Ehhhhh....I think they're overrated. I like the crazy distortion that they sometimes use, but I just can't get into them all hardcore like.

I guess I'm more of an Aquabats type of guy.

Watched American History X tonight. Excellent film.

NINJA EDIT - Happy birthday Daniel!
I've been meaning to see that for ages but I'm waiting for a time when I can watch it with my friend. That and American Beauty.

I watched The Man Who Wasn't There. Highly reccomended for fans of film-noir and modern noir. Also, it's a Coen brothers film, so if you like them you should seriously see it. Finally, it has Scarlett in it, so there's really no excuse for not seeing it.

PS EightMiles, check out All The Real Girls so you can oogle Zooey some more :)

Radiobass81 12-18-2005 07:43 AM

I didn't really like American History X. It made an impact because of the theme, and it was pretty intense, but I just didn't like it.

Yeah, this is a greatly overlooked movie. It's overshadowed by The Big Lebowski and Fargo. With good reason, those movies are excellent, but this one is top notch as well.

I watched Capturing the Friedmans yesterday and it was very compelling. It's about family being torn apart through police accusations towards the Father and the youngest son. They were both accused of Sexual abuse/sodomy towards young boys. What made the movie so gripping was how unsure I felt about the characters innocence, throughout. So many conflicting stories made it very difficult to be decisive on what I even thought about Arnold Friedman and Jesse.

I rented Amelie yesterday. I haven't watched it yet, but Yann Tiersen did alot of the soundtrack, so I am expecting good things.

JonM 12-18-2005 12:14 PM

You can find me in the A.

Zmev 12-18-2005 01:45 PM

I downloaded Magnolia thanks to bread
I downloaded Magnolia thanks to bread
Aaaah... Magnolia is probably my favorite film. Paul Thomas Anderson has that special something that no one else has today.

Zmev 12-18-2005 02:09 PM

I'll watch it after the Virgin Suicides, thanks to heavy rain I'm not going anywhere.

Radiobass81 12-18-2005 02:15 PM

After watching "Lost in Translation", I've been wanting to see that and other Coppola films. Haven't had the chance to, though.

Zmev 12-18-2005 02:18 PM

I have Lost in Translation, but I haven't seen it yet.

This is true for too many movies that I have.

DaveIsWrong 12-18-2005 03:01 PM

Does anybody else have these weird phases where they just go and listen to tons of numetal? Or is it just me? For some reason I keep going back to Drowning Pool, Ill Nino, and Unloco and stuff like that, with some Death Cab, Interpol, Keren Ann, and Devendra Banhart weaved in....

AM I UNNORMAL!?

BillCosby 12-18-2005 03:04 PM

Yes, see a doctor.

DaveIsWrong 12-18-2005 03:06 PM

That means I'd have to put on pants...and that's not happening any time soon.

Zmev 12-18-2005 03:24 PM

Deftones are nu metal and they're great.

Electrocution 12-18-2005 03:25 PM
What's that totally cool song in the Axe commercial? The one with the asian guy with the motorcycle and the chick on his back.
this

Wanker 12-18-2005 03:26 PM
Deftones are nu metal and they're great.
Truth. One of the only good nu metal bands.

Glitterati 12-18-2005 03:55 PM

Faith No More were the godfathers of nu-metal. And they did that song Epic. Remember Epic? Yeah, that song was pretty wicked.

And System Of A Down have some good stuff.

Other than that, I've left my nu-metal days behind me.

Zmev 12-18-2005 04:01 PM
I'll watch it after the Virgin Suicides, thanks to heavy rain I'm not going anywhere.
Well, that was depressing.

Daniel! 12-18-2005 04:05 PM

I just finished watching Trapt In the Closet Ch. 1-8. Apparently there is also 9-12, but they aren't showing it on TV.

Electrocution 12-18-2005 04:09 PM

I knew something looked wrong with that.

Electrocution 12-18-2005 04:13 PM

Spelling errors aside, Trapt are pretty awesome.
Well, that was depressing.
Well... if you feel that way about Virgin Suicides don't expect Magnolia to brighten up the day. It's a masterpiece, but not something that I'd watch everyday.

Yeah, they are both fantastic. I need to see Barton Fink.
I downloaded Magnolia thanks to bread
weehee, my whoring of Magnolia has paid off. Twice now. And that must have been freaking huge download.
Aaaah... Magnolia is probably my favorite film. Paul Thomas Anderson has that special something that no one else has today.
It's my favourite too. I have too see Hard Eight and Boogie Nights still. Punch-Drunk Love is also amazing. I can't wait to see what he does next.
After watching "Lost in Translation", I've been wanting to see that and other Coppola films. Haven't had the chance to, though.
She has other films? I thought those were the only two she has done, at least, the only 2 she wrote and directed. I believe she has a new film coming next year though.
I have Lost in Translation, but I haven't seen it yet.

This is true for too many movies that I have.
See it. I'll even let you stay up past your bedtime.
Well... if you feel that way about Virgin Suicides don't expect Magnolia to brighten up the day. It's a masterpiece, but not something that I'd watch everyday.
I thought the ending had a lot of hope in it though, even though the rest of it was pretty depressing.

PS, I think it's possibly Tom Cruise's best performance. The "don't die you ****ing asshole" scene is incredible.

She's directed 4, written 6.

br3ad_man 12-18-2005 04:45 PM

Ah, thanks. One was a TV series though, and one was only a segment, and another was the one that is coming out next year.

Hot shit. You need to see Boogie Nights. It's spectacular and nearly as good as Magnolia. Hard Eight is a great start to his career, but it just gets better from there.

Radiobass81 12-18-2005 04:51 PM

"I Heart Huckabees" was a movie I was REALLY surprised by. I only saw the last half, to be honest, but it was completely... demented in a sane way, if that makes sense (which it doesn't).

So... Anyone here into reading :upset:?

Electrocution 12-18-2005 04:55 PM

I just finished a book called Deep Blues, which is about the Mississippi Delta region and the music that came from there. It was preeeetty unbearable.

asymm 12-18-2005 04:56 PM

Also! I saw The Squid and the Whale recently and it was fantastic. Written/Directed by Noah Baumbach (Co-Wrote The Life Aquatic). It's a touching and moving story of a disintegrating family from a divorce. It's a wonderful film. My biggest reason for enjoying the film was the connection I felt with the father (Jeff Daniels). It was too close and occasionally scared me.

Daniel! 12-18-2005 04:59 PM

If we're talking books now, I just want to say that Neal Stephenson is a fantastic author.

Glitterati 12-18-2005 05:02 PM

Speaking of Coppola, I might watch Apocalypse Now or The Boondock Saints tonight. Such a hard decision.

Wanker 12-18-2005 05:08 PM

Tonight, I'm going to win the Stanley Cup via NHL '97. I'm the Red Wings and so far I'm a game up on the Washington Capitals.
The "don't die you ****ing spatula" scene.
That made me chuckle.

Happymeal 12-18-2005 05:13 PM
