Like a tr00 redneck! Who (besides you) goes to garage sales? That's like for poor people or hippies. |
poor people
Yeah, not everyone is made of money. Including me. |

I saw the video for The Anthem, its nothing special to me to be honest. The solo is fantastic though. Im still keener on Detonation though. Very anxious to hear the new album, looking forward to it. Just over a month left. Gonna be fantastic.
|
Shouldn't this thread be in the pop/pop rock section?
|
They have a new song called Entrance Of The Conflagration up at http://www.myspace.com/trivium
While I do think they try too hard to be Metallica, this new song still sounds really good to me (as well as the other two). I used to hate Trivium (actually there are still times when I'm undecided about whether I like them or hate them hahaha), but after seeing them put on a really good performance at SOTU and after hearing these new songs, I think I'm actually starting to like them. I might get The Crusade when it comes out, not sure yet. |
Trivium is amazing. I'm really excited for thier new album coming out soon. :)
|
yeh entrance to the conflagation is the best of the lot so far, but i'd say detonation is second best. I still like that song. But anthem sucks ***.
|
The trouble is the new album sounds too much like metallica... just minus the progression. If they really wanted to be as great as metallica, shouldn't they be focussing on creating a unique product that will leave a mark on music rather than just mindlessly ripping off the less progressive side of a band that did what Trivium is trying to do now in the 80s?
|
Well, even if they do sound a lot like Metallica in the 80's, I much rather have a new Master Of Puppets type album than another St. Anger...:smash:
:) |
Holy ****, I'm listening to the Anthem, the bit where they're shouting "yeah yeah, yeah yeah"...I thought it WAS fking James hetfield. I was like, "wtf, did they sample that bitch or what?"
|

 yea Heafy has the Hetfield voice down pretty good. You should listen to Entrance Of The Conflagration, I think it's their best off the Crusade so far. |
Yeah he's got it down alright but I think they've taken it a bit too far tbh. I still haven't been impressed with any solos yet either.
I haven't heard that song yet, only the ones on their myspace. |
It's on there now. They had the video for it, but took it down for some reason.
|
Oh yeah.
What a dumbass. EDIT!!! It's not too bad, I like most of it so I guess it's my fave so far too. It's definately a big change from the old Trivium. |
"the crusade" is an amazing song as well
bruce dickenson played on his bbc radio show, and I have an mp3 rip of it. Its fast and heavy and very dream theater esque |
Really? Sounds interesting.
|
My aunt's family is good friends with the families of trivium. Her son grew up with them. To bad they're from maine. >.<

They've got in on their website if anyone hasn't heard it. I'm excited about the new album. I'm curious about how the whole no-screaming thing will be. |

Word. It's pretty bad. |
Wow! I'm really digging Trivium's new stuff! I'll definitely be buying The Crusade when it comes out.
|
Just listened to Entrance..., really liking it, gonna definately pick up The Crusade when it's released.
|
I think they've pulled off the 80's-thrash-style damn well (from what i've heard so far), manage to capture the feeling that bands such as Metallica used to create while still keeping the Trivium effect.
If that made sense. |

If that made sense.
No, sir it did not. They ripped off Metallica. /end thread |
No, sir it did not.
They ripped off Metallica. /end thread
yes because any thrash band that has a rough singing style like hetfield is definately just copying metallica. trivium has kept to their old sound while expanding into a new genre of music their basically just metallca about 30 bpm faster and with more ripping solos. |
their basically just metallca about 30 bpm faster and with more ripping solos.
So they are ripping off Metallica. |
If they are ripping off Metallica, then every single power metal band is ripping off each other. Kalmah is ripping off Norther, and Skid Row rips off Motley Crue. And any other band within the same genre as another is ripping off each other...
|
If they play the exact same thing 30bpm faster and with more solos, then yes.
|
If they are ripping off Metallica, then every single power metal band is ripping off each other. Kalmah is ripping off Norther, and Skid Row rips off Motley Crue. And any other band within the same genre as another is ripping off each other...
That's exactly what happens and exactly why metal normally sucks. |
Unless you listen to decent an orignal metal that is.
|
Psh, there's hardly any. Name a few and I'll tell you why they aren't original. Unless they were the first in their genre of course.
|
That's a joke right?
I could name 15 original bands who've released an album in the past 6 years. |
That's a joke right?
No. Not after I've been brainwashed with prog and jazz and jazz fusion. I would like to take you up on your claim/ |
does anyone have a link to the other song they released from crusades thats not detonation. i heard they released one on their website earlier but then took it off and replaced it with detonation
|
Try Myspace.
You what? You want me to name 15 bands. Arch Enemy, Arsis, Avenged Sevenfold, Behemoth, Children of Bodom, Cryptopsy, Death, Dream Theater, Extol, Into Eternity, Mastodon, Necrophagist, Opeth, Orphaned Land, Shadows Fall. |
No. Not after I've been brainwashed with prog and jazz and jazz fusion.
I would like to take you up on your claim/
Opeth? Oh there we go ^^^ |
Arch Enemy,
Okay, even though the quality of the music is not horrible, it's in no way original.
Arsis,
Nah. Again, just because it sounds good, doesn't mean it's original or different.
Avenged Sevenfold,
They're catchy, but that's about it.
Behemoth,
Nothing Behemoth does is original, except maybe layering the vocals like a million times.
Children of Bodom,
Pm with harsh vocals? I've had enough of that in my day.
Cryptopsy,
One of the few original dm bands around, another notable one would be Vital Remains.
Death,
Okay, we're improving a little.
Dream Theater,
Dream Theater kind of spawned the trendy new prog metal that everyone wants to do. Ruddess is the only good thing about them these days.
Extol,
They are actually pretty unique.
Into Eternity,
Even though they are ****ing awesome, it doesn't mean they've done much for metal or they don't do much that's different from any other new prog metal.
Mastodon,
Mastodon is awesome and they have their own sound but I fail to see what's original about them.
Necrophagist,
Oh god, you picked the worst one. They probalby have the most copy-cat bands about them around. Influential within the genre that only has one sound. Even though they practically started and popularized it, it's old now.
Opeth,
There we go.
Orphaned Land,
There we go.
Shadows Fall.
Way to end on a bad note. Besides that, all these bands have riffs and use them in almost the same way. |
Okay, even though the quality of the music is not horrible, it's in no way original.
Yeah, I would've put Carcass, but the last album the released was Swanson 10 years ago, or even In Flamesor At The Gates.
Nah. Again, just because it sounds good, doesn't mean it's original or different.
Arsis are incredibly original, one of the few Melodic Death bands that aren't just Gothenburg rip-off.
They're catchy, but that's about it.
This is where I start to disagree. I really haven't heard to many albums like CoE. Even hair metal was different. How many Motley Crue albums had a full orchestra or choir, and had intelligent lyrics and an average 7 min song length?
Nothing Behemoth does is original, except maybe layering the vocals like a million times.
Again, they probably weren't the best example, I could've found better, like Bathory.
Pm with harsh vocals? I've had enough of that in my day.
Please, CoB are a lot different most Power Metal. And besides AYDY? isn't even power metal, it's totally original and just plain metal.
One of the few original dm bands around, another notable one would be Vital Remains.
Tr00f.
Okay, we're improving a little.
:)
Dream Theater kind of spawned the trendy new prog metal that everyone wants to do. Ruddess is the only good thing about them these days.
That doesn't make them any less original.
They are actually pretty unique.
And incredibly badass.
Even though they are ****ing awesome, it doesn't mean they've done much for metal or they don't do much that's different from any other new prog metal.
Meh, to me they sound a lot different from most of the stuff out there, but I haven't dwelved to much into the recent prog. scene.
Mastodon is awesome and they have their own sound but I fail to see what's original about them.
They have their own unique sound, they don't rip-off anyone, and they have really original melodies and chord progressions.
Oh god, you picked the worst one. They probalby have the most copy-cat bands about them around. Influential within the genre that only has one sound.
One sound! You can't tell me Demilich, Cryptopsy, Necrophagist, and Anata all sound the same.
There we go. There we go.
:)
Way to end on a bad note.
They were original when they first came out, not now when most NWOAHM sounds relatively close. |
how about tool? Id say they are the most unique heavy metal band to come out in the past 15 years by far
