitted you don't think the lyrics are that great. I listen to plenty of music for the rhythm or the hooks, but they're not as good as the music I listen to because it has a passion that I can identify with.
Holy **** is like a country song and Nick likes those dudes with the acoustics.
And I don't like country at all. |
Opinions are a-holes. Holy **** rules, as does the entire Clarity album.
|
Opinions are a-holes. Holy **** rules, as does the entire Clarity album.
Nick's get reamed?
Cheap shot but I couldn't resist. Music means more to me than just something I like to play along to on my bass, or to just nod my head to. I'm sorry, but that's the way I am. I just don't see how anyone could compare SFAFC to what came before it, unless you can relate to songs about being part of a scene or something where people are having fun and then becoming more and more aloof until the people who helped get you where you are don't like you anymore. Oh, right. I just got it. |
