Ah. That can happen. People get excited.

It's noontime, and I have the sudden urge to play Chrono Trigger until I implode.

Hey are you still doin Chapter Four in the cover comp?

Lord Abortion 07-17-2005 10:57 AM
I read the first four in 72 hours. Don't doubt the power of the literate.
:fast reading H5:

I finished my new one in about 10 hours because as I have said, I read at an alarmingly fast rate...

Lunch 07-17-2005 11:06 AM

I got to about page 300 hundred yesterday, then had to struggle to put it down and go to sleep.

/nerd.

Cain 07-17-2005 12:14 PM

I finished the new book at about 10 o'clock last night after purchasing it at 1:30 that morning. I'm sad I couldn't make myself savor it, and I'm especially upset because there's so much stuff that needs to be resolved that will take five years for me to find out, based on Rowling's rate of production.

The ending to this new one was extremely distressing. Nothing that I wanted to happen between the characters happened. I guess that's natural, to set up for the seventh book, but still. The waiting for the final installment will kill me.

Steerpike 07-17-2005 12:18 PM

Funny thing is, I'm not really that worked up about Harry Potter at the moment.

Mostly, I've been reading over a volume of H.P. Lovecraft stories that I had a hard time finding at first. And I just finished "Good Omens" by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett and am left to wonder why there hasn't been a movie about it yet.

which lovecraft ones?

I still need to find the longer, short novel ones- at the mountains of madness etc. I have the other two short story omnibuses

 @ U

So, my computer at home is screwing me badly again. Connection won't work, therefore I couldn't post my pics of Sounds of The Underground and (in Joe's words) "come on here now just to belittle everybody's posts".

I'm a sad, sad man.

Mostly stuff from the dream cycle and a few miscellaneous short stories which aren't part of the Mythos proper, but are nevertheless counted among it, such as "The Beast in the Caves," "Entombed with the Pharoahs," and "The Lurking Fear."

"The Lurking Fear" is another Lovecraft story I hope to one day make a film adaptation out of.

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-17-2005 01:06 PM

Stupid YDload and his damn user title. Now I don't even want to read Harry Potter, as Dumbledore is the man. :upset:

What the hell is with that dumb bitch? It's like in every book, she's killing of the coolest characters. First Sirius Black, now this? :fistshake:

In other news, I learned Dredg's Catch Without Arms(the song) in about half an hour. Usually it takes me at least a couple of sittings to master a song. w00t, I sense progress!

the lurking fear is great, The shadow out of time has to be my favourite Lovecraft story ever though.

I'd care if I were 12 again :p .

That was an ignorant comment...

She should kill Harry Potter. That'd be awesome.

Lord Abortion 07-17-2005 01:20 PM

I spent today at work giving this girl who hasn't read it little clues to the plot which she guessed in a minute, I suck at misinformation, when I said Harry goes out with someone, (sorry jake for letting that slip) she said "who is she? it is a she isn't it?"
we laughed for a while and then I did her on her till...
(only part of this is true)

for fun I will now add big Jake on msn...

Shred Danson 07-17-2005 01:24 PM

I almost scored with a hot chick, for once, last night at a local show. Sadly, my timing was off...:( Missed chances...

Jom 07-17-2005 01:25 PM

I guess Rowling had to write Dumbledore out of the script since the actual who played him in the movies died, heh.

Anyway, I should have expected by visiting MX that there'd be spoilers. I have yet to purchase the book, so I guess I'm in no rush now.

Was that you on AIM talking to/taunting Ray?

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-17-2005 01:49 PM

Slowly. I have this elaborate vision in my head, but translating it to paper is much different than transferring it to film.

Haha

We're all in the AIM chat, and soon after you left, this person joins with the name bignblack. He immediately starts having a go at Ray, saying some stupid stuff. Apparantly he told Ray that he was you. He knew your past username and everything..

Jessica Alba also came into that chat, but I know who that was. :p

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-17-2005 02:22 PM

Oh, well no, it wasn't me. But hey, I just finished DLing Orph. Man, it's so freaking different than CWA...:-/ It's still freaking awesome. I'm listening to Is Not Everything right now. Who was Jessica Alba?

Lunch 07-17-2005 02:28 PM

This Harry Potter book is starting to get on my nerves. I'm 300+ pages in and it isn't leading up to anything. In Book five, there was the inevitable confrontation with Voldemort lurking throughout the whole book, making it darker and much more interesting. This book is just about Ron getting action (about damn time) and the kids bitching at eachother like they always do.

Shred Danson 07-17-2005 02:30 PM

magicbus was Jessica Alba. Haha, only if it were really her...

it's much more of a chilled, calm book, Harry isn't Emo in this one, which came as a great relief to me, all the CAPITALS dialogue got on my nerves in the last one

That's the best thing so far is how much cooler Harry is than he has been, but still I wish it was working on going somewhere.

Harry has verbally owned people numerous times so far, which is actually quite funny.
Who's Ron stickin' it to?

/me is trying to learn One
Ron sticks it to Lavender. But it's only because he thinks Hermione doesn't like him, but she does. And he likes her. But of course, by the end, Rowling continues to make the relationship question maddeningly difficult to predict. Harry gets into a very short-lived one with someone (won't say who) but the end throws that whole thing into question.

Unfortunately, it's going to be really slow to for me. We have to read it "together" which sucks so bad. I could be done by now.

Riva, I updated your Mythology thread with a bit about Black Dogs. :) It had fallen back a bit, and I promised I would update it. Check it out.

Lord Abortion: If we're basing the hotness level on the actress who plays her, then yes. :p They're gonna need to get a new one.
