No he doesn't, do you mean Shavo Odadjian? If you do then that is only because they have got one of those beards and a bald head.

magicbus 07-18-2005 03:36 PM
these avatar changes are rather annoying. Am I the only one who identifies posters from their avatars?

EDIT

M&R has been too quiet today, hasnt it?
I used to do that too, but now if I see a new avatar I make sure I know who it belongs too. You and King of Dudes have very similar avatars. I thought that was you posting a lot.

Hows it going? We need to get the Cradle of Filth thread back up. :thumb:

I only really did that when I was a nub

We should really have a QOTSA thread. I would make it but I don't feel right making a thread in R&M which didn't take me a long time to make and I can't be bothered right now.

Lord Abortion 07-18-2005 03:56 PM
Hows it going? We need to get the Cradle of Filth thread back up. :thumb:
if you can find something to put in it then hell, yes

also Jake, I would make a thread but I need to spend some time on it and because of my connection buggering up every 5 minutes, it makes uploading songs a little difficult

Six Foot Revolver 07-18-2005 03:57 PM

I will make the thread anyway :)

haha, I know what you mean. The baphomet avatars caused me the same problem!

Glad I'm not alone. This is the reason I dont change my avatar otherwise who knows, people might forget me :upset:

Just wondering, is anyone else mad that Cliff Burton won best bassist?

Stoic 07-18-2005 04:02 PM

with the amount of fanboys in here I didnt expect anyone else to win but this is getting ridiculus. New rules must be set for voting.

Cain 07-18-2005 04:02 PM
Just wondering, is anyone else mad that Cliff Burton won best bassist?
I'm pissed. Every single contest gets raped by these ignorant Metallica fanboys that make dummy accounts just so theirs will win. It's completely retarded.

Drugstep 07-18-2005 04:03 PM

I never even went into the Bassists poll, but I do find it rediculous that he won mainly because fanboys with no lives were cheating the polls.

I love Metallica, but I don't even like Cliff.

munky_magik 07-18-2005 04:04 PM

It's not always Metallia fanboys.

THANKS A TON RIVA. I love you forever. :D

ATM 07-18-2005 04:05 PM

I voted for Geezer :)

I'm uploading my absolute favorite jazz album, you guys have to check it out.

Stoic 07-18-2005 04:05 PM
It's not always Metallia fanboys.
who else?

Drugstep 07-18-2005 04:08 PM

I didn't get around to voting, but I definately would have went Geezer.

One solution could be to make brand new accounts unable to participate in polls, for a short period of time, but I don't think that would solve anything. They could pre-sign up.

munky_magik 07-18-2005 04:10 PM
who else?
Tool fanboys invalidated the results from the greatest album competition. I'm sure there are a few guilty parties elsewhere as well.

It's not specific fanboys that are the problem, just fanboys in general.
One solution could be to make brand new accounts unable to participate in polls, for a short period of time, but I don't think that would solve anything. They could pre-sign up.
That would involve an admin re-setting the rights for all new users which is, I think, taking it too far.
Anyway, that's not exactly fair on the people who would vote wisely.
another suggestion I saw is that only people who have started a (legal) thread can vote.
That would be almost impossible tio implement, and again unfair on people that just haven't started any threads.

Stoic 07-18-2005 04:11 PM
That would involve an admin re-setting the rights for all new users which is, I think, taking it too far.
True. But still mods can remove the votes of supicious users

Six Foot Revolver 07-18-2005 04:14 PM
who else?
Tool fanboys ruined the album competition

ATM 07-18-2005 04:14 PM

What if they had to have a certain amount of posts?

Drugstep 07-18-2005 04:16 PM
That would involve an admin re-setting the rights for all new users which is, I think, taking it too far.
Yeah, that would take too much work.

And on top, dicks could still abuse it. If, even though the admin reset the thing, people were still doing it though, that's goddamned immature.
Anyway, that's not exactly fair on the people who would vote wisely
Same basic concept as not allowing brand new accounts to make threads.

munky_magik 07-18-2005 04:17 PM
True. But still mods can remove the votes of supicious users
And how do you decide who's suspicious?
And how much time do you think a mod would actually want to waste on that?
What if they had to have a certain amount of posts?
Again; Difficult to implement and unfair on people who just haven't posted much.
Even then people would spam there way to the limit easily.
Same basic concept as not allowing brand new accounts to make threads.
That's to limit the amount of people that join up to create spam thread which is, I feel, a slightly more important matter than having to wait to vote because a few fanboys upset a poll result.
Just look at the votes cast!
how many of those voters have ever posted here?
steve harris should have walked that poll easily.
You get lurkers who sign up because they want to help out their favourite bassist/whatever.
You get actually new people.
You get people who never post.

And Myung > Harris.

Six Foot Revolver 07-18-2005 04:18 PM
True. But still mods can remove the votes of supicious users
Bartender told me a bit ago that deleting votes completely messes up all the votes though

Wouldn't it be just great if people's mothers taught them to play fairly so we wouldn't even have to worry?

People can easily change their IP. Even then t's still an awful lot of trouble for a mod to go to, checking every single IP address.

magicbus 07-18-2005 04:24 PM
I googled "slug" and I just liked this picture.
Interesting! It looked like a turtle or something.

I googled Gagging Order and got a picture that said "Gagging For A Fag." Some would say that would suit me very well as an avatar.

Six Foot Revolver 07-18-2005 04:28 PM

When googling Six Foot Revolver I get the cover for Six Foot Revolver

Lord Abortion 07-18-2005 04:29 PM
Explain why he should have walked it
because as a bassist he has influenced most people in the field of metal bass.

Jason Newstead said in an interview "I sat in the garage and listened to the killers record with my bass over and over again until I got every note"-metal hammer aug '03 issue.

He plays all those galloping basslines without a pick, and is the driving force behind maiden's sound, and the head of the band, without him there would be no maiden, and without maiden there would be no power metal, not thrash metal, therefore no death or black metal...

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-18-2005 04:30 PM

@ Chris' new avatar-One of those Stonefish? The ones that have a mouth that sort of un-hinges and they just swallow whole fish. That would make your user title make sense. :p

Yorkshire Jake- Google came up with a bunch of dildos when I googled it. :-/

Drugstep 07-18-2005 04:31 PM

I googled SLug and got a whole bunch of slugs, a lady in a thong, and this: http://www.slug.org.au/albums/peopleofslug/aae.jpg

That guy should never get laid. Ever.
