glad you're enjoying it
Cathedral is kind of "fun"
I find them pretty hilarious.

Patrick O))) 12-14-2006 12:14 PM

Neither stoner nor doom, but I'd recommend to any of you guys Octaves Of The Holy Innocents by Buckethead, Helborg and Shrieve

It's an acoustic jazz cd. Just got it on an impulse when I saw a Buckethead cd under Jazz on the system at work, and it arrived today. It's superb

pixiesfanyo 12-14-2006 12:17 PM

Does anyone have a Bomb The Sun album I could get because they're ****ing tight.

the2stranger 12-14-2006 12:17 PM

Nice you're posting this here.
Accoustic jazz sounds good though.

On doom topic:
I've not been listening to too much doom lately.
I'm back in the binge right now again though, starting of with some Katatonia and some Monolithe.
\m/

What is everyone else listening doomwise?

Give me your email and I'll sent it to you. :)

I was first. :p

pixiesfanyo 12-14-2006 12:21 PM

Can you just send it to me over AIM?

Would that be easier?

the2stranger 12-14-2006 12:22 PM

I don't have AIM. :-\

pixiesfanyo 12-14-2006 12:23 PM

the2stranger 12-14-2006 12:25 PM

pixiesfanyo 12-14-2006 12:34 PM

thx u much

the2stranger 12-14-2006 12:35 PM

No Problem.

I'm still enjoying this massive funeral doom song vy Monolithe.
I love this band.
I love the tranquil(sp?) sound very spacey and hypnotic at times, but heavy at the same time.

Patrick O))) 12-14-2006 12:38 PM

Tranquil like the Sinking Belle? Or just tranquily written doom?

the2stranger 12-14-2006 12:41 PM

Liek Sinking Belle, but more because of the very layered, synth driven riffs.
Monolithe is Funeral doom, so don't expect anything like that Boris track with clean female vox or anything.
Monolithe is great stuff though.
If I had to compare them I'dd say, Shape Of Despair comes pretty close, with hypnotic and synth layered ambiance, whilst not loosing power and the dark sound.

Patrick O))) 12-14-2006 12:44 PM

Haha, I very rarely do :P

I'll have to make a list of bands to check out, I can't really afford to atm because of the amount of orders I still have coming at work, but once those clear up a bit ...

Also, jazz bands worth checking out = Polar Bear (one of the best band names I've EVER heard. Right up there with Dr Teeth And The Electric Mayhem Band) and Acoustic Ladyland

the2stranger 12-19-2006 02:19 PM

Dammit, I hate fishing up this thread on the third page or so. :(

SO, I saw the New Solitude Aeturnus Cd today, it was a limited edition one, digipack, is it worth getting?

On funeral doom:
I've been listening a lot to Monolithe lately. I love them, my ahab binge still hasn't stoppe,d I don't think that Cd has left my CD palyer since I got it (2 months ago or so)
Also, I'm really sad for missing Pantheist last friday.
Stupid transport. :(
I'm making up for that by listening to them now.

np: Pantheist - Gluttony
All hail the organ sound!

Anyone like this band?

pate 12-19-2006 07:38 PM

I don't like the new SA. It's the only one of their albums that I wouldn't call "excellent"

Detox 12-19-2006 07:52 PM

The Sword, thats good stoner metal...Freya is kickass

pate 12-19-2006 08:46 PM

I don't find much worthwhile in The Sword.

Jondur 12-20-2006 04:03 AM

I'm listening to the the new Solitude Aeturnus now. I think it's going to be a grower - at the moment there are only two standout tracks but some of the melody lines from the other songs are starting to get under my skin so who knows? Maybe it'll be my favourite SA album in a couple of months.

The Sword are gayer than Elton John's favourite vase.

Phototropic 12-20-2006 06:46 AM

i just got Surrounded by Thieves in the mail

don't get me wrong i like it alot, just not in that frame of mind atm :( all i've been listening to is Isis recently, GAR

but Hung, Drawn and Quartered is great, what a riffup

AlienEater 12-20-2006 07:16 AM

Yeah it's definitely their worst. I just couldn't get into it.

ATM 12-20-2006 07:36 AM

You got surrounded by thieves in the mall?

AlienEater 12-20-2006 08:25 AM

mail

magicbus 12-20-2006 09:49 AM

So Cult of Luna's pretty fun to listen to. I also really like Isis' Mosquito Control EP. Much better than their newer stuff, which I wasn't diggin' so much.

RetiredAt21 12-20-2006 11:57 AM

Is Funeral Orchestra a doom metal band? I like them.

Shattered_Future 12-20-2006 01:42 PM

I picked up a 2 CD version of In The Rectory... by Reverend Bizarre.

AA-12 12-20-2006 01:53 PM

That album is awesome.

The Sword is awesome too.

They're funeral doom.
Good stuff.

Funeral Doom is one of my favorite genres. \m/

Ah then good times. Those are highly enjoyable.

Sleepy 12-22-2006 10:43 PM

This needed a bump, because Doom and Stoner hardly deserves the third page.

So, I finally checked out the Ahab album that 2stranger uploaded for the DU, and they're basically awesome. Some of the best Funeral Doom I've heard in a long time, with the exception of Monolithe and maybe Devil Doll.

pate 12-22-2006 11:48 PM

I've gotten a ton of doom lately. What pissed me off was that the newest Grand Magus album I got doesn't work. And I fucking love them too.

Good to hear you like it.

I've never heard Devil Doll.

So anyone already d/l the Abdullah?
I did, gonna give it a listen soon. :)

Apocalyptic Raids 12-23-2006 05:59 AM

I haven't checked out and Doom in a while actually.

rippa32 12-23-2006 06:21 AM

I just bought Cathedral's In The Garden Of Unearthly Delights today, im ****ing loving it. Particularly North Berwick Witch Trials. And the apple scented CD is really unique.
