TakeWarning 04-29-2006 10:34 PM

I was singing that song in the shower this morning, it's a classic.

Antifa 04-29-2006 10:59 PM

I just wrote this, I hope some of you will agree with it:

You used to write songs that meant something to me
Made me believe in punk again, gave me some hope
But that all went out the window when you repressed the Crime EP
You've moved away from the you of old and I'll have to cope

Now you're concerned with the grander scheme
You've forgotten what you said, got up and moved on
Away from the idea of a perfect underground scene
Where everybody's happy and everyone belongs

Now your fans will grow in number with every single tour
They'll spend less time on your music and more time on their hair
Will they comprehend what you used to stand for?
Oh Tom Gabel do you even fucking care?

Do you think about your ex-ideals, may I enquire?
Now you've abandoned all your sweet anarchist rants
You blown it all to hell, you've gone and signed with Sire
Now you're labelmates with Spongebob Squarepants

Now everything you say is suspect, every single word
You can no longer make me believe, no longer make me think
All that leaves your lips is now only a turd
Falling from your mouth, straight into my drink

Just another well-oiled cog in the elite system
Any integrity you had is gone, your new message is hollow
Shaking hands with business mean when you used to resist them
Just another strained chorus, another "WHOA-OH-OH"

Singing piles of money make you rich and Baby, I'm a Capitalist
But though you've abandoned it your old message is not dead
You introduced to idea into thought-dreams and there it still exists
The place where everyone's belongs will live on in your fan's heads

Because I'll still get your records and when you play I'll still go see
But I'll remember when you gave me reason to believe
As you ride off into the horizon of money and MTV
And mark you down as one more fallen at the altar of greed

One more band that I loved, that has turned against me
I like it, especially since they abandoned their politics a long time ago. Send it to them.

obese_breasts 04-30-2006 01:35 AM

I am beginning to think ATEC is better than RAR.
I am beginning to think ATEC is better than RAR.
I've been thinking that for ages.

I've listened to RAR to much so its gotten boring.

TakeWarning 04-30-2006 02:52 AM

I 've always found RAR boring. Always liked it alot but it does get a little boring. Especially in We Laugh At Danger where it does like 96 choruses in a row.
Farewell, Good Fellows your ways are not for me
Farewell, Good Fellows your ways are not for me
Rest upon your laurels, glad you've found your peace but
Farewell, Good Fellows your ways are not for me

Rapping at the chapel door
Sweeping up an enemies floor
Do not touch or make a sound
Keep your eyes upon the ground

I read your countless volumes
Shunned your many sins
But I cannot find salvation
In the rattling of your tins

I wish good to your children
And their own children too
But your armour will not fit me
Although fine it's suiting you

Farewell, Good Fellows your ways are not for me
Farewell, Good Fellows your ways are not for me
Rest upon your laurels, glad you've found your peace
Farewell, Good Fellows your ways are not for me

A flag is waved, a bomb is thrown
So many names and dates to know
Books upon the books are stacked
To get something so simple back

We're talking revolution
But spirals not the spins
Where you fall down dizzy
And forget where to begin

I wish good to your children
And their own children too
But your armour will not fit me
Although fine it's suiting you

Suiting you, suiting you
Suiting you, suiting you

Turn your blessings into weapons
And hold them before your chest
To you and all your comrades
I only wish the best

We may not meet again
For we are treading separate trails
But I'll cast off at dinner
You won't seize the roads or rails

From chapels to the army
Magicians to the knave
You'll either blaze your own trail
Or you're diggin your own grave

I wish good to your children
And their own children too
But your armour will not fit me
Although fine it's suiting you

Your armour will not fit me
Your armour will not fit me
Although fine it's suiting you
Your armour will not fit me
Your armour will not fit me
Although fine it's suiting you

So farewell, good fellows
Farewell, Good Fellows your ways are not for me
Farewell, good fellows
Farewell, Good Fellows your ways are not for me
Not for me
wtf?

Angry Balled Fists! 04-30-2006 04:13 AM

Erik Petersen ftw.

And yeah overall, i think ATEC maybew is better, RAR has more "classics" but ATEC is so god dam cool.

If only it was a bit longer :(
I 've always found RAR boring. Always liked it alot but it does get a little boring. Especially in We Laugh At Danger where it does like 96 choruses in a row.
Yeah that song has too many choruses.
My favourite AM! songs right now are: This **** rules, Clichee Guevara, You look like I need a drink, Pints of guinnes make you strong, untitled and Ya'll don't wanna step to dis.

asdf 04-30-2006 07:59 AM

I've been taking a good long break of Against Me! since I went through a phase where I listened to so much of them. It lasted months. I don't want to ruin them like I've ruined so many other great bands that I've listened to way too much. (radiohead, the residents...)

Bukowski 04-30-2006 08:01 AM

I Still Love You Julie is the best.

Angry Balled Fists! 04-30-2006 08:05 AM

*One of the best.

I love it.

TakeWarning 04-30-2006 10:13 AM
I Still Love You Julie is the best.
Yeah I think you're right.

Henrik 04-30-2006 11:05 AM

Nooooo way, one of Against me!'s weaker songs.

Angry Balled Fists! 04-30-2006 12:23 PM

Wrong ^^^

I was just watching the Were never going home dvd and i've oficially decided that "Those anarcho punx..." is their best live song and best song ever overall.

Also, does anyone know what song the "new song" on it is ? Because it's amazing and i wonder if anyone has it or anyhing ?

It's called Take Aim. Its from the stolen demos. I can send you them on aim if you want

Angry Balled Fists! 04-30-2006 02:10 PM

Yeah, could you send me all the stolen demo's plz ?
It's called Take Aim. Its from the stolen demos. I can send you them on aim if you want
I call it 'Exhaustion'. It was by far my favorite song on the demo, I listened to it to death. I can't believe it didn't make SFAFC, it would have fit right in with the album.

I seem to have the oppisite problem as everyone else. Rather than trying not to get burnt out on AM!, I try to listen to other stuff but I always go back to listening to AM! because they're just so ****ing good. I'm starting to do the same thing with the Mountain Goats too. Everything just seems to pale in comparison.

Weezerfan_returns 04-30-2006 02:48 PM
I Still Love You Julie is the best.
I don't really like it that much.

My favorite AM! songs are...

Pints of Guiness, We Laugh at Danger, From Her Lips to God's Ears, We Did It All For Don, All that We Worked For, Jordan's First Choice (acoustic), Rice and Bread, and 8 Full Hours of Sleep.

Man, that's like 8 songs... it's so hard for me to pick favorites.

Angry Balled Fists! 04-30-2006 02:50 PM

I don't think that We laugh at danger is that good.

Brain Toad 04-30-2006 02:53 PM

I listen to AM! sparingly, so each time is a nice experience for me.

shangbang 04-30-2006 03:20 PM
Yeah, could you send me all the stolen demo's plz ?

-danatno10
Yeah. come on aim now and I'll send them

Angry Balled Fists! 04-30-2006 03:21 PM

Hhaa im on :-/

SEND SEND SEND!

shangbang 04-30-2006 03:23 PM

Your not showing up as online for me. IM me at L337lueser and then I'll send them

EDIT: I sent them to the email adress in your profile

Weezerfan_returns 04-30-2006 04:07 PM
I don't think that We laugh at danger is that good.
I think it completely owns I Still Love You Julie. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

asdf 04-30-2006 04:24 PM
I listen to AM! sparingly, so each time is a nice experience for me.
That's a good idea. I'm so sad that there's no thrill to listening to Radiohead or most of The Residents anymore, because I abused it. I listened ot them so much, that I know every note, every line, and there's just nothing new to discover. I was afraid of that happening with Against Me! and now it's been probably over a month since I've listened to them.

me likes punk 04-30-2006 06:04 PM

Was the Stolen Demo actually stolen or was it leaked on purpose?

AIRIC 04-30-2006 06:12 PM

I'm listening to Crystal Ballroom Live bootleg now. Really good.

EDIT:
Leaked on purpose is my bet.

Liebensaft 04-30-2006 06:22 PM

I remember reading that it was actually stolen from AM!'s stuff at a show somewhere.

thepo 04-30-2006 06:51 PM
Was the Stolen Demo actually stolen or was it leaked on purpose?
Physically stolen.

Brain Toad 04-30-2006 06:56 PM
