When I have some time (in a week or two) I will be putting together a pop punk forum music competition, one category will be originals and one will be covers. It will be either collaborative songs among forum members or members' bands. The deadline will be around late July probably and I'll sticky the thread until then so it doesn't die. Thoughts?

I dont know how many people in here have bands. If my band had recorded stuff I would post it, but we dont.

But my goal is to have less original stuff by pop punkers' bands and more collaborative efforts, hence the July deadline :)

My reasoning was thus:
I could post refuting Chris' sillt post about his right to smoke, and we could go back and forth until the thread was entirely derailed and then close it, or I could skip a step and just close it.

Mind, if that second page had discussed anything related to the band alright but meh, it seemed a lost cause. Make a new one if you want.

Well, honestly, though, who really cares if the thread goes off topic? I mean this forum is slow as is and the whole point of online forums is to generate discussion to pass the time and keep from being bored. All the threads in here are pretty much:

I agree and it wasn't so much that it was off topic but more that I figured it would result in lots of pointless flaming and arguing so I closed it *shrug*

I think we even had some kind of formal debate threads where like three or 4 people would join each side on an issue. I wasn't ever a part of it, but I seem to remember it being cool.

Unfortunately, a lot of stuff like that probably wouldn't work anymore. The only threads that seem to generate any interest at all are off-topic.

I'll be lucky if I get more than 5 entries for the Pop Punk Music Comp and that has 2 months to get put together so yeh =|

Most of the regulars have outgrown pop punk so there isn't much incentive for discussion and the influx of new posters is very minimal. Not sure what if anything can be done about it.
