The Dismemberment Plan - Emergency & I
Les Savy Fav - Inches Against Me! - Crime Against Me! - The Disco Before The Breakdown Against Me! - Acoustic |
Beach vacation this past week. I dug:
The New Pornographers - Mass Romantic Islands - Return to the Sea The Unicorns - Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone? The Velvet Underground - Loaded T. Rex - Electric Warrior Asobi Seksu - Citrus Roxy Music - Country Life And a little bit of the Led Zeppelin DVD on the car ride home. |
Comets on Fire - Avatar (I've made my mind up, this is easily their best)
I concur, man. I kinda miss the messiness of the older stuff, but overall, easily their best. For my most recent diggage today: The Coral - s/t I dunno, I don't like it nearly as much as Invisible Invasion... but I'll have to spend some more time with it. |
Gnarls Barkley - St. Elsewhere
The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow Bruce Springsteen - The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle Sonic Youth - Goo Beastie Boys - Licensed to Ill Goo is awesome. |
Glad to see someone isn't done with St. Elsewhere yet. I haven't heard it in weeks now.
|
It seems to have pretty decent staying power. To me, at least.
Yeah, you do.
On second listen, I think you're right. |

The only track I really enjoyed on the album was "Crazy", and that got old after only a couple of listens. I did only listen to the album in its entirety once, though, so maybe I need to listen to it a couple more times. |
i just bought:
Jefferson Airplane- "After Bathing at Baxter's" very cool CD. |

There are some really good songs in there, but the rest are just undeveloped and annoying novelty tunes.

That^ and Autechre - Untilted |
Opinion? Is it not pure grungey gold?
It's pretty cool. Title track has been a favorite for a while, so I was kinda expecting to be underwhelmed, but there's a lot of fun stuff here on first listen. Been wanting it for a while. |
Ended my evening with:

They're quite like Queens Of The Stone Age, Black Sabbath, stuff like that. Stonerish. Fun. Rob Crow is the singer, he's in numerous indie rock bands (Pinback, Thingy, Heavy Vegetable, etc.) An actual goblin with an actual ****. |

V/A - Children of Nuggets Box Set
I thought nothing could ever live up to the original Nuggets box set, but this sure comes close. Some amazing stuff by bands like the Lyres and Dream Syndicate. |
those TMV tracks that leaked.
the album is going to be so good. |
Half-Handed Cloud
Johnny Cash Clutch Genghis Tron Kayo Dot Calexico (might see them in a couple days, yay) |
I'm in Melbourne and have bought a lot of cds:
Joy Division - Closer The Cure - Boys Don't Cry Radiohead - Amnesiac Queen - A Night at the Opera Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde Six Organs of Admittance - School of the Flower Calexico - Feast of Wire I'm trying to decide what else to buy. There's a lot of good record stores down here. |
Butthole Surfers
It's amazing that the same band can make songs as poppy and brilliantly catchy as Ah Ha, Pepper or TV Star and make songs as abrasive and brilliantly disjointed as 22 Going on 23, Graveyard or The Shah Sleeps in Lee Harvey's Grave. |
