Why are they so hard to change strings on?
The bridge is kept level and the guitar in tuen by the tension of the other strings. Once you take a string off, the tension it was putting on the bridge is released and so it compensates thus messing up your tuning.
Why are they so hard to change strings on?
Well it isn't that bad, being mainly a drummer i'm just lazy when it comes to guitar stuff :) You just have to get the strings through the tremolo and take off the locking nut to get them under. You often have to reset your intonation as well. I have seen some newer design that look much better and easier to work with than the ones from even a few years ago.
So far only one person has commented on my status. I think most of the idiot n00bs don't understand it's significance. I know they'd all blow up if they knew what it was.

I understand your status. And otherwise, I would blow up, but since I realize you're only doing it to see how much controversy you can stir up in the first place, I won't indulge you.

EDIT: Other than to say you're a terrible terrible person.
Why are they so hard to change strings on?
As I said, floating bars or locking bars are both very sensitive, and they require the tension of ALL the strings tuned to pitch in order to stay level. Break a string, and the bridge tilts back because a lot of tension was released by that string. This causes the five remaining strings to be pulled back tighter by the bridge, raising the pitch, and thus messing up your tuning. Which is why I said never break a string in concert if you don't have a guitar tech handy.
Good idea, remember that some kinds are alot easier to work with than others.
yea, and some are just generally better.

Original Floyd Rose > licensed Floyd Rose. I'm not sure where the Pro Edge II or anything else fits into this equation though.

Hey dudes. School's over. Listening to Aenema.

Arucard 01-31-2005 02:20 PM

AHHH!

Has anyone else noticed that alot of Death Metal drumming is very uneven. I was listening to Arsis and In Flames today, and they dont seem to be able to hit their crashes in the same place each time.

Arucard 01-31-2005 02:23 PM

on Channel 5 8pm: Chris Barrie's Massive Engine, the comedy actor explores the development of diggers.
Channel 5 8:30pm: Chris Barrie's Massive Engines, he explores the development of airships in the 20th century.

What a strange place for him to appear.

Eitri Is Berserk 01-31-2005 02:40 PM

Afternoon all. How are you?

Eitri Is Berserk 01-31-2005 02:44 PM

I'm pretty good. Two hour delay today. We havn't had a full week of school in ages, all kinds of delays and snowdays. Pretty cool.

jpj 01-31-2005 02:44 PM

This week could be my first full week of school since the week after Thanksgiving.

I think it's new. It hasn't been on terrestrial TV before, I don't know about Sky/Cable.

Bartender 01-31-2005 02:47 PM

Well if I could be bothered to watch it, I would. I can't though. Too tired (trying to get to sleep again last night didn't go too well).

Arucard 01-31-2005 02:55 PM

Im just annoyed that a magazine that can say 'Life Is Loud' put such crap bands on their covers.

Bartender 01-31-2005 03:09 PM

Oh. Thought you meant complaining about something specific.

Not just that reason, I find WWII history interesting as do most nerds.

Superpeer: You could change it? Just delete it all. Thanks

Arucard 01-31-2005 03:13 PM

Nope, just about their total hypocrisy, and lack of real musical knowledge.

Not being able to sleep sucks. Especially when there isn't anything to keep you entertained.

Joe: just in case you didn't know, Angra are supporting Dragonforce on the 21st of Feb.
