Mustaine plays Trust at every show, so it can't all be crap. Granted, KIMB > CW, but CW has some good songs... Trust and She Wolf for instance. Never listened to Risk.
CW has a lot of great song writing, people just don't realize. Trust, Mastermind, Sin, Secret place, Vortex, there's a lot of good sounds on that album.
Ever consider the possibilty that risk and cryptic writings aren't crap?
and that maybe you just don't like them?
Like I said - my opinion... And Dave's of course

And if you don't trust me, you should read the statement he issued during the production of TSHF

maybe it's just me because I didn't have cryptic writings before the gig so I hadn't heard it
so my memory of it isn't as good as the other songs

My first thought is that he was just saying that to support teh new 'Metal' sound the 'Deth picked back up.

cryptic wrightings was my first megadeath album. and i loved it so i went out and bought countdown to extinktion and was disappointed. but never really listened to the others

Burdcheese 02-22-2005 02:27 PM

I think Cryptic Writings will probably be my next 'Deth album (since Youthanasia seems to have temporarily disappeared).

I downloaded a fair few of the songs - damn they're catchy. Even if they're not especially Metal.

Would I be right in comparing this to Load/Reload?

Dissappointed in Countdown? Really?

Risk and Cryptic Writings are essentially the same for 'Deth as they were for Metallica.
They represent the same progression in sound.
when????

i heard that he hated it, and the producer he had at the time kinda forced them to take that type of direction. apparently risk was going to be what the world needs a hero was - starting to go back to real megadeth - metal \m/
He was talking about the remasters on his little column in the Megadeth forums, and he said that he was convinced that the remaster would bring out the greatness in Risk. (but I still don't really like the album)
crush em was class load of good songso n it that nobody ever cares about cos they think megadeth is al about peace sells and rust in peace
Apparently after Dave recorded that song, he went out and threw up all
over the parking lot, because he realised he had finally crossed the line.

That said, i still like it, even though it's about hockey

sixxbassist90 02-22-2005 08:50 PM

i dont know that many songs by them. but i heard peace sells. it sounds really good. can anyone reccomend an album?

Arise II 02-22-2005 08:51 PM
Dissappointed in Countdown? Really?
It is possible, I had the same problem when I first listened to it. After a while, it did grow on me. I think its main problem (apart from the slick, over-produced sound that most Megadeth albums past RIP suffered from) is that it has some seriously bad/filler songs on it.

Of course, it still has Countdown, Skin, Architecture, Symphony and Forclosure \m/

BTW, does anyone know why Sloas and the other guys from TSHF isn't touring with the band now?

MAthiAS 02-22-2005 11:06 PM

Filler, on Countdown? I'd say there's no filler on it... But that's just my opinion.
BTW, does anyone know why Sloas and the other guys from TSHF isn't touring with the band now?
Caualita or something like that, the drummer? I really don't know, but the touring lineup is really good right now I'd say, its a shame Menza had to bail.

vashts80 02-23-2005 01:28 AM

Vinnie Colaiuta...I think he was the drummer for Sting as well, was he not?

I also think the lineup for the tour is good now...although, a RIP lineup return (- Ellefson, + MacDonough) would be awesome...Marty, Nick, Dave, James...:O...however, Glenn and Shawn are filling in nicely for Chris/Marty/Al and Gar/Nick...James > Juniour, IMO. Although, Juniour did write all the lines James is playing.

I just hope that Dave's solo career has this lineup for it. They work well together IMO.

Yeah, although, I don't know if I'll ever be able to forgive Shawn for ****ing up the final solo in Holy Wars when they were playing live... Grrrrrrr!

Arise II 02-23-2005 12:59 PM
When I saw them live I didnt notice any solos messed up
Yeah, well, can't get it right all the time

MAthiAS 02-23-2005 01:31 PM

Glen played the solos all perfectly the same as Marty except for the clean solo in Holy Wars. IMO, Glen > Pitrelli, but Poland and Marty would both be better. I'd like to see Poland in the studio on Dave's solo albums, but that'd kind of be unfair to Glen.

willis2441 02-23-2005 05:05 PM

no one likes to stay in the band for very long because mustaine is a dope addict,i mean hes very talented at guitar though

willis2441 02-23-2005 05:14 PM
Hes clean now I think, and hasnt he found God?
maybe, but i kno thats why jimmy del grasso left the band.

vashts80 02-23-2005 05:50 PM

Jimmy left the band because Mustaine got mad at his wife for her calling Mustaine a dopehead or an acaholic or something over the phone, IIRC.
