BuddyBigsby 06-09-2005 09:29 PM

They played here the other night but I was at MLIW. They're going to be playing DC when I'm there this month but... nah.

AndreTheHyena 06-09-2005 09:34 PM

I might try and see them in KC, on their FINAL LAST SHOW EVER.

SunnyDayRealEstateAM 06-09-2005 09:35 PM
I didn't get to see the Get Up Kids. They sold out.
Dude that sucks

Wow 06-09-2005 09:52 PM
Whoa, I didn't realize Makara had a girl.
If you listen really closely, you can tell the singer's a girl.

SGlove 06-09-2005 11:02 PM
You cant put a price on love. Question for y'all: Are there any more decent bands with girl vocalists aside from CTTS, Kylesa and Iwouldsetmyselfonfire? Am loving the ladies right now.
The Assistant.

Just bought Yaphet Kotto "We Bury Our Dead Alive" and The Saddest Landscape.
No one touch me.
I'm like goo-boy.

StandingStill 06-10-2005 04:54 AM

Cheers for the tips on the girls, did. You guys heard of Analena? Stumbled across them other day, pretty good stuff.

The Assistant has a girl?

poiuy trewq 06-10-2005 05:09 PM

Tonight I am seeing anberlin, acceptance, code seven, and the main reason I'm going--saosin.

BuddyBigsby 06-10-2005 05:13 PM

Wrong thread, but I would love to see Codeseven. I might go see them next week if I'm off.

That show was on the other stage at the Kids Like Us show last night.

Bartender 06-10-2005 07:10 PM

Are Grade worth checking out?

StandingStill 06-10-2005 07:14 PM

Yeah, they were cool. Shame about what happened after though...

Bartender 06-10-2005 07:15 PM

What is that? I'm completely ignorant to anything about them, other than that they are called Grade. A recommended release would be nice, too.

vocman 06-11-2005 04:26 AM

I have a question: can anyone upload some Emo for me? I Think I never heard it, because all the things I thought were emo turned out to be metalcore or something...

thx in advance

ps: which genre are the fall of troy?

Get 'Under The Radar' I think its generally considered to be their best album. After Grade the singer went on to form some abysmal pop-punk band whos name escapes me right now.

vocman 06-11-2005 06:41 AM

thank you very much. indeed, it doesn't sound like metalcore...

~All my life~ 06-11-2005 05:57 PM

To me, alot of emo music sounds very...um random. Esspecially old emo.

Wow 06-11-2005 06:10 PM

No song structures = hot.

syurix 06-11-2005 10:57 PM

In agreeance

Kill Sadie "The Laugh Track for Contemporary Music"
Antioch Arrow "Space Age"

After that, your listening to free jazz ;)

Anyone else have recs for scr/emo stuff that's got weird or no obvious structure?

Electric Ocean 06-12-2005 01:46 PM

People have been clogging the emo section of Sputnik with non-emo stuff again, can we get rid of it?

SpecialBoy 06-12-2005 03:33 PM

Straylight Run...

Electric Ocean 06-13-2005 06:20 AM

Sure, I'll do I Would Set Myself's Self-Titled when I get some free time.

StrivingForChange 06-13-2005 02:07 PM

Does anyone else listen to I Hate Myself? They are a really good band. It's too bad they didn't put out more albums.
They are screamo but are very diverse at the same time.
If you're interested check out songs: To A Husband At War and Conversations With Dr. Seussicide.

BuddyBigsby 06-13-2005 02:15 PM

IHM were a great band.

Oh cool. Do you have Four Songs? I only have Ten Songs. I've heard most of the songs on Four, but that was awhile ago.
If you could send them to me through e-mail or AIM that would be cool.

BuddyBigsby 06-13-2005 02:24 PM

I only have some random mp3s, none of their releases whole.

how could i forget?

LoveReality 06-13-2005 06:31 PM

I might see The Fall of Troy and this band i like called Maida at The Knitting Factory in Hollywood. This other band called ABW is playing but I never heard them.

LoveReality 06-13-2005 06:36 PM

I also might see Nevea Tears, Planes Mistaken For Stars, Bear Vs Shark, In Memory Bullet Train To Vegas , and Shotblue at the same venue on the 18th.

BuddyBigsby 06-13-2005 07:16 PM

Dude, you need to hop off of that Nevea Tears train.

cbmartinez 06-13-2005 07:18 PM

I still don't get the big deal about PMFS.

I HIGHLY recommend this local band. They're not emo/screamo, but they're pretty grindy stuff that I figure a lot of you will dig. They thrive on movie samples too, but do an awesome job with incorporating them into the music, unlike most. Think of it as Cinema Grind. At least check out the link, if nothing more, you'll get a good laugh.

RetiredAt21 06-14-2005 05:30 PM

Cinema Grind? That's just crazy enough to work.

pixiesfanyo 06-14-2005 05:43 PM

Bigsby that sounds like every other grind band.

What we need is a grind band that has a DJ who makes samples into lyrics.

Chiller_Than_Most 06-14-2005 05:47 PM
Bigsby that sounds like every other grind band
Yeah, just about every "white belt" grind band does that.

BuddyBigsby 06-14-2005 11:13 PM

No. They do it better. You people know nothing.
