its complicated. John Travlota was originally the good guy and nick cage was the bad guy. Travlota killed cage, but travlota found out cage planted a bomb somewhere in the city, but the only one who knew where it was was cages brother, so travlota swapped faces with cage to find out where the bomb was, he found out where it was, but then cage woke up, so he got travlotas face, then torched the hospital so they cant get swapped back, then travlota (with cages face) stays in prison while cage (with travlotas face runs ramapnt with travlotas life.
