I'm prejudiced against BMD, because the on the version I obtained, every song is like 20 minutes. Brave is 46. And they are really that length, not just mistagged.

Angels of Distress has been played constantly in my iTunes :)

Awesome band.
I'd much rather new Katatonia than old, but the old stuff has its moments.
I don't like Jonas' growls,I love Mikeal's growls though.
BMD is such an awesome yet simplisitic album.
My favorite Katatonia album is actually: Viva Emptiness.
:)

Seconded.
Also the full-length is very much enjoyable.
Did you send me that full-length at some point? I think I lost it - can't find it now, at any rate - but I remember it being pretty good.

I never really thought of myself as much of a fan of theirs, but suddenly I find I have three of their albums. Kind of a pleasant surprise. Do you have a favourite?

I remember uploading the full length a long while back. (or maybe just a few tracks, can't remember.) I can re-up it if you like?
Are you on the daily upload list?

I'll probably be able to uplaod it during the afternoon, since I'm at uni right now.
<_<

Also:

On the sex wtih funderal doom topic:
I played Mar De Grises (doom/death) last evening.
And I must say we had a very enjoyable evening.

np: Ulver - Tomorrow Never Knows

Kyuss > QOTSA.
I always found QOTSA to 'forced catchy', if that makes sense.

Nah, I'm not. It's alright though, I don't want you to go to the trouble of uploading it again, I'll just wait until I (someday) stumble across it in a record store. I've got the EP for now (and I don't even have a physical copy of that).

Werny 10-10-2006 06:05 AM

I got Khanate's self-titled. I don't find it very droney, rather more sludgey, but then again I've only listened to the first song. They're the only "drone" band I've heard that's lived up to my expectations (heavy, hypnotic, abrasive)! Amazing.

Jondur 10-10-2006 06:53 AM

Any fans of St Vitus - Die Healing?

I think it's a great album. Scott Reagers has so much more expression in his voice than Wino.

NP St Vitus - Dark World

ps. I'm in the process of burning a compilation CD of songs with World in the title. Dunno why - I just am. So far I've got:

St Vitus - Dark World, Morbid Angel - World of Sh1t, Corrosion of Conformity - Mad World, At The Gates, World of Lies, Reverend Bizarre - Doom over the World,

And that's all I can think of in my collection so far. But to be fair I haven't looked through to find others yet. An interesting new approach to making compilation CDs though I'm sure you'll agree.

Kyle 10-10-2006 07:08 AM

A couple of possibilities;

Black Sabbath - Lord of This World
Corrosion of Conformity - World on Fire

Yeah I do like his vocals, but I guess my favourite album with him on would be the self titled debut.
I've only heard a couple of songs off Die Healing actually. Is it better than the early stuff with him?

I have that one too, great music.
I was quite shocked when I heard the, cause my only drone experience before that was Sunn O))).
I love the vocals on Khanate, it sound s like Chuck, but more insane and raspy.
I've never checked out Things Viral 'cause it doesn't get good reviews at M-A, but than again, how trustworthy is M-A..

SO anyone know if that one's worth picking up?

Ah, I haven't heard any Vitus past V yet :(

V is possibly my favourite Doom album though. Either that or Epicus.

Almost the exact same thing happened to me.

My favorites are Songs for the Deaf and R. But my favorite song is on Lullabys--You've Got a Killer Scene There Man.

Tyr 10-10-2006 10:37 AM

I'd say that R is my favourite QOTSA, but I'm not a huge fan.

AlienEater 10-10-2006 10:46 AM

I really love R. Thier first's good too.

Wasn't Reagers before? Anyway I much prefer Wino, I love everything he's been.

Pete thanks for reminding me that I had Aarni's stuff lying around. I love it how he does all that progy stuff but keeps the Doom feel in his music. The flute is great.

No problem mate. :)
I'll probably upload it for the daily shortly, along with some other more typical Avant-Garde stuff.
The flute is great indeed, it gives a real nice touch to it.

NP: My Dying Bride - From Darkest Skies

i love this band... who else does?

the2stranger 10-12-2006 04:01 PM

/Raises hand!
I do!
Great band
I love The Cry Of Mankind ( the whole cd is great actually).
Also Turn Loose The Swans and their second newest rocks, I haven't heard the newest; A Line of Deathless Kings.

Also: For My Fallen Angel is on of the most beautiful tracks ever. :)

EDIT:
In fact I'm going to listen to The Angel And The Dark River before I go to sleep. :D

Shattered_Future 10-12-2006 04:03 PM

Their newest album is really, REALLY good. Much better than SOD, WOL.

I love My Dying Bride. Like Gods Of The Sun is a doom masterpiece.

the2stranger 10-12-2006 04:06 PM

I like SOD, WOL as well. :)
My Wine In Silence is such a great track.

Shattered_Future 10-12-2006 04:11 PM

I hated SOD, WOL, to be quite honest, though I haven't listened to the album in a while. It seemed to drag on and on and on from what I remember.

Sleepy 10-12-2006 04:43 PM

I'm in love with The Dreadful Hours.

Also, I've been listening to Krux's S/T lately and it's bloody amazing. Sending it in to Oz when I get a chance, in case any of you haven't heard it.
