Yeah but didn't they stop playing it because Bruce couldn't reach the highs back before he left Maiden?
yeh, i think so. he doesn't hit the highs in that video, but it still sounds good. |
iron maiden are so ridiculously great. "phantom of the opera" is their best song in my opinion.
I agree, except for Hallowed Be Thy Name. We cover Phantom in our band, great fun to play and a real crowd pleaser. |
Anybody mind sending me Phantom of the Opera? I'm curious to how it sounds like.
twinky_123@hotmail.com thanks to whoever bothers to do it. |

No worries mate. I'll Yousendit, watch this space..... http://s64.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1QSRFM7ALR77F3SKFX0AFXWD5C This is the studio version, I actually think the live version is much better though. So if you like this and want the live version, just ask me for it. |
so how do you know the Golden Years tour setlist already?
Im just guessing considering its more popular then moonchild or caught somewhere in time. |
no point in getting hopes up for it tho it may be popular doesnt mean the band will wanna do it
|
i thought Steve didn't like playing it any more
meh, i'd love it if they opened with Caught Somewhere In Time, they have to do that on the tour anyway as it's an album title track. Rime... would be great, but they probably wouldn't do that. 2MTM would probably be on, and hopefully Powerslave... |
They'll play two minutes, I would be sure of that.
|
/hopes for Alexander The Great
|
Alexander, Powerslave and Infinite Dreams would be the one track I want from the three albums.
|
Probably Rime, Sea of madness and infinite dreams
|
RotAM, AtG, Moonchild
|
Heaven Can Wait would be awesome, the bit after "take my hand, i'll lead you to the promised land" (the whoa-oa-oa) bit would be a good crowd interaction bit.

Yeah, that would be great. I'd kill to hear them do Powerslave, though. How albums fall under the "golden years" catagory, anyways? |

There is a tab out there somewhere for the RiR solo, i remember learning it back in the day. I'll have a look about:)
EDIT: Many apologies but i can't find it, it's not too different from the original if i remember rightly, so you could try the tab Josh posted:) |
That tab is only about 90% right for the solo.
I have PT somewhere that's pretty accurate, I'll just make a few changes to it to make it the RiR version. Adrian generally keeps his solos the same in the studio and live, though. |
Maiden changed my life. before them, i use to listen to rap )=. i realized rap has no talent so i dropped that **** and threw up the HORNS!!!! \m/
|
I've gone a wierd way.
I used to listen to pop (was a huge Spice Girls fan in the day)...then I discovered Blink 182. First heard Iron Maiden when I was 13. Too young to really understand the lyrics, or appreciate the music. Got into punk. Heard Iron Maiden again when Dance Of Death came out. I was 16 now, and had been playing guitar for a few years. Adrian became my guitar idol. I still listen to (and appreciate) bands like Blink 182, Greenday and punk. From Iron Maiden, I became more intersted in Western Art (i.e. classical music) and from there folk. Folk music led my back into liking pop, so I can enjoy lots of pop songs, so long as its not R&B. Rap is another thing, though. I'm not normally a fan, but some of it is amazingly good. I love Eminem, and I love the streets, just because they're being so autobiographical. Eminem does some amazing videos too. In the end, I'm now someone who knows and appreciates a bit of all kinds of music, which is good. I feel I don't limit myself. My favourite bands of all time are still, however: 1. Iron Maiden 2. Greenday 3. Eminem. |
Since we're all talking about how we got into Maiden...
Simply put...I always have, been listening to 'em since I was in the womb, nearly 20 years ago. Christ, I'm old. |
I randomly bought Edward The Great for 5 pounds when I was in England. Greatest money I've ever spent.

oh yes very good album! i cant believe they didnt put hallowed be thy name on there though. thats for sure a great of Maidens |
Meh, while we were waiting at an airport my older brother showed me the oppening riff of the trooper. I thought it was so nuts that i downloaded the whole song and then told one of my friends about it. HE then downlaoded the wicker man and showed me and of course i thought it was awesome. Since then ive bought everythign.
Funny how my brother only liked the oppening riff to the trooper. He actually kind of hates maiden but just likes the riff. =/ |
