I cannot wait for the new album, you guys don't understand!

bucket 04-30-2005 06:33 PM

No, I'm actually pretty sure we all understand..

:agonysmiley:

/rips hair out

I was playing my guitar the other day when I came up with something that I thought sounded good... but then I realized I was using pretty much exactly the same chords as Still Day Beneath the Sun... and the baseline of Hope Leaves...

:upset:

Darkness 04-30-2005 06:35 PM

^ Thats happened to me... I thought I wrote something but it turned out to be just like a rage against the machine song...

Kaiwaz 05-01-2005 09:15 AM

I hope the new Opeth Album has at least 12 songs on it. :thumb:

MadSeasonAbove 05-01-2005 09:25 AM

Thats pushing it with Opeth. 12 songs? Figuring they like to play long songs. But who knows?

Kaiwaz 05-01-2005 09:27 AM

I'm talking about 3 discs. That would be badass.

I'd be happy with 6 or 7 Lengthy songs.

MadSeasonAbove 05-01-2005 09:45 AM

Oh lord yes, a three disc set....that would be badass. An Opeth overload. I wouldnt know what to do.

Kaiwaz 05-01-2005 09:50 AM

 I know what I would do...

I'd quit my job, move into my moms basement and listen to it for 6 months straight...then when she kicks me out, I'd end up in Idaho somewhere with $4.32 cents in my pocket, with no place to go, holding the legendary ''3 Disk-Set''. And whenever I talk to someone, it would be a quote from a lyric from a song on that ''3-Disk-Set'', eventually leading me to an Insane Asylum. :amaze:

..... O_O.....
ookie lol, but wow, i'd probably faint or some **** if they released a 3-disk set...ooommgggg that'd be sooo fugggin phat, i would buy it, then buy like 10 posters, 'n' yeahhh lol, i'm tryin to repaint my room, and in black light paint, have the Opeth Logo on my wall :-D ^_^

 Does anyone know a release date? :'( I need to know!!

MadSeasonAbove 05-01-2005 09:53 AM

...then a required labotomy. :thumb:

DesiOzymandias 05-01-2005 09:55 AM

oh yeah and flynn, would 12 songs really take up 3 disks? That's like what 210 mins of music w/ 3 disks... 210/12 = about 17,5 min songs, what are they gonna do, make 12 songs about the length of Black Rose Immortal??.... wait, why the hell am i complaining.... *drool* that would be amazing.....

DesiOzymandias 05-01-2005 09:56 AM
...then a required labotomy. :thumb:
lmfao.... that'd be hilarious... :thumb: Good call w/ that one

Kaiwaz 05-01-2005 09:58 AM

 Well...since they really don't write anything over 11 minutes much anymore, yeah.

the2stranger 05-01-2005 10:07 AM

I would like to see some longer songs actually.

more towards Orchid length songs. 13 minute songs or wo would be nice.
I was dissapointed a bit by the 'short' songs on dämanation, they can pull of long and soft songs ( a fair judgement) , so why not 10 minute tracks on dämnation?

Kaiwaz 05-01-2005 10:09 AM

I'm not sure. I have my reasons why I think they did that, but I am not typing anything.

Txus 05-01-2005 10:10 AM

When is the new cd getting released ?

the2stranger 05-01-2005 10:11 AM

you think the tracks would become boring, if they stretched them out further?

Kaiwaz 05-01-2005 10:15 AM
you think the tracks would become boring, if they stretched them out further?
hmm, I think around 13 minutes is perfect.

the2stranger 05-01-2005 10:23 AM

I meant the tracks odf dämnation :p

I dont know.Black Rose Immortal takes alot out of me once Im through with it.But I still enjoy every minute of it.I dont really care how long they are, as long as they are done well. The Moor is 11 and a half minutes long, but to me it feels likes its only 5 minutes. It finishes, and Im like "Fuck, I want more!!!"

10-13 minutes would be good.

Kaiwaz 05-01-2005 06:42 PM

Exactly...The Moor is tight

Rothmans 05-01-2005 06:54 PM

Agreed. My Player count over 120 times I've listened to that song. :thumb:

''Granted you, a hollow stare
Another soul within the divine herd...''

Grey Incision 05-01-2005 08:31 PM

Blackrose immortal rules!

My playcount isn't as high as yours Flynn:p but still, 98 isn't too bad! it's just an allround class song which contains one of the greatest opeth solo's (16:34 i think) along with the twilight is my robe solo

Kaiwaz 05-01-2005 09:40 PM

yeah, not only that...but the acoustic guitars beginning at 9:43. And the climax. :thumb:

Rothmans 05-01-2005 09:56 PM
yeah, not only that...but the acoustic guitars beginning at 9:43. And the climax. :thumb:
To be honest you were the one that opened my eyes to that bit. Now I love it ;)

We weren't aloud to play 20 minutes at school, so our band played from that section until the next heavy part :thumb: classic stuff.

Deth 05-02-2005 07:45 AM

From about 10:00 to 14:00, BRI is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard.

Darkness 05-02-2005 06:58 PM

I think The Moor is an amazing song... up there with my other fav Opeth tracks. Whenever it ends I'm like "I WANT MORE!!".

Which is why I'm glad that Godhead's Lament kicks in as it does. IMO there's not another song on the planet that could follow the Moor. :thumb: I actually like Godhead's a little better than the Moor.....the whole "Searching My Way to Perplexion" bit is amazing. The Moor probably has one of the top 5 greatest intros of all time, though.

I like the intro to ''To Bid You Farewell'' the best. Sets the mood for the entire song. Absolutely mournful and uplifting at the same time.

relliK 05-03-2005 10:38 PM

Still Life is just my favorite album in the whole wide world.I can listen to it over and over and never get sick of it.
