Six Foot Revolver 07-18-2005 04:32 PM
because as a bassist he has influenced most people in the field of metal bass.

Jason Newstead said in an interview "I sat in the garage and listened to the killers record with my bass over and over again until I got every note"-metal hammer aug '03 issue.

He plays all those galloping basslines without a pick, and is the driving force behind maiden's sound, and the head of the band, without him there would be no maiden, and without maiden there would be no power metal, not thrash metal, therefore no death or black metal...
Good answer :thumb:

I agree with all of the points above and he has also influenced me greatly as a bassist. I wish I voted for him now :upset:

Howdy all.

Here's my recap:

Yes, it was annoying how the Tool fanboys ruined my album poll.

Ollie, yeah, Maiden was a huge influence, but Speed Metal was invented before their time, so Thrash and Power metal would most likely have still developed, albeit without Maiden's influence on their sound.

Leah, if you want me to upload some Melodeath, or if anyone does, let me know. :)

I'm disappointed that everyone ignored my updation of Jake's interview to the MNM

Cain's new article rocks. Did you get those Bach uploads, Lucas?
I've heard Blackwater Park and ****ation, but I didn't really like either.
Well, damnation in my opinion is a terrible album, especially for a supposed progressive band, considering the songs are so predictable.

Then again i am part of the crowd that listen to all the bands similar to Opeth but do it much better, whereas after listening to opeth for so many years have just grown so tired of them.
I have begun to accept pantera as good, walk is a great song I had the problem of only having listened to cemetary gates, thought WTF? and said they were crap.
With that in mind, have you heard Exhorder at all? you know, the band that pantera owes 100% of their carrear to.

And Leah, ill upload an arghoslent song tomorrow for you, for i am quite drunk and have to get up early to do a lot of administrative bullcrap tomorrow. If you dont like it it, then fine, but it is definitely worth checking them out despite their racist tendencies.

It is just like Street Punk, where you have to go to white power bands nowadays to get anything half decent ;)

So I take it you've dismembered and molested this knobjockey before, Alex?

I would have replied with something like "I'll make a deal with you, when you get out of this forum, I'll get out of your mother" but descending to his level would have been stupid of me, even to own him, which you did admirably on your own I may add.
I reported him instead...

Drone is the most thoroughly unfunny yet persistent trolls MX has ever experienced. Way back in December I called him on a really douche-baggy post he made in the genres thread, and two months later he spontaneously reappears being an even bigger dumbass than before.

The flame war went on for a little while before Bart called for a cease fire. I complied, but Drone kept up his petty behavior and got banned.

What followed was a campaign of idiotic and ineffectual savagery in which Drone kept making new accounts every couple of hours every day to alternately appeal his bans which were coming in within hours of his making the account and attacking me (resulting in aforementioned bans).

This went on for a while. Like almost a month. Then, he just vanished. Now he's back.

Lord Abortion 07-18-2005 06:16 PM

anyway, it being a night of tiredness I will toddle off to my deamon-haunted pit of rancid delights... sweet dreams MX...

Bartender 07-18-2005 06:27 PM
Bartender told me a bit ago that deleting votes completely messes up all the votes though
Well I'm not sure about that. I just meant I prefer not to interfere with polls by adding or deleting votes, because the one time I did it I'm not sure the poll worked properly afterwards.
these avatar changes are rather annoying. Am I the only one who identifies posters from their avatars?
I do it too, and yeah, avatar changes can be annoying. Nothing compared to the long period when we just didn't have any avatars, though.

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-18-2005 06:49 PM

 I remember his regular account Alex. I read that "argument" between you and him in the genre thread. It was pathetically one sided. :p

So, here I was home alone, so I decided to record some Tool. I got a start on The Grudge, and then three minutes in, my mom walks in, and yells something to me.

Totally ruined my session! :upset: I'm uploading the three minutes I have. It's awesome, at the end, you can hear her say something, and me say CRAP like a girl.

Booyah! I just got a job as a tour guide for Japanese people who wish to learn English.

I basically speak to them in slow, clear English, whilst I go with them to various tourist destinations, all of them beautiful and unique to the Far North. :D

Aaaaand, it's all expenses paid, so I get travel and lunch paid for, plus it is $18/hour. So, let's recap:

Job Description: Talking to people in English
Locations: Beautiful tourist destinations
Payrate: AU$18/hour (GBPounds:7.76/hour or US$13.55/hour)

:D:D:D
---------------------
As an addition to Cain's Musicology thread, listen to the Heavy Metal influences in these songs off of the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack.

Work sucked some major bum hole this morning. First my mom bitched at me because I asked for 30 cents so I would have enough for a cup of coffee. Then I lost a load of plywood off the back of my truck and I had to track it down, then some fuck head of a German guy came in and asked me to cut some plywood for him, I did that then he freaked out because I didn't cut it in 10 ft lengths, instead of the usual 4 ft lengths but he took it anyway. Then I went to lunch and listened to Tool, then it was all better.
