Glitterati 06-20-2009 05:46 PM

nye-o-beeum how was your birthday

niobium 06-20-2009 05:50 PM
http://www.newraleigh.com/media/audio/polvo-beggarsbowl.mp3

Don't know what to think. Its catchy but more akin to Minus the Bear than the Polvo I know and love. Possible grower.
wow, i wasnt expecting them to sound that different. usually reunited bands would pick up right where they left off (dino jr). if it wasnt for the whammy bar abuse i wouldn't have even known it was polvo

samarahah 06-20-2009 07:19 PM

you know that link just does not work for me

but thats okay i found it somewhere else.

niobium 06-20-2009 07:32 PM

http://www.newraleigh.com/articles/archive/new-polvo-track-released/

i had it on about 7-8 times through. haven't done that with a track in a long while. it really has some muscle to it considering the way they went out a decade ago. production sounds a little maxed out but i'm assuming it will sound different on the album

samarahah 06-20-2009 07:35 PM

its okay knee-nob-bee-bum i have it now.

niobium 06-20-2009 07:36 PM

it was offending me how much it didn't work

samarahah 06-20-2009 07:44 PM

well i'll be interested in seeing how they integrate themselves into this new sound. its not bad just, uh, im not sure yet.

Music classes are cool. Part of my assignment for today is to read Steve Albini's essay "The Problem With Music" and make some kind of forum discussion post about it. It's a shame all my classes can't be like this.

your teacher told you to read that essay or you just picked it out?

Liebensaft 06-21-2009 12:28 PM

No, it's part of the assignment. I have to read that and this essay by a guy, Thompson, I think, and contrast their viewpoints on music production. And we're supposed to talk about the future in terms of recording and marketing.

I cited that essay as a source in a paper I wrote on indie music. It was in a course on the postmodern condition.

My professor was actually in a band that opened for Public Image Ltd. and The Clash, apparently. She now owns a couple antique shops in the town I went to college in.

YDload 06-21-2009 01:51 PM

i used "our band could be your life" in a paper i wrote once

Glitterati 06-21-2009 02:12 PM

Careful, you might get sued by Mike Watt/Michael Azzerad.

YDload 06-21-2009 04:29 PM

you cant get sued by someone for citing their book in a research paper...

YourBiggestFan 06-21-2009 04:38 PM

Jacaranda 06-21-2009 08:50 PM

weird, i was linked to it from last.fm too. it was from a group called 'people who go to shows alone' though.

Happymeal 06-23-2009 07:01 PM

Kind of late - nxne was super great even though I only went two days. I went to Health instead of Juan Maclean which was overall a good decision, but I still wish there was two of me so I didn't have to miss all these bands.

Wanker 06-23-2009 07:20 PM

I just killed no fewer than ten spiders on the ceiling of my bedroom. One of them got away though :/

Glitterati 06-23-2009 07:27 PM

I swatted a fly out of the air a few days ago. I felt like Barack Obama.

Good reflexes.

Difficulty level for bug killing goes from easiest to hardest:

slug-> ant-> mosquito-> spider-> house fly-> centipede-> horse fly-> deer fly

Glitterati 06-23-2009 07:39 PM

I don't know what a deer fly is but I don't think I want to find out :(

Happymeal 06-23-2009 08:02 PM

I've never seen a deer fly myself but they look nasty. Ever had a cockroach crawl up your face while you were sleeping?

Wanker 06-23-2009 11:00 PM

Blahhhh. I'm getting the chills just thinking about that...

A deer fly is basically a horsefly, only smaller and faster.

I used to run with my buddy every morning at camp. Horse flies and deer flies would hitch a ride on our backs & heads--we each got an extra workout trying to kill said bugs on each other while running.

By the way, I was on my computer a couple hours ago and saw another spider crawling on my shirt. The little bastards just don't know when to quit.

You should move. Or, you know, not let so many insects/arachnids into your dwelling.

Wanker 06-24-2009 12:23 PM

I guess I could cover my house in saran wrap.

McP3000 06-24-2009 12:47 PM
http://marscosby.ytmnd.com/
where did you find that

Time 06-24-2009 04:37 PM

holy shiiiit a few amazing concerts got announced and if everything goes according to plan, I will be seeing in the next 4 months: Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, Dinosaur Jr., Sunny Day Real Estate, and Jesus Lizard

YDload 06-24-2009 05:38 PM

DC is a kewl place for shows but they sell out fast. hope you got your tickets already!

Time 06-24-2009 05:41 PM

Sonic Youth's the only one that's already sold out but I found cheap tickets on craigslist, and I think I could afford to miss them because they'll be out and touring for years to come (hopefully)

ATM 06-24-2009 06:59 PM

I am going to Jesus Lizard no matter what. Are you going to Harvey Milk?

Time 06-24-2009 07:38 PM

thinking about it, it's the night before MBV so if i can get to that then i won't go, but something tells me i won't make the trip to Richmond

okay 06-25-2009 01:30 AM

should i go see Son Volt

niobium 06-25-2009 06:01 AM

i'm thinking about how i live in a pissdunk area for culture. i want to change that.

wang masta flex 06-25-2009 07:54 AM

i have tickets for sonic youth in DC on july 7th. cant ****n wait

Glitterati 06-25-2009 12:45 PM

I almost got a ticket for Girl Talk on Sep. 30th yesterday but they were sold out, so I got a ticket for Rock The Bells on August 1st. My friend got a ticket for GT at the last second so I may have to steal his ticket/skin.
