The Feeding 01-20-2009 09:25 PM

but i still like ABR, not amazing by any means but a lot better than a lot of crap bands out there!

hismajestythepope 01-20-2009 09:43 PM

thrill seeker is good, theyre nice dudes, good live. everything other than thrill seeker is really mediocre.

badtaste 01-21-2009 07:18 AM

Someone recommend me an ultra mainstream metalcore band plox.

hismajestythepope 01-21-2009 07:21 AM

emmure

badtaste 01-21-2009 07:24 AM

pfft, their wikipedia page is non-elite.

DBlitz 01-21-2009 08:33 AM

kse

badtaste 01-21-2009 08:43 AM

aye, already given them a try, 'As Daylight Dies' was okay.

DBlitz 01-21-2009 08:50 AM

wait you are listening to these bands?

badtaste 01-21-2009 09:14 AM

Well, KSE is probably the only metalcore band I've ever listened to. I'm trying to work on the genre more.

ohwait, Shadows Fall as well.

hismajestythepope 01-21-2009 09:17 AM

Killswitch Engage is like that band that I always wanted to be good because the bands their members came from were so awesome, but they've really just become a bad parody of the bands that the members came from. :(

Dimmu Burger 01-21-2009 10:09 AM

KsE's Alive Or Just Breathing is the shiznit. I like the two albums after that as well but they are a bit more watered down.

2muchket! 01-21-2009 10:30 AM

AOJB and The End of Heartache are the only ones worth getting.

Try All That Reamains and As I Lay Dying for mainstream metalcore. They're both half decent.

Listen to BOTCH, all hail BOTCH.

But for mainstream try Norma Jean, Underoath, Architects, or whatever metalcore band is featured in Alternative Press.

Danks, I'll get started now. Might visit those KSE albums in the future.

Little Android Man 01-21-2009 08:34 PM

gotta say it August Burns Red.

*waits for elite troll*

DBlitz 01-21-2009 09:22 PM

I agree with ABR, its fun accessible metalcore, leading you into some of the better ones.

ABR rules hard tbh.

badtaste 01-21-2009 11:21 PM

I'll keep them in mind.

I've just given All That Remain's 'The Fall of Ideals' and As I Lay Dying's 'An Ocean Between Us' a listen. Alright I guess, but they both kinda sound the same.

Botch used to be mainstream.

Also, elite mainstream: Hopesfall & Misery Signals

Hopesfall is one of my favorite bands ever, but they're hardly mainstream.

hismajestythepope 01-21-2009 11:59 PM

I guess popularity varies state-to-state, but being in PA, metalcore is HUEG here, and back when Hopesfall was good, EVERYBODY here loved them.

botb 01-22-2009 12:02 AM

haha my band just got an offer to play with mychildren mybride, stick to your guns, and parkway drive, but its outta town and we'd have to presell a bunch so its not doable

hismajestythepope 01-22-2009 12:03 AM

Why is it not doable? those bands are pretty damn huge. Just post mad myspace bulletins, advertise on local forums, go to the mall and solicit random scenesters.

botb 01-22-2009 12:06 AM

it's kinda out in the middle of nowhere on a weeknight too =/

hismajestythepope 01-22-2009 12:07 AM

ohhhhhhhh.

that sounds like every time good bands come to my area. its not even worth opening for them, because nobody wants to come to allentown. :(

botb 01-22-2009 12:14 AM

yeah this is up north at a well-visited metal venue but probably no one is willing to make the drive.

hismajestythepope 01-22-2009 12:19 AM

lameness.

botb 01-22-2009 12:21 AM

sunday shows for the loss dude. but we're playing with periphery in march and im super stoked on that because they are sicckkk. some dude in the guitar forum is in that band.

hismajestythepope 01-22-2009 12:24 AM

botb 01-22-2009 12:26 AM
