Physics... isn't for me.

I'm not a math kind of guy.

One Groovin Clown 10-19-2006 10:25 AM

I found physics to be really dull.
Now Biology, that's where it's at :thumb:

I played a Peavey Cirrus last night, and I'm here to publicly apologize for every bad thing that I have said about Peavey on these boards.

Spaceman Spiff 10-19-2006 11:05 AM

I played a Peavey Milestone, which is kind of crappy. It's the only Peavey I've played, but as I've said, I like their amps.

Jimbobntnr 10-19-2006 11:17 AM

Not a fan of the milestone. I can say that I bought a used Minx 110 amp in 1998 and it has held up really well and the tone isn't all that bad at lower volumes. I use it with my "quiet" band.

I had an audition last night with a really big band in my area and they all said that I did a great job. They're coming to watch me gig on Friday and with any luck I'll get the spot. Keep your fingers crossed, all.

Spaceman Spiff 10-19-2006 11:32 AM

That's pretty cool. What's the band like?

Spaceman Spiff 10-19-2006 11:38 AM

Something odd happened earlier today...

It was 9:30, then all of a sudden it was 10:30. That hour just vanished. It's not like I was doing something then I looked at the clock and noticed an hour has passed, I did just about nothing, it seemed like 5 minutes and the whole hour had just disappeared.

Jimbobntnr 10-19-2006 11:39 AM

Classic /80's rock. It's the sibling of a famous musician's band. They seem pretty nice, but they're all a bit older than I. Not as old as the guys in my current band, though.

Spaceman Spiff 10-19-2006 11:42 AM

What famous musician/band? Someone embarassing? :D

Jimbobntnr 10-19-2006 11:48 AM

depends on what you're into, I guess. He WAS famous in the 70's for rock. Kind of the same era as Free and Foghat. I'll tell you who someday...haha.

Spaceman Spiff 10-19-2006 11:59 AM

Hmm...

Well, it sounds like someone embarassing. :p

Is it likely that I'll even know who it is? Will I hear his name or the band name and break out laughing?

This is fun. :D

Jimbobntnr 10-19-2006 12:13 PM

I don't know. What are you even talking about?

Spaceman Spiff 10-19-2006 12:31 PM

IT'S A JEEP THING, YOU WOULDN'T UNDERSTAND.

ebe9 10-19-2006 12:47 PM

Evening all.

Spaceman Spiff 10-19-2006 12:51 PM

It's only the early afternoon around here.

Howdy.

Well I am pretty much on a par with the UK, about 1 or 2 hours ahead depending on time of year and daylight savings time.

Spaceman Spiff 10-19-2006 01:08 PM

Did you have to deal with that whole Aparthied thing?

Must've been wild...

I was born in 1982, so by the time I actually knew what was going on it was already 1994 and Nelson Mandela of the ANC had been voted as the nerw president

So nope, I did not experience any of it

Just get to live in the post Apartheid era.

Spaceman Spiff 10-19-2006 01:17 PM

I see.

I don't really have anything else to say about, it was something I was wondering about for a while but just kept forgetting to ask you if you really experienced it or not.

Nope, it had already wound right down by 1982.

British Kid 10-19-2006 01:32 PM

thats good

Spaceman Spiff 10-19-2006 01:37 PM

It doesn't seem like it would have been too bad if you were white.

Still fucked up, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's good, but it seems like the whites had it made. At least that's how I've seen it portrayed.

TheClap 10-19-2006 02:00 PM

So, Braces suck.

whats up?

Oh believe me they did. You were pretty much guarenteed a job the moment you walked out of high school.

The whole thing was very skewed in the whites favour.

The whole system was wrong.

But to a point the reverse is now happening, in terms of the workplace.

Affirmative action is written into our constitution, so basically where all the opportunities were for whites the reverse has now happened, basically a way to try and make up for the past discrimination.

Eye for an Eye over there, huh?

Pretty much.

I general feeling is that the who affirmative action needs to be toned down a bit as it is forcing the "previously advantaged" to seek work outside of the country.

Then the government complains about "brain drain".

I do feel its become more of a "pay back" rather than a means of righting past wrongs and discrimination.

I would be prepared to let it go on another 4-8 years at most, that way enough people could have gone through the entire schooling system.

Yeah, thats pretty rough, although being a white guy its harder to form an unbiased opinion. But, in this case, I don't know who couldn't.
