UnknowN Doodl3 04-12-2004 07:11 AM

UnknowN Doodl3 04-12-2004 10:22 AM
what about kill em all?
aside from St.Awful, Kill'em All is my least favourite Metallica album. Their direction from Kill to Ride was such a big jump, they really grew as song writers and musicians in such a short time. Kill has some great moments like "the four horsemen" and "no remorse" but it lacks the power and structure that were put into their other albums.

Thats because Cliff had more influence on them by the time they made RTL.

SlaveToTheGrind 04-13-2004 09:15 AM

i still like kill em all more

...

are there other solos that james playes besides that one in nothing else matter and the first one in master of puppets?

Burdcheese 04-13-2004 11:23 AM

why do you diss kill 'em all?

it's my favourite album. i got 6 tallica labums, but none of them has so much of drive. when you listen to kill 'em all, you want to crush everything.... it's just so f*ckin' crazy...

the only crap on this album is seek'n'destroy. the rest is awesome

Kill 'em all is good, not the best.

Jon 04-13-2004 04:39 PM

Kill Em All has the best songs, but I don't listen to it because it hurts my ears.

They should rerecord it. That would pwn.

Lets all share our love of Motorbreath. I have 6 live versions of it. Including one acoustic one, and one from 1982 when James was trying to be Vince Neil.

dougefresh 04-13-2004 04:41 PM

I agree, that would be awesome if they rerecord it. I don't really like KEA because of the quality, and it's kinda too thrashy for me

Jon 04-13-2004 04:42 PM

Another thing...

I can't stand the album version of Seek & Destroy. But live its incredible. Just one of those things...

Xerxes 04-13-2004 04:44 PM
I was trying to learnt the ride the lightining solo the other day. It is imo the hardest metallica solo out there
Try the 'Dyer's Eve' Solo. Its from Justice. Its like kirk hammet accelerated.

Xerxes 04-13-2004 04:46 PM
I agree, that would be awesome if they rerecord it. I don't really like KEA because of the quality, and it's kinda too thrashy for me
Yeah it is sort of primal to me as well... I don't think it was supposed to be very melodic. I think they were going through the ignorant teenage iwannabearockstar stage at that point in time. They matured pretty quickly. James was quoted as hating open chords, but then they made Fade to Black on the next album... yeah. Its just a youth thing. I'm a youth, though, so I can't help but wonder if James and the gang were a bunch of goobers.

superpeer 04-13-2004 05:28 PM

It's nice that it sounds a bit raw, they shouldn't rerecord it.

when_im_gone 04-13-2004 05:44 PM

It be very nice but it take away from the Kill em all sound weve grown to love or hate sure it will sound better but will it be the same?

Gernm18 04-13-2004 08:22 PM

it'd be pretty interesting if they rerecorded kea but i'd rather much see a great new album like ajfa or mop

ha the first person here that likes kill em all :chug:

Facsimile 04-14-2004 05:02 AM

You guys are all complaining about the sound quality of KEM but I, in all honesty, can't tell the difference between it and the other pre-Black albums.

btoto 04-14-2004 05:17 AM

^ yeah, i like your point. Kill 'Em All rules !!!!!!!!!

by the way, does anyone know where i can download cliff em all. i searched on kazaa, but there are only 4 clips of that video. but i want the interviews and the rest.
i live in freaked up asian country, and there are no rock CD's in stores. only hip-hop :(

so please, someone give me a link

thanks

goodbyesoberday 04-14-2004 06:09 AM

i have cliff em all on video. it ****ing rules

i got up to page 23 and got bored so i skipped to the last page, but so far no-one had said that kirk hammet is one of the most over-rated guitarist (IMO) he is extremely sloppy live and i would say 3/4 of all solos is just guitar-wankery... anyone agree? mustaine for me owns hammet, his **** in megadeath is unbelievable

seeing as this is the metal thread dont you also think that unlike metallica (who turned all gay, again IMO) bands like slayer and pantera musically just carried on ripping it up, writing and producing music which stayed true to themselves (i'm not saying that they didnt stay true to themselves but it makes you wonder what they were thinking when they WATCHED LIVE bands such as limp bizkit and avril lavigne cover their songs. would a band (think of a metal band randomly) crowbar do something like that? no. why? maybe they dont want to sellout?

it just seems that after the black album, i think things started going downhill musically, financially for the band i'm guessing things started to look brighter.

i hate the way that people always go on about how they like such a song on re-load and load, and there are 'a few good tracks'
f u c k that, i want them all to be ****ing amazing tracks, you put on master of puppets and as soon as battery kicks in, you know its just gonna get better and better.

when i saw metallica live, it was an amazing experience, they can control the crowd as well as making them feel part of the band BUT they still have (and i can only think of one flaw) kirk hammet, he ****ed up in quite a few songs.
now i know we will have some people saying "how can you expect him to play his solos note perfect, he plays so fast, blah blah blah. **** that, hes playing the pentatonic scale most of the time, its not that hard, i saw dream theatre live and vai, petrucci for dream theatre was spot on everytime and that goes without saying for vai.

sorry for the rant :)

SlaveToTheGrind 04-14-2004 06:10 AM

do you have something like ebay? maybe you can get it there a little cheaper

Squirrel 04-14-2004 06:15 AM

Pantera never carried on ripping it up - their sound became contrived and they tried to hard to sound like they were raw and brutal.
Slayer also softened up; they've changed on recent releases.

Also, Kirk doesn't fret wank, he has a lot of melody and he isnt a very fast guitarist at all.

AParanoidIronMan 04-14-2004 06:17 AM

you also forgot to mention, where is pantera now?
thats rite their gone...........

I don't get all you people that rant on about Metallica going soft. Slayer AND Megadeth both went soft too at some point in their career(Prove me wrong). Do you listen to all the bands to backup what you're saying or are you just pulling sh!t out of your mouth?
