Australian Pink Floyd for the win.
|
"The Machine" is coming to NY soon. Good show?
I'll probably check it out.
Do it! I saw them a little while back and they were really good. They didn't do songs you would expect, whitch was really cool. I think the only thing that would impress me more than them thats close to the real Pink Floyd is when I see David Gilmour on Teusday. |

Are you seeing him at MSG? I tried to get tickets but they sold out right away. You're lucky you got tickets. Have fun at the show. You better tell us about it too. I'll get tickets for the Machine then. I think they were $10 or something. |

1-10 what would you guys give for Gilmour's new solo album? I'm interested in buying it but I don't want to set my hopes high and then be disappointed with it.

7. It's pretty good. Some weak tracks, but Gilmour's guitar playing really shines. |

I would go as high as 8 for that album. Its defenetly worth the money. I don't want to make any false predictions, but I doubt that you'll see anything put out any better from any of the members of Pink Floyd after this. |
Alright, thanks mangs.
|
I'd go for 7 for the new Gilmour album.
In relation to the Pink Floyd tribute acts, from the ones I've seen, I'd rank them thus: Aussie Pink Floyd Beyond The Darkside The Pink Floyd Experience I haven't seen The Machine. |
Obscured By Clouds first.
I don't know, I really like old Barrett stuff. |

I don't have Relics yet, but OBC is an absolute essential. |
Yay. Got The Final Cut. Can't be arsed explaining how I've found it so far again. If anyone's interested, jump over to the last comment on the review at sputnik.
A bit late too, but I'd give Dave's new effort a solid 7.5. 7's too little but 8's a bit rich for me. I love Take a Breath and This Heaven is pretty good, too. And the booklet's el coolio! |

I've lent it off my cousin and thus far have not yet listened to it. |
The new Gilmour album is very good.
I'd give it like 8/10. |
I've fallen in love with the album "wish you were here"
the songs are all amazing and I get the biggest feeling of isolation when I put on this album and let it take me away. what other albums by pink floyd do this to you? this is the first album that has gotten me so intrigued by them |
The new Gilmour album is very good.

I'd give it about a 7/10. Good album overall.
Jetpack, the only Floyd albums that give me a feeling of isolation would be WYWH and The Wall. |
I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. For a long time Pink Floyd was my favorite band because the bands playing just took me away. It was just me, the songs, and my thoughts. It was almost like I was in my own little world. The notes and words seem to etch themselves into my life and in some ways just the notes to their songs tell their own story, my story. The emotion they put into their music became my emotion, and it just all seemed to make more sense when it had a beat, rhyme, organization. This is the world Pink Floyds songs took me to. Though for some reason Dylan does that for me more than Floyd did. Though nothing really takes me away like some Floyd songs like Echoes or Comfertably Numb. |
wish u were here is a great song

I'm listening to it right now for the first time in awhile.. I play it on my guitar like 4 times a day though ha. |
It's my favourite by Pink Floyd.
|
It is a classic. It's one of the only ones you hear on the radio these days. :(
|
Hehe, my local classic rock radio show loves Floyd. We get all sorts of songs, such as Mother, Goodbye Blue Sky, Nile Song, Corporal Clegg, etc.
|
i gotta pick up a pink floyd album one day..
how long is the album 'wish you were here' ? i cant believe this album was released so long ago |
The album is only about 42 mins long. Well worth it though.
|
My classic rock station actually plays a decent selection of Floyd. I've heard Shine on You Crazy Diamond 1-5, The Machine, Wish You Were Here, Have a Cigar, Time, Speake to me/Breathe, Money, Brain Damage/Eclipse Another Brick in the Wall, Run Like Hell, Mother, Young Lust and Hey You.
|
wow i cant find the album in itunes.. doubt i'll find it at the local store
|

The live version is excellent. |
My classic rock station only ever plays Have a Cigar, Time, CN, and WYWH. I wouldn't know what to do if I heard Corporal Clegg on the radio.
For some reason, I don't like most live versions of WYWH. |
Eh, I was hesitant on buying "Wish you were here" because it only had 4 songs, and it was like $15.
Then I listened "Shine on you crazy diamond" And I can't get it off my head. I need the album badly. :( |
