There is none. Nobody can be considered the greatest unless somebody's heard all of them. He can be your favorite, but not considered the greatest of all time.

i love "all along the watch tower". robert dylans version is very dull, very boring. it sounds like hes dying in the first minute. although jimi had done alot of covers i still think hes a good guitarist for his era.

Actually, I thought Dylan's verion was good. I think I prefer Hendrix's, but the original is still good.

and about the Hendrix and Dylan thing. Anyone know if it's true that Hendrix hired Noel Redding simply because of his Dylanish hair? I've read that in many places, and i'm sure it could be true, because Noel Redding wasn't even a bass player.
i also heard that when deciding between Mitch Mitchell and another guy, they made Mitch and his competator bring in their girlfriends, and they went with the guy who had the hotter girlfriend because apparently that would make him a better rock star.

those may just be rumours though.

Yea, I just read that Noel Redding was a guitar player before the Experience. He does a great job on Bass considering he just switched to it.
