my dad left at 5:30 am this morning and its now 2:40 and he still isn't back. i think he had a date somewhere, and either it went really well or hes dead in some ditch.

Morumbar 05-24-2009 05:21 AM

I bought The Hobbit yesterday. I'm not finished reading The Lord Of The Rings yet, but I look forward to reading it.

Nostalgia 05-24-2009 05:23 AM

You probably should've started with the hobbit tbh. I really think it's the best book out of all of them.

rasputin 05-24-2009 06:32 AM

it's the easiest to read for sure

Dimmu Burger 05-24-2009 07:28 AM

I started The Hobbit on a few occasions but couldn't get far into it. I love that sort of thing though. Fantasy etc.

ExquisiteGhost 05-24-2009 07:34 AM

maybe the problem is you're listening to metal

Dimmu Burger 05-24-2009 07:36 AM

That must be it.

Started with the hobbit and I think its the best out of all of them.

Ventriloquist 05-24-2009 08:05 AM

I read the book and the graphic novel of Hobbit. Graphic Novel was so good.

Silmarllion is #1 in my book

Xplisit 05-24-2009 08:21 AM

Contemporary reviews of The Silmarillion were rather negative. The Silmarillion was criticized for being too serious, lacking the light-hearted moments that were found in The Lord of the Rings and especially The Hobbit. TIME complained that there was "no single, unifying quest and, above all, no band of brothers for the reader to identify with".

=(

christsimpson 05-24-2009 08:24 AM

The Hobbit is great. The Silmarillion is an interesting read. but The Lord of the Rings pretty much pwns everything else that has ever been put into writing.

Hahaha, which one are you leaning towards more?

what ridiculous criticism.

I haven't finished LotR yet, but I'm pretty sure that even after I finish reading it, I'll still rather The Silmarillion.

the2stranger 05-24-2009 09:11 AM

I've read The Hobbit and LOTR.
Good reads.
I never explored fantasy literature beyond Tolkien though.
But I am thinking about startin with Discworld.
Any fans?

McP3000 05-24-2009 09:12 AM
