Very wierd. Now Jones is using a chorus pedal and Justin is using a flanger? That seems backwards from previous years, heh. Where exactly did you find these pictures?
Well just think, who would have access to taking pics like that? Now ask yourself why the blacked out areas and then maybe just maybe you'll think.. and why do you assume I got them somewhere on the internet? tool DOES appreciate fans.

Mr Herb 11-24-2005 10:47 AM

Erm what does a chorus pedal exactly do?

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-24-2005 12:37 PM

pig- Where are you from, exactly? You're a lucky bastard. :p

Herb- Listen to the bass intro of 46&2. I'm not sure how to describe it, but just listen carefully, and that's what it does. More guitarists use chorus than bass players, but that ought to give you an idea of what a chorus pedal sounds like. It just creates a different sound. It's often used in a clean setting, but it can also be used wonderfully with distortion.

I learned what a chorus pedal is by trying it out. Just look online, and they have demos of pedals, and what not. One time I was at the music store, just playing around w/ the pedals for like a half hour, and then I had to go. I want to get some effect pedals so bad, but I have no money. :upset:

Dude3 11-24-2005 05:24 PM

Just dropping in to say 'HEY'. Any new Tool news?

I used to be a regular in here, but I have been on MX a lot less recently.

Which, is a good thing, because I now have a life.

But still.......

Moses 11-24-2005 05:32 PM

I have almost abandoned this thread because of the lack of news. I just decided to forget about the new album and listen to Dredg, Nevermore, Extol, Dillinger Escape Plan, Dark Tranquility, Porcupine Tree, and Mastodon.

From what I remember, Extol wasn't anything special, but that was a while ago. Name off songs to change my mind, this instant!

Moses 11-24-2005 05:56 PM

Ember, Undecieved. I'll send you some if you'd like. They go from tech to melo to emo to power. They're also Christian but you really can't tell.

Please do: doom___cannon@hotmail.com

I knew they were Christian, but only because a friend told me (which is where I first heard them). I'd've otherwise never known, much like everyone else.

Killtacular 11-24-2005 07:43 PM

Someone give me the video where Maynard chokes the fan trying to hug him during Pushit.

Now, please.

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-24-2005 07:47 PM

Moses, if you end up sending those Extol songs to him you might as well send them to me as well.

spiralout7@gmail.com if you get around to it. Thanks in advance. :)

Oh, and nice overall list of bands you've substituted to take place of Tool.

I've ditched Tool for Converge and Pig Destroyer.

NP-Converge-Thaw (the really cool "emo" sounding part at the end)

Thanks for those Extol files, I'm milling away at them at the moment.

I'd also be very interested in that Classical Mailing List.

Boss rocks !
but y doesnt any artist use boss mt2, everybody seems to be choosing that pedal for distortion, probably overatted or just too popular

Where am I from? Well I live directly under the sun.. pretty much.

Extol has some great instrumentation, but those vocals...
Uggggh, horrible. It's the most grating, abrasive form of death metal vocals I've ever heard, which I remember now is why I didn't like them.

So, in closing, great instrumentation, horrible, horrible, terrible vocals.

Moses 11-25-2005 09:06 PM

I think the clean vocals are ace, especially on Gloriana. The dirty vocals are, well, dirty. Do you just not like growling?

Ah, that would explain your association with Tool. You're sure are one lucky bastard. :upset: How many times have you gone to see them in the recording studio?

Moses 11-25-2005 09:38 PM

What'd you think of those Extol songs, Jake?

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-25-2005 09:59 PM

I'm downloading an Ulver album right now(and last night, dinosaurnet++) but I'll check them out once I'm done with this.

Moses 11-25-2005 10:54 PM

Oh hell yess, I just said koolies.

After this, I've decided that you don't have a soul. ;)

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-27-2005 01:21 PM

So right now, I'm downloading a 6 track Tool bootleg from Soulseek. The songs are Stinkfist, 46 & 2, The Grudge, Prison Sex, Push it, and Schism. I've only listened to Stinkfist so far, and it's quite awesome. Of course, it's typical bootleg quality, but it's very cool to hear the different version of Stinkfist. Adam does some awesome improv-style stuff to spice up the main riff. The second verse, Maynard sings different lyrics(I beleive they're from an Elvis song), and the added segment after Adam's "solo" is great. :p

EDIT: It's "Live in San Diego," in case anyone was curious.

NP: Tool - No Quarter
