Robbie was great though.
Bringing It All Back Home is my favorite Bob Dylan album. Blood On the Tracks is probably were you should start though.

ditto, maggies farm is also ace.

Woodstock 12-17-2004 02:03 PM

I have Highway 61 Revisited, but I'm leaning towards Blonde On Blonde.

tallica_drummer 12-17-2004 03:05 PM

yes classic rock is much better than todays "nu rock" as it is called, most of these new bands r mixers etc.
there r like 7 guitarists playing a string each....cant even make a decent solo up....

Kreator2112 12-17-2004 03:32 PM

just because good music isnt mainstream, doesnt mean it isnt out there

deathaholic 12-17-2004 03:33 PM
ok ok, i admit it, i'm a classic rock nut. i love led zeppelin, the beatles, the who, eric clapton, the doors, and so on. most of the bands i listen to broke up years before i was born. at 17, nearly every song on my playlist is older than me. but is it just my imagination, or is classic rock experiencing sort of a revival. i am running into an increasing number of classic rock fans my age. at my school (an all boys high school), the school newspaper took a poll of everyone's favorite genre and band. led zeppeling got 5th and the beatles got 6th, behind that rap crap. classic rock made up a large percent of ppls favorite genre. is this just by me, or are other ppl noticing this too?

This is now a Classic Rock Discussion thread!
You know what? I totally agree with you man. Zeppelin, Beatles, Doors, And Rush are all amazing bands that influenced today's music. Did you notice that most of today's "rock" bands sound similar to the good old bands(or at least try to) I got Rush's album The Spirit Of Radio. It is The Greatest hits Album and it amazing listening. Anyone like Rush?

Indeed, but as for rock and roll, the scene is pretty weak. Blues, jam, metal and other genres are doing well, but hard rock bands really aren't.

Rush is awesome. Hehe, you call it ""rock"" too. Because today's rock music is bland un influenced rock and nothing close to as good as the blues and folk influenced rock of the 60s and 70s. Or even the hard rock sound of the 80s. It's just bland 3 chord music.

RockAndRoll 12-17-2004 04:54 PM

I wish I were born in 1948.

Nothing wrong with three chord music. Look at the Beatles, you could have one chord like Tomorrow Never Knows and it could still be a good song.

B0nz0 12-17-2004 05:10 PM

I HAVE RETURNED. and my little thread is still alive. very proud of all of you for keeping it alive. And onto three chord rock, there's nothing wrong with it, as long as it's good, which most of todays isn't. anyways what are your thoughts on Emerson, Lake, and Palmer?

Woodstock 12-17-2004 05:11 PM

Welcome back, you need to post more often ;)

I love Trilogy, and I have been looking for Tarkus. How is it?

Distant Echoes 12-17-2004 05:31 PM

Your thread, B0nzo, is just about the only reason i come online anymore.

You have given me a meaning to life!

Whats best about three chord rock isnt only it sounds great, buts easy to play and cover most importantly. Seriously, you could learn 20 3-chord songs in a day. Now thats forgiving to musicians like me

I thought you died.

P.S has anyone ever seen Linda McCratney's "sixties".

RockAndRoll 12-17-2004 05:44 PM

Oh and I wouldn't call this thread little bonzo.

thickasabrick 12-17-2004 05:48 PM

nothing wrong with three chord rock. it worked with the beatles for the first half of the sixties. never stopped working for the stones and ac/dc.

as long as you think of creative ways to use those three chords.

i am a huge fan of ELP. their album Trilogy is my favourite. Man those keys are simply amazing, definitely not far behind hendrix experience and cream for best trio. my favourite song is The Endless Enigma, but i can't stand listening to it broken up into parts, i like it all in one.

You're only listening to the mainstream.

And on another note, every time I listen to Quadrophenia, I like it more and more. How does everyone else feel about it?

From the Beginning is clearly the strongest song on the album.

Badmoon 12-17-2004 05:54 PM

Well, he most likely meant mainstream, being that he is a fan of Widespread Panic and other various Roots Rock/Jam Bands.

Emerson, Lake and Palmer. One of the best prog. bands.

Woodstock 12-17-2004 05:58 PM

If anyone wants a sample of ELP, contact me on AIM.

Creedence Clearwater 12-17-2004 06:02 PM

Yeah, I will have to stick up for the three shord song. One of my fav Dylan songs Oxford Town only has two with a third variation.
