Well_Respected_Man 12-06-2004 03:33 PM

The Byrds - Younger That Yesterday
Cursive - The Ugly Organ
NoMeansNo - Wrong
The Residents - The Commercial album
The New Pornographers - Mass Romatic
A.C Newman - Self Titled
Gong - YOu

I'll been getting lazy at ranting about every new album I hear so this will do.

Luxor 12-06-2004 08:29 PM

Today I've listened to:

My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Damien Rice - O
The Faint - Danse Macabre

RIPJoeStrummer 12-06-2004 09:07 PM

The Blood Brothers - Burn Piano Island, Burn

It's fucking brilliant. And I hardly even enjoy that type of music.

NineBitFable 12-06-2004 10:21 PM

I hate usernames- your avatar is awesome, especially since the album i'm into right now is Loveless by My Bloody Valentine... its just insane.

Plainlazy 12-07-2004 02:00 PM

Plainlazy 12-07-2004 02:04 PM

also Howards Alias - Exile and Opening Axe - Tragedy

juggalotricksta 12-07-2004 02:10 PM

Lately Ive been listening to Gwen Stefanis solo cd. Its strangely compelling. Good tracks to check out are:

What You Waiting For?
Rich Girl
Hollerback Girl
Bubble Pop Electric

And Im also addicted to American Idiot but Im trying to restrict myself from listening to it so as not to play it out. My favorite tracks on there:

Jesus of Suburbia
Boulevard of Broken Dreams
St. Jimmy
Shes a Rebel
Wake Me Up When September Ends

Plainlazy 12-07-2004 02:53 PM

yes, thankyou! i love shes a rebel but most of my mates say whatshername is way better. they are wrong.

The Ashtray Girl 12-07-2004 03:31 PM

Jesus of Suburbia is an amazing song.

Today I listened to a lot of Scissor Sisters and The Coral.

Tangy zizzle 12-07-2004 03:39 PM
Question for Iai (or anyone else who is an Afghan Whigs fan): What's a good Whigs album to get after Gentlemen?
I like Congregation, although that's the only one I've heard properly.

Iai 12-08-2004 02:51 PM
Question for Iai (or anyone else who is an Afghan Whigs fan): What's a good Whigs album to get after Gentlemen?
Depends what you're after.

1965 is basically a soul album. I wouldn't really recommend it; not till you've heard the rest and liked them.

Black Love has more soul influences than Gentlemen, and moves away from grunge somewhat. There's a couple of pretty average tracks, but three tracks (Blame Etc., My Enemy, Faded) are better than most of Gentlemen. I'd say this one.

Congregation, though, is a pure Sub-Pop album. Really grungy, and really punky in places, with a few tracks that show what they'd go on to do on Gentlemen. I like it slightly less than Black Love, but Tangy prefers this to Gentlemen. And it converted Ashtray. :p

My Soulseek is Iai, and I'm sharing both Black Love and Congregation. Feel free to download a couple tracks from both and see for yourself. Or if you were planning to download rather than buy, have them from me. :)

Happymeal 12-08-2004 09:26 PM

I think I'm gonna buy Damage or Plastic Fang this weekend..

biografiend 12-08-2004 09:34 PM

Sigur Ros' Von just got released in the states not too long ago, and i just got it today. its a pretty good album, but not as good as ( ).

Tangy zizzle 12-08-2004 11:24 PM

Congregation is the sure bet to buy after Gentleman.

As Iai said, I prfer it to Gentleman - but they're both top albums. The Afghan Whis are so underrated.
I think I'm gonna buy Damage or Plastic Fang this weekend..
Yeah, I'm planning on getting Damage pretty soon too.

Tangy zizzle 12-08-2004 11:29 PM

Hah, You guys are so slow.

Little Man being Erased 12-08-2004 11:34 PM

If I could buy every album that I want in one go I would. Unfortunately, I'm quite poor and I can't buy heaps of albums.
