If you saw Dream Theater live you'd notice the atmosphere they create goes well with Tool's.

Darkness 08-18-2005 10:18 PM

Your right, they probably wouldn't... though they are both awesome in their own ways.

Opeth + Tool = perfect IMO. Something about their music clicks...

Quite an insinuation; however, you're dead wrong and I can speak from experience.

Have you seen Tool?

Darkness of Greed, and everyone interersted in an amazing song/decent read, go there. :)

I think if I had to pick just 2, I'd go for Tool and Porcupine Tree. I'd love to hear and see Gavin Harris play with Danny Carey during Triad.

Moses 08-18-2005 10:22 PM

I haven't seen Tool but I have seen Dream Theater and though it does get wanky, it's usually during the solo's. Most of the music has somthing similar about it and I could see them on the same tour together.

Darkness 08-18-2005 10:22 PM

What about Martin Lopez playing with Danny Carey? :D

+zero+ 08-18-2005 11:28 PM

i want to hear porcupine tree, since there coming on tour near my hometown. maybe ill check them out if i like them.

Huber 08-18-2005 11:37 PM

I'm so angry I missed Meshuggah and Tool. Who is Meshuggah going with this year? I think it was already announced.

I agree with the Tool/DT thing. I believe they would make great tour mates. Maybe one band shows off a lot, and the other doesn't, but that doesn't change the fact they both lose close to no quality on their sound live, have a similar fan base (for the most part) and both are atmospheric. However, there atmospheres are different I think. It'd still be a good show.

Opeth though, would probably be better.

BlindWriting 08-18-2005 11:37 PM

I would eat many babies in return for a Tool, Meshuggah, Opeth, and Porcupine Tree tour.

I'd then go on to eat more in exchange for tickets.

+zero+ 08-18-2005 11:42 PM

I havent really heard any Opeth or Dream Theater either..(ashamed). but i have heard Meshuggah!

I know this is a Tool thread...but I have to do my job as an Opeth fanboy and tell you to go buy one of their albums as soon as you can put together about $18.

BlindWriting 08-19-2005 12:03 AM

Allow me to whore my Summerstage review thread. It's in alt./indie, but never fear.

Russel Allen is an amazing vocalist. He can pull of those 3 part harmonies like no other, fool!

Plus, if you're going to judge the band solely on their vocalist(who is actually one of the most naturally and immensely talented metal vocalists) you might as well listen to Beyonce or something.

kurrpt- wtf is up with your postcount? Yesterday it was at like 7,000, now it's down to 6k. Do you post in the 'lod a lot, or why does it change so much?

ummm....ok

your argument is "i dont like symphony X cause i cant stand the singer" meaning you think the singer brings the rest of the band down.

i think the singer of CoB is a WORSE singer than the singer for symphony X, but the rest of the band is so good, the terrible vocals become insignificant to the whole :thumb:

No I said I like them aside from the vocals and sometimes the vocals ruin it for me.

Probably, but I was hinting that Tool + Opeth > then anything.
Probably, but I was hinting that Tool + Opeth > then anything.
well, thats kewl i guess, but theres a lot more out there. I used to be like this. Since ive started playing guitar seriously, it has opened my eyes to a lot more.

Darkness 08-19-2005 10:00 AM

Oh I'm sure theres a crap load of bands better then Opeth. But Opeths music is just so... perfect... thus making them a great tour buddy with Tool.
