need a small crash for latin music 13-15"
as well a splash for the same genre
14 in k custom fast crash?? try that one.

DruMMeR_BoY14 11-18-2005 08:54 PM
What would you chose out of 20" K Custom Session Ride, 21" A Ping ride, 21" A Sweet Ride (brilliant finish), 20" HHX Evolution Ride or 20" AAX stage Ride?
22" a Ping or the stage. The evo ride would be worth looking at as well, I've heard some good stuff about it.

sweet rides in brilliant are disgusting, the trads look so much better.

I was surprised at 21" A Ping aswell. I'm so sure they don't make them that size aswell but that's what I was told it was... find out on Monday.

I really like the Sweet Ride in Brilliant, and don't like the Evo much. I think I'm gonna rule that out myself.

DruMMeR_BoY14 11-19-2005 07:18 AM

barker fanboy. :p

3_times_round 11-19-2005 07:40 AM

My first choice at the moment is the 20" K custom Session. Suck on my Steve Gadd-ness. :thumb:

chewaz 11-19-2005 10:57 AM

wich should i pick AA rock ride 22" or HH rock ride 22"? and how about a 24"? O.O

oliv_da_skinmasher 11-19-2005 11:04 AM

I would say go with the HH, i love the whole series

and if you mean the 24" AA rock ride its a good ride i was considering it myself

straycat101 11-19-2005 11:22 PM

can anyone give me oppinions on the 20'' AA Medium Ride? i relaly lik the sound of this. but what would be the Zildjian/Paiste eqivilent?

moogoogaipan 11-19-2005 11:52 PM

I'm getting a 20" K custom session ride for christmas along with the K custom 12" session hi-hat... now suck on my Steve Gaddness

If you like it, then get it. Sabian should be cheaper than ZIlj and Paiste anyways.

As for the ZIldjian equivelent, it would be a 20" A Medium Ride. The closest thing Paiste would have would probably be a 20" 2002 ride I'd think.

I'm getting it on Tuesday, I'll be more Steve Gadd than you for over a month  (Unless I go for a Ping ride)

moogoogaipan 11-20-2005 11:26 AM

 *sheds a tear*

You lucky bastard...i'll just have to overcompensate when they get here

definatly go for the k session ride, you will regret it later if you don't

3_times_round 11-21-2005 02:55 PM

Tomorrow :D 3 months in the waiting... Bye bye (eventually!) ZXT Rock Ride!

playwithfire 11-21-2005 03:11 PM

^Man those are craptastic... I had one of those for quite a while... terrible rides.

As to whoever asked what the equivalent in Zildjian is to the Sabian AA 20" Medium ride... I would say the A Zildjian 20" Medium ride... they are more or less identical.

Yep, truely terrbiel. Thank feck it's going. Will finally have pro cymbal set-up!

12" A Custom Mastersounds
16" A custom Crash
17" K Custom Fast Crash
19" A Custom Crash
20" K Custom Session Ride

:D

DruMMeR_BoY14 11-21-2005 05:06 PM

Man thats an awesome cymbal setup. All I need to do is get rid of my B8 china and I'm done (besides buying a K crash, a few more splashes, another 2 chinas and some Aux. hats). but atm i owe parents 500 bucks for double pedals, so I think I'll get that paid first.

rborghino 11-21-2005 06:28 PM

Dude, thats alot better than my setup:
B8 20" ride
B8 pro 18" china
AAX 14" studio crash
Paiste 2002 16" craah
I also have a 10" splash, 14" hats and 18" crash/ride by Meinl but i dont know the exact line (they sound like a mediun-quality line) but i got them reallt cheap like at 150 dollars in mexico

rborghino 11-21-2005 06:32 PM

i want to change my ride any suggestions..........?
Paiste or Sabian

rborghino 11-21-2005 06:33 PM

Also, just curious, why does nobody seem to lie paistes?

playwithfire 11-21-2005 07:36 PM

It's not that they aren't liked, it's that they are insanely expensive.

Chester 11-21-2005 08:55 PM

i love paistes i just am a cheap bastard

thenewguy515 11-21-2005 09:48 PM

pretty much what they said^^

i need a ride with a fast decay pingy sound. price about $200 or under.

mysticalyeti 11-21-2005 10:01 PM

I love Paiste cause I'm smart and get good deals on them! >_>

ian1988 11-21-2005 11:40 PM

Im looking at getting the same Ride sound that Morgan Rose from Sevendust gets. Its sounds almost like he is hitting a metal bar. It sounds very clean and still really distinctive. It says on the Website he uses a A-Ping Ride but i am unsure if he might have changed his ride as I tried out a Z Custom Power Ride and it sounded exactly the same and its profile said that it was a VERY Pingy ride.

Seeing I am a Paiste Fanboy, Would the Paiste Rude Power Rides be the exact comparison as it is said to be rather pingy aswell?

playwithfire 11-22-2005 01:11 PM

Then again, it sounds very pingy when he's playing with a band that covers up the overtones... so it probably is an A Custom, if I remember right he's an A Custom lackie.

I tried out a 22" Z Custom Power ride, worst piece of scrap metal I've ever played, I prefered a ZXT Rock ride to it... and it was so heavy to boot, just rang forever.

GooseFilms.net 11-22-2005 02:09 PM

China
18"+
Dark
Thin
Sound is best described as "Kahhh"
Short to medium decay

DruMMeR_BoY14 11-22-2005 05:55 PM
i want to change my ride any suggestions..........?
Paiste or Sabian
Well depends what soudn you want and how big your budget is. Paiste I'd suggest either a sig. or 2002 ride if your willing to fork out the cash.

Sabian you could try the AAX Stage ride, AA Rock ride, AA Medium. Its a bit hard when we dont have anything to go off, but you could look into those lines some more and see what you like.

Goosefilms - 19" K Dark China.

Mike Goes Numb 11-22-2005 05:56 PM

I'm liking the sound of the 21" HHX groove ride, but is it versatile enough for both most rock styles and funk/latin? Because I'm essentially looking for a ride with good tone, sustain, volume, medium pitch/brightish and definition. The groove ride seems to do well for all of those, I'd just like to get some opinions.

Goosefilms - 19" K Dark China.
Do you mean 19" K China or 19" K Custom Dark China?

On the website, they all sound too dull and clangy, but i think they lightly tap it with the bead. I bet none of those china clips sound at all like they do in person.

FL3P 11-22-2005 07:06 PM

Chinas are hard to get a feel for in sound clips.

Iskandar 11-22-2005 07:15 PM
Chinas are hard to get a feel for in sound clips.
Make that "all cymbals." I don't trust sound clips myself. They're only useful for giving a general idea.

FL3P 11-22-2005 07:17 PM

I find that the clips on the Zildjian site are pretty helpful.

samsamthegiantman 11-22-2005 08:09 PM

I've been looking into some Ride Cymbals and I came to the Zildjian Custom Z cymbal.

Linky: http://www.zzounds.com/item--ZDJZC20R

If anyone could name the Pros and Cons of these cymbals that would be great.

Thanks

FL3P 11-22-2005 08:12 PM

I had one and liked it very much. It does have a nice ping and bell and I didnt find it to be overpowering.

Are there any cons you would like to tell me, baby?:naughty:

FL3P 11-22-2005 08:19 PM

Well if you like to crash your ride then you dont want this one, otherwise if you want a nice heavy rock ride I would say give this a try.................and you relly threw me off with the "baby".

Would this be a good ride cymbal for Jazz, though?

FL3P 11-22-2005 08:21 PM

I would say not, try some K's for jazz.

samsamthegiantman 11-22-2005 08:25 PM
I would say not, try some K's for jazz.
But, what's the difference? What's so good about the K series?

Sorry abvout bothering you.
