Bazarov 03-07-2006 07:23 PM

Beat me to it. I was going to ask if you were going. Did you see them at Soma last year?

I'm Charming 03-07-2006 07:27 PM

07/16 - Salem, OR @ Salem Armory

You had to remind me that they are going to Salem and NOT Portland of course right?

Bazarov 03-07-2006 07:28 PM

Is Salem quite a distance from Portland?

I'm Charming 03-07-2006 07:29 PM
Is Salem quite a distance from Portland?
Hour and a half. Prolly two if there's traffic.

South of Portland, capital of Oregon FTR.

Bazarov 03-07-2006 07:32 PM

That really isn't too bad. I have a friend who is a huge dream theater fan boy, this weekend he's driving up to LA which is about 2 hours on a good traffic day to see them. Plus he's got tickets to see them in New York this summer. But I guess it's all about transportation and who can supply you with a ride if you cannot give yourself.

Nah, i missed them last year. That´s why i´m so excited, this is gonna be my first slayer concert.

Bazarov 03-07-2006 08:02 PM

Cool yeah. You'll have a blast. Tickets are on sale this Friday, I know the concert won't sell out until possibly a few weeks till the day of the event, but I have this thing about buying tickets the first day they go on sale.

SimonCore 03-08-2006 12:04 PM

Do they do the big Arenas in USA?

burn_my_eyes 03-08-2006 12:09 PM

I saw them play at a festival last year in England, was pretty cool since it was the 1st time i've seen Slayer.
The pit looked kind of scary, so I stayed out but watched from the sides.
They do quite big venues in england, they did last time they played which was the tour with slipknot.

SimonCore 03-08-2006 12:13 PM

King did say theyre doing some European dates right?

I love Slayer mosh pits, they are the best I've ever been in, except maybe Lamb of God. Was it Download you saw them at? I was there. And saw them when they toured with Slipknot as well.

Bazarov 03-08-2006 05:29 PM
Do they do the big Arenas in USA?
They probably have in the past. But when I saw them, it was a small venue it only holds around 2500 people. And the I think the Sports Arena (where I'm going to see them this time) holds I think 15-20,000 people.

I like having my teeth in my mouth. :p People where coming out with blood all over their faces when I saw.

Damn, you guys beat me to it. I thought butcher would crap himself seeing that their first stop is SD.

I don't care how many metrolink trains and metro buses I've gotta take, I'm seeing them in long beach.

The setlist is just amazing: Slayer, Lamb of God, Children of Bodom AND Mastodon.

MRDuCran 03-08-2006 05:38 PM

I broke my nose in a Slayer pit. Well, I was kinda at the side but everyone fell over and it was just my luck that a fat dude fell on me, bastard. I had to go the back for some water and a tissue n sh!t, great show though, I enjoyed War Ensemble and Disciple the most.

 That sucks, it reminds me of when Jeff was talking about the guy who fell of the balcony onto the stage and broke his leg.

Oh I did. Then I started screaming like a deranged lunatic, then I did a mad frenzy of IMing friends.

From the War at the Warfield DVD right??

The guy even got up and carried on headbanging with a bit of bone sticking out of his leg (if I remember correctly)...\m/

In the Slayer in their own Words doccumentary, Slayer said that at least one person gets hurt in their concerts.

Also, is the tour all ages.

heavy metal kid 03-08-2006 07:36 PM

Awesome, thanks.

This year is gonna be awesome, too many good things.

SimonCore 03-10-2006 10:44 AM

Yes. I just re-read an article on slayersaves.net and king said it's coming to the UK....

superflyjojo 03-11-2006 04:20 PM

Fucking awesome, I got my tickets earlier today, to the 6/16/06 show in East Rutherford, NJ. Anyone else going to this show?

BLS_Infernus 03-11-2006 04:24 PM

Sweet they are touring near my area. Get to see Slayer again and with Dave this time. I haven't seen Dave on drums at a show in a long time.

MRDuCran 03-11-2006 04:40 PM

The Unholy Alliance tour? Holy shit, that makes me a very happy man. :)

SimonCore 03-11-2006 05:00 PM

^ yup should be better than last time aswell. Lamb of God, Bodom AND mastodon!! I hope it's an arena shabang.

My date is far better 6/6/06 :p

I'm going to try and see them twice on this tour. If I get lucky I'll see them on their first and last American date.

6/6/'6 lol. That ain't good for superstitious people lol.

BLS_Infernus 03-11-2006 05:09 PM

There is a movie coming out that day about the Devil. Go see that movie then the Slayer show...face.

Thor 03-11-2006 08:10 PM
The Unholy Alliance tour? Holy shit, that makes me a very happy man. :)
Same here. Where are you going to go see them?

Bazarov 03-11-2006 08:22 PM

I do believe that Thor has one of the best avatars on MX.

MRDuCran 03-11-2006 08:29 PM
Same here. Where are you going to go see them?
If it comes to the UK it'll be anywhere in London, so I'll be going there.

Thor 03-11-2006 08:29 PM
I do believe that Thor has one of the best avatars on MX.
Aye, I certainly do. :thumb:

I'm currently on a Slayer binge and since Reign in Blood is their best album, I found it more than fitting to make it my avatar. The opening riff in "Jesus Saves" is way too awesome.

NP - Slayer - Criminally Insane
If it comes to the UK it'll be anywhere in London, so I'll be going there.
Sucks for you man, this looks like it's only going to be a USA tour.

Bazarov 03-11-2006 08:35 PM

Yeah. Jesus Saves is my favorite song on RIB just because of that intro.

Thor 03-11-2006 08:38 PM
Yeah. Jesus Saves is my favorite song on RIB just because of that intro.
It's a solid song, but certainly not my favorite. Angel of Death is my favorite song off of the album, just for being a sheer classic.

but even though this is my favorite Slayer album, the song "South of Heaven" remains to be my favorite Slayer track.

BLS_Infernus 03-11-2006 08:41 PM

Personally I never go into RIB. I'm more of a South of Heaven and Season in the Abyss person.

Thor 03-11-2006 08:42 PM
Personally I never go into RIB. I'm more of a South of Heaven and Season in the Abyss person.
I was a HUGE fan of those albums last year, but now I'm all about RIB. I still listen to all three, but RIB just seems to be in my cd player much more often.

But alas, all Slayer songs bow down to the mighty "South of Heaven".

Apocalyptic Raids 03-11-2006 08:45 PM

Reign In Blood and Hell Awaits are Slayer's best.

I like SOH, but I don't really listen to it much. Tom's vocals went downhill after RIB :(

Seasons was good, but had some filler.

BLS_Infernus 03-11-2006 08:46 PM

Oh boy did Seasons have some fillers but with songs like Dead Skin Masks it kind of saves the album.

Apocalyptic Raids 03-11-2006 08:49 PM

I don't really like Dead Skin Mask. I got sick of it.

I find with Seasons the fast tracks (besides War Ensemble) were filler, but the mid paced stuff was good. Blood Red is my favourite from Seasons.

Bazarov 03-11-2006 08:52 PM

AoD is a great song. Well I love everysong on that album. And my favorites seem to change.

At Dawn They Sleep is still my favorite all time Slayer song.

I haven't given Seasons in the Abyss a listen in a while. I'll have to listen again.
