Yeah I like the Kashmir-influenced intro.

Darkness 09-09-2005 06:56 PM

Me to.. Wake Up is rockin.

Mambuto_O'Mally 09-09-2005 07:38 PM

Township Rebellion or Year Of Tha Boomerang.

dr._feelgood 09-09-2005 07:43 PM

Oh, I forgot Township Rebellion that song has my favorite solo courtesy of Tom Morello.

Thats good but man, what a mindblowing breakdown/bridge/interlude. Very powerful. Also Fistful Of Steel is really good to.

dr._feelgood 09-09-2005 07:51 PM

Yeah, the only part I don't like in Township Rebellion is "Why stand on a silent platform fight the war, fuck the norm." It seems repetive after a while.

Thats part of its powerfulness (if thats even a word). It awesome. :thumb:

dr._feelgood 09-09-2005 07:59 PM

Yeah it's cool the first few times. The best part vocally is the speed-rapping part.

Thor 09-09-2005 08:06 PM
Yeah it's cool the first few times. The best part vocally is the speed-rapping part.
Feh, the solo is easily the best part of that song. The rest of the song is just typical RATM, nothing special really happens.

dr._feelgood 09-09-2005 08:07 PM

Yeah, that's why I specified that the speed-rapping was the best part vocally. That solo totally owns though.

Feign 09-11-2005 01:29 AM

RATM was definately the most politically aware band. the thing that made ratm so popular was there own creative genre of funk rock music. did you know that maynard james keenan of tool sings the "i got no patience now" bit in know your enemy. and that tom morello was in a band with adam jones (the tool guitarist) in high school.

Big J 09-11-2005 01:53 AM

funk rock??

Did ne 1 listen to them on the impossible music festival? they were gr8

Please, let's not start this. The thread has been going very well over the past few months and we don't need to foul it up with this nonsense.

The_Outlaw_Torn 09-11-2005 06:34 AM

Hmm

Meh, rage are ok. They're not great. I like their self titled album, but the rest of their stuff pretty much sucks. Yeah, like someone said earlier, nothing really special happens. You've heard one rage song from an album, you've heard the whole album.

Everyone knows that mate. This is the RATM thread, the people who know most about Rage post in here.

How can you say **** like that! Rage are one of my all time favourite bands and the reason that i listen to the music i do now. All their albums are good.

Hep Kat 09-11-2005 07:36 AM

true that...and i'm just saying for no real reason now that tom morello rules...
true that...and i'm just saying for no real reason now that tom morello rules...
I totally agree. Simple riffs but man do they kick ***. Tom Morello is a one of the only true guitarists left along with Zack Wylde, Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King. IF only Dimebag was still here. He knew how to rip!

Hep Kat 09-11-2005 07:56 AM

and the arm the homeless strat that's about one of my favorite guitars ever :thumb:

I don't think that it is a strat, but it is a cool guitar nonetheless (sp?).

KillTheEmo101 09-11-2005 08:55 AM

I gotta say Tom is sick when it comes to guitar. When i first started listenin to ratm i thought that there was some crazy *** effects until i tried playin some of their songs. then i realized that he is just really really really creative :p :p

Most of his stuff isn't really difficult, it just is original and makes the band better than it would have been without him.

KillTheEmo101 09-11-2005 09:12 AM

Yea i didnt really mean it as being hard stuff but just really out of the norm and creative... guess thats stuff you come up with when you play like 12 hours a day :D :D

anyway favorite album is the self-titled album

Oh, of course. The self titled is the best album of the 90s probably. What's your favorite track off of it?

KillTheEmo101 09-11-2005 09:25 AM

Hmmm its sort of a tie between know your enemy and bombtrack. But im not sayin that the other songs are bad, come on who can hate killing in the name of and township rebellion :)

Darkness 09-11-2005 10:56 AM

Glad to see some new people posting this thread... normally its only like 3 people. Including myself.

Audiopond 09-11-2005 11:04 AM

Well I have all their cds but never really got into em. The only song I like is guerrilla radio but they never really kept me listening.
