I mean, Black, Death, and Doom metal are so closley related.
Doom isn't closely related to either death or black metal. At all. It's closely related to Sabbath, Pentagram etc and evolved separately to death and black. so if you're unsure whether it's death or doom then it certainly isn't doom.

symon 03-22-2005 04:16 PM
They are Death, but with a few other things thrown into the mix. Here is something you may wanna look at
Thanks for the link.

No prob

Joe 03-24-2005 03:24 PM

it'd be nice if this were stickied again, considering that new competition just arrived

I somehow doubt my things taking off, people aren't really trying...

Or maybe i'm just impatient/pessemistic

Joe 03-29-2005 11:55 AM

your impatient. i think once a hard rock or a classic rock or a traditional metal comes around it'll take off more.

What a joke : /
.....For example, at the music shop I go to outside of my campus, I decided one day to try out this really nice acoustic guitar while I was waiting for the repairs on my electric. I checked to see if it was in tune, then played the intro to Roundabout by Yes. One of the clerks actually thanked me for having good taste. Why?
Because there's a group of teenage punk-wannabes who regularly file through the store playing every radio single that's been shoved down our throats since the early 90's, and only a couple of them are any good. I was testing out distortion and flanger pedals once by playing Strange Wings by Savatage and Eagleheart by Stratovarius, and a couple of those kids thought I was making it up off the top of my head. And they still thought I was a bad guitarist because I had never learned Enter Sandman.....
Unsurprisingly you remind me of those music nerds in HS cafeteria, sitting in the corner and arguing about who's better: The Monkees or Beach Boys or who dated John Lennon before Yoko, or what length is Pete Townsend's nose or whatever the fuck else your nonsense-infested minds can come up with. You wanna know one thing about that clerk and him 'complementing' on your musical tastes ? Just think about what he is doing for a living  He is a friggen SALES PERSON ! You really think he's say "Gee, what is that tune from ?" or "This kinda sucks, can you play something else ?". Of course he'll compliment your ass ! If you know anything about sales, you'll hopefully see my point. Go ahead, keep being pissed off at 'those kids' for learning radio hits. I can surely live with that, knowing that I can make a living playing those radio covers that you hate sooo much while you are working your boring ass 9 to 5, that you studied so darn hard in college for, sitting in the cubicle sniffing dust all day

Steerpike 03-29-2005 03:51 PM

You don't get it yet, do you?

Ignore list.

Take a hint.
I'm a dumbarse
Yes, because being a rockstar is a sure-fire, high paying career path, with plenty of oppurtunities and positions available.

At least when I get my degree, and I'm sure when Steerpike gets his, we won't be doing 9-5 jobs in a cubicle, and our bank accounts will allow us to throw you a few coins while you play guitar on the streets from 8-8, trying to get a few measley dollars together to pay your crackhead girlfriend rent for her apartment.

i am the robots 03-29-2005 04:55 PM

Wow, that Drone Master guy seemed pretty badass.....

Drone Master II 03-30-2005 09:44 AM

Its nice to see that you have created crap load of accounts to make yourself look like you have friends. Thats an outdated and overused trick...at least in my case - everyone knows that its the same person.
Yes, because being a rockstar is a sure-fire, high paying career path, with plenty of oppurtunities and positions available.
"rockstar" is a cliche, not a job title, you idiot. But, yes... for every hard working, dedicated musician there are, in fact "oppurtunities" available
At least when I get my degree, and I'm sure when Steerpike gets his...
Considering that average life expectancy of American male is 79 years, I probably won't be alive by that time
we won't be doing 9-5 jobs in a cubicle...
Really ? Can you predict that demand for your specialty will remain indefinitely ? Do you have a crystal ball that vividly displays your future ? Its cool, when you get laid off and end up working at some bar cleaning toilets, I'll pop my head in to say "hi" after my band's done playing a gig there
and our bank accounts will allow us to throw you a few coins while you play guitar on the streets from 8-8
I appreciate your generocity, but by saying that I prefer making a living playing music, I didn't mean following footsteps of your scitzophrenic uncle or which ever inbread family member you was referring to in above paragraph
trying to get a few measley dollars together to pay your crackhead girlfriend rent for her apartment
Yes, I happen to have a drug-free g/f that I love very much. Now why don't you share with us how you like your blow-up sheep doll ?

Steerpike 03-30-2005 10:21 AM
Do you have a crystal ball that vividly displays your future ?
Yes.

I also see an Ignore list in your future.

Drone Master III 03-30-2005 10:43 AM

Imbecile.

You have these 'ignore list' threats coming out of your asshole. Next time try to sound more intelligent - don't say anything

Was that bolded comment targeted at me? Cause if you really think that, you are dumb, I have 2 friends who post here: Korned Beef and The Chalupa, I also have 2 other accounts, Clayman and I Am Vikingcore, so shush.

As for your attempt at owning Irongrip, wow you sir are the biggest douche on the internet, you seriously are more dense than Lord Dargon

Drone Master III 03-30-2005 11:18 AM
Was that bolded comment targeted at me?
NO, Eleventeen it wasn't...chill out. I was inferring that HeavyRiva, Steerpike and Lord Dargon are the same person. I have heard that from another user in MX and besides that - its pretty fucking obvious. He is doing a shitty job trying to conceal his alter egos

evilmenhavenosongs 03-30-2005 11:24 AM

Oh yes because he would have made three different accounts and posted 3,000 times on each just so he could make it seem to you that he has friends? Aside from the fact that Steerpike's many times more intelligent than Lord Dargon.

A rockstar is not a paticularly stable job, you get a few gigs in pubs paying very little. Most rockstars had to get a 9-5 job in the beginning to have the money to keep going with their art. And I think you'll find that salesmen in music shops are sick to the back teeth of hearing American Idiot and the opening of Stairway To Heaven. In my local shop there was a sign at one point forbiding people to play Titanic on the piano because they were sick of it.

This is something I have enjoyed

Ok, I have an actual question now.

Cathedral, they seem to me too fast to be doom but I've heard them referred to as such and some songs you can understand that. So, doom or not?

Yeah, it's always said that they are but some of the stuff they do seems to me quite un-doomy. It's an unfathomable mystery. :p
