Yes, all three are quite talented vocalists, but I'm better...
No.

Moses : Garm does way more then just extreme metal such as folk, avant garde and electronica, as does Vortex doom and avant garde and Vintersorg does folk and progressive metal as well.

I would hope that you have heard all of these guy's projects and bands they have been in.

Well I probably have heard their projects but didn't recognize it, I will check everything out when I have time. I didn't mean the only thing good was the extreme vocals and I can see where folk would be an influence and in fact I like the singing voices better.
Haha, you're Jared's bitch.
Oh well, I get paid.

No.

You could not even hold a pinky up to Garm, andI have never even heard you.

Besides, your sarcasm sucks pretty bad.

Moses : I was just pointing that out and seeing if you have heard them and such. If you want any songs, just contact me on AIM or MSN and I can hook you up with some songs.

i am the robots 07-16-2005 11:29 PM

I know it does, I'm just bored as **** right now.

I'd rather have YSI because my downloads just stop half way through the first few times I do it. Instead of haveing to restart the transfer over and over again I can just do it myself without wasting your time. Also email might work better but only if the files fit.

Jom knows all about this.
If you make a thread here, I hope it has more success than my most recent article had :(
I posted in it!!! Yeah, too many metalheads = Bob Segar being neglected.

Cain 07-16-2005 11:49 PM
I have all of their albums, and they are quite the nifty band.

Plus they have had IMO the three best metal vocalist of our time in the band at one point or another, each with 2 albums under their belts.

Garm, Vortex and now the almighty Mr. Vintersorg.

/yay
I have their album "Epic." As the title indicates, it's quite something. Very unlike other black metal given the very high production value, however. They make me want to check out the Prometheus album by Emperor, because I've heard it's similarly thick and stuff.

Moses 07-16-2005 11:55 PM

It's so much easier to enjoy black metal with good production, it helps the compositional quality shine through, but the tr00er stuff is good too and I like it more anyway.

Cain 07-17-2005 12:07 AM

I'm just a fan of thick, ambient production with lots of stuff going on. I never identified with stripped-down, raw sounds. They just aren't musical to me. This is why the indie-rock and grunge stance on reverb has always puzzled me. Like Eddie Vedder has said that he wants to remix "Ten" to take the reverb off it. Why? The reverb makes those songs what they are. The echoes and sustains produced by that effect can elicit a wide range of emotional responses. And so when a band plays out-of-tune and with poor production values, just to make a statement about their musical politics, it's rather transparent and stupid to me.

EDIT: This is not meant as a slight against poorly-produced black metal, or any other music in general. That's just me as a listener.

Moses 07-17-2005 12:12 AM

I can see what you're saying because with some stuff it's really hard to listen to because of the production. It's almost painful, I'll upload an Ulver song contrasting poor and good production. The song has both sides.

i am the robots 07-17-2005 12:43 AM

Guys, I decided it is time to post this:

Underoath - Cries Of The Past

Moses 07-17-2005 01:14 AM

This isn't the worst production I've heard but this is pretty much where I draw the line from being true, and being obnoxious.

Ulver
Oregon min. wage is 7.05 right now, and I make 8 bucks an hour, hurrah!

Jom : Interesting question, I would have to think about that one.

NP - Borknagar - A Tale Of Pagan Tongue

Garm = \m/
When I started working when i was 17 minimum wage in NJ was $5.15 an hour. Now that it is nearly 5 years later i think it is a whopping 5.75, which really brings down the wages a lot for all other jobs comparitively.

However it does appear that we have some of the cheapest gas prices on the east coast, so you give a little to get a little.
I wouldn't say all of metal, more like just black/extreme metal but that's still a huge complement. I NEED MORE SONGS.
I would say all of metal and not just black/extreme metal. Garm and vortex have insane ranges, and on top of that the three of them all have very unique, creative, and complex styles of singing that can be matched only by a select few.
Random question: knowing what you know now at this point in your life, what is one thing you would have done at any point in your life, so that if you went back in time, you could change that one thing... so that, in an imaginary future, that event-change would be better than what it is (was) currently (at some point in time)?
I'm confused.

The only thing I can immediately think I'd like to change (without just trying my whole life again, which would be awesome) is one of my AS choices.
Never heard of him.
Not really surprising, he's English and not really very well-known outside of the UK. I think he's underrated by a lot of people, because his humour isn't ever the political/social commentary-minded stuff that a lot of the best seems to be. His style is a lot more anecdotal; lots of stories and things, kind of like the uncle that won't shut up at a family gathering.

Incidentally, is your user title based on the Stiff Little Fingers song?

And Eleventeen : You couldn't even walk down the same street as Garm, Vortex or Vintersorg. Especially Vortex.

one thing i have noticed about vortex after having seen him with dimmu twice, and including the live video clips from him playing with arcturus, he isnt too incredibly accurate live. He doesnt sing out of key, but he doesnt exactly sing the right notes either.

As for vintersorg, from the live borknagar tracks i have heard, and the live otyg album, he is incredibly accurate live, never misses a single note.

As for garm, i have no idea what so ever considering he hates playing live.

EDIT:

I would give my FAs a name, but i am not clever enough to actually think of a name for them. I am taking suggestions however.

Arucard 07-17-2005 06:19 AM

I haven't heard any Vortex live, i will have to download some.

My room is such a tip since i got internet yesterday. I count.... 8 'blue bolt' cans (red bull alternative) and so many empty sweet packets.

this reminds me of my room except the red bull cans are water bottles. I'm a pretty untidy person. Magazines, clothes and CDs are thrown all over the place.

No, it's just over 600 pages. I read the last one within the day it came out, and that was longer than this one. I'm taking my time a bit more with this one, though.

Joe 07-17-2005 08:25 AM

Well i read the first one in a matter of weeks and read about half the second one and it bored me to tears so i gave up on it. I might read the third though, because I loved the movie and it's the favorite in the series according to a bunch of my friends so we'll see

It's based on the Bob Marley song "Johnny Was". Is the Stiff Little Fingers song a cover or something?
audacity hates you :p. It doesnt sound like you're doing something wrong. Why dont you try to to re install it?
Yeah, I know. :upset:
I'll definately try that though. I'm getting really pissed off. We have the whole song recorded, in different parts, the majority of the song is complete, but I have to add the last part in and it won't let me do it.

EDIT: Ray - How is the theme song for the show coming along? I also wanted to ask you, how it is working? Are we just posting as if we are the characters, or is it more like an RPG?

Illmatic 07-17-2005 09:51 AM

I have zero access to the right instruments and recording equipment right now, so I'm not far along. Also, I honestly have no idea...it started out as some innocent remark I made and somehow it was blown completely out of proportion.
