Oops, yeah, that was Tired of Me. It was supposed to be Tired of Me, I'm just confused as to how it ended up labelled otherwise.
As for whether you should check out Godflesh..well, they're industrial pioneers, which may well be reason enough. Other than that, read around reviews for Jesu, and see what you think. Jesu is (Godflesh main-man) Justin Broadrick's first venture since Godflesh fell apart (painfully for him, apparently) in early 2002, and the contrast and parallels between the two are really cool; they're both really heavy, dense, etc, but Jesu is ultimately uplifting while Godflesh is ultimately negative and smothering. Makes for plenty of cool metaphors, if nothing else (mostly to do with Jesu being Broadrick's healing). I think the whole situation is great, but it makes everyone who reviews Jesu sound like a big hippy. EDIT: Dibs. |
I think I may have reviewed another song by these guys at some point, but I can't remember it well, so never mind.
Equilibrium - Die Prophezierung - 5:10 Starts off with somethign that sounds almost woodwindy. Good though; lively. Guitars come in good and heavy after a couple of repetitions, following the same basic pattern of the folky instruments at the start. Vocals come in pretty soon too, just a decent growl. Reminds me a bit of Martin Schirenc. Oh wait; short instrumental break, and then the vocalist comes back in, sounding little like Martin Schirenc; now sounds much deeper, and more 'foreign' (it sounds more obviously continental European). A roar around 1:40, and the music carries on in this rather swift vein it's been in for a while - that woodwindy sound comes back. Another long roar signals the end of this instrumental section, and we get what I assume is another verse. 2:50 - this guy really likes his extended roaring screams. I'm not complaining though, he's quite good at them. Now it suddenly sounds more obviously symphonic (as if this symphonic element has always been there, and is now just more pronounced). Around 3:20 we start having the introductory bit, punctuated by blasts of heavier guitar-driven music. Good stuff. The rest of the song more or less carries on like that. Not to say it gets boring, but there's nothing more I can say about it without just repeating myself (even more). And it fades out swiftly at 5:10. 8/10. It was good. **** Sparrer - Watch Your Back
This track is actually really good. Cool riff in the intro, i love his voice for some reason. When was this recorded? The Oi's! are pretty good, abit weak but pretty cool. The verse is very catchy, and the chorus is incredibly cool. Solo : Nice punk solo here, nothing flashy in any way, but it still ****ing owns. All these bands seem to talk about is the government though, but these lyrics seem pretty well thought out. 'Well we dont wanna fight!' A good track overall, definatly checking more of these dudes out. Now. Arsis : Dust And Guilt (Melodic Death) Trivium : Declaration (Metalcore) Kreator : Material World Paranoia (Thrash) Richard Andersonn : Despair And Pain (Neo-Shred/Power Metal) In Flames : Zombie Inc (Metal) Very metal... |
When was this recorded?
1993. Is that surprising? I always thought it sounded older. The album it's from (Shock Troops) just did rather well in Punk's Top 100 albums polls, by the way. |
Ahh, i thought it was older. I didnt vote in the last rounds, nothing i liked really. 'Cept Streetlight.
In Flames : Zombie Inc (Metal)
I had this song already, but previous to today I had not listened to it. I decided to give it a shot. The intro is decent, nothing too special or overly catchy. After the intro the song picks up a little bit and the vocals come in, which I enjoyed. The first two minutes wasn't bad. At about 2:10, the song quiets down. I really enjoyed this part. Next comes the solo, which I also really enjoyed. Everything post-solo I enjoyed just as much as the first 2 minutes. Definitely not a waste of my time, although I can't say it'll be a regular on my playlist. Just another In Flames song. Now: E Nomine - Das Omen im Kreis des Bösen (mit Robert De Niro) (darkwave ambient/goth/industrial) Evergrey - The Great Deceiver (metal) Freedom Call - Land of Light (power metal) Into Eternity - Shallow (metal) Mors Principium Est - The Unborn (metal, not really sure which sub genre) If you can't find the songs, just tell me. |
If you could upload Evergrey that would be good, I went looking and found 'Evergrey - Recreation Day' and I liked that sound of that, so yeah, if you could upload that it would be really good.

can we have another thread about this cus...its just too long...and some ppl might repeat the recomended song...and ppl might get irritated...and i aint a fag...i know im irritating so dont speak...
|
It doesn't matter if the songs get repeated, as long as the person reviewing still hasn't heard whichever he does before.

His username accounts for his stupidity.

How about this one:
Eternal Decision - Hunger I think this is the only song they have released, but i really like it, and its not very well known... Also Spunge - Jump on demand.... Thank you |
Read the RULES.
On a lighter note, Lars Ulrich is the worst drummer metal has ever seen. |

Evergrey - The Great Deceiver
As I mentioned above I tried to get this song but couldn't obtain it, however I found the song that they released and apparently the title track of the album 'Recreation Day' and I really enjoyed that song, so going into this song I have quite high hopes and through the first listen I wasn't disappointed. [0:00] - The songs starts immediately with some very nice guitar work, a solo and some great tones. The bass plays relatively quick, singular notes underneath this which carries into the verse when the vocals enter. [0:22] - The verse seems a bit dull like its lacking something, until the guitars to their little fill, this occurs twice. And then the intensity from the band increases and the vocalist gets a little higher... then it repeats this structure but instead of a build up there is a heavily distorted guitar playing an ... ahhh irregular rhythm I guess, with a keyboard over the top, I really like it. [1:50] The chorus seems to be chanted, then there is a drum roll and it goes into the more intense version of the verse, so far I really like this. [2:34] A similar feel to the irregular rhythm above, however this one is more abstract and there is strings above it. Then it returns to the normal one for two bars it sounds, then into the pumped up part of the verse again. [3:35] Same riff/solo is played as the beginning into the solo which sounds awesome. [4:18] After some awesome arpeggioes the song ends abruptly. AWESOME. Possibly the best song I have been recommended so far in this Forced Listening, I really really enjoyed it. It has a bit of everything I guess, the only possible downside in the song is the bassist, I personally don't listen out for the bass, though if there is a complex bassline I can generally hear it... Anyways easily a 10/10 My Recommendations Opeth - The Drapery Falls (One of the songs that is helping me get into Opeth) A Perfect Circle - Gravity (Art Rock?, its relatively soft) Dream Theater - Honor Thy Father (Metal) Incubus - Sick Sad Little World (Rock) Muse - Hysteria (Heavy Rock) |
I would really really love to do the Drapery Falls, but i not only heard it, but learnt it.... :upset:
I would try some muse. Does soulseek have it? |
I'll upload :thumb:

ah, even though i like opeth, i shall take the dib, for i dont listen to much of them. i dont think ive even heard that song yet (maybe though)
|
I don't think you can take two dibs at once, and I think enim got in before you, so he gets dibs on the Opeth song and that is the dibs taken from my post. Then you are allowed to take dibs from his post...
I'm pretty sure thats how these works... |
I thought you could dib individual songs from a person's list...? Or am I mistaken?
EDIT: I think I must have misread rule #2, I believe. So it's basically someone dibs a person's post, but doesn't have to do all the songs, but still no one else can get dibs from that post? Sorry about this n00bness, I just think this would be fun but I've never done it before and the rules are somewhat unclear. |
Opeth - Drapery Falls
This review is gunna take a while, with a 11 min. song. Opening with a short acoustic guitar riff, bringing in heavy, fast bass and drums, with high, slow guitar. It continues the same riff for a while, with many variations to all the instruments. At 1:10, the riff changes, the keys are exactly the same though, very smooth transition. Now the guitar is taking the lead over the bass. This section is only 30 seconds long, then fades into an Acoustic, that same high, slow guitar, and eventually lyrics. 2:16, whispery, radio-quality lyrics come in over the same acoustic/elec. combo. He says 2 lines like that, then brings the rest of the band back in for not even 15 secs. Cool lil section right there though. The acoustic is still audible through everything. They then repeat basically the same thing again. This time the band keeps going, and changes the riff yet again. The great drumming of Opeth shows through now, not overworking the set, yet the complexity sounds as if it is not made by a human. Very easy-sounding. And then there is a very good guitar solo starting at 4:33 and continuing until 5:02. Here, the song really gets engaged. A much harder, darker sound now, with the signature Opeth growls. The kind of thing that i like (if you like it, check out the CD Blackwater Park). At 6:07 or so, it switches gears again. Slower (by todays standards) doublebass keeping the beat, the guitarists using the higher end of the fretboard, whilst the bass stays low. Great combo here. the growling comes back over a whining wail of a guitar with one note held out for a lil longer then sounds possible. The drummer is now using a different time signature, going faster. Ah, the crazy distortion to acoustic switch, this comes at 7:46. Opeth does this, i wanna know how they pull it off live. The singers voice here is great. The acoustics goes for about 20 sec., then switches back to dist. for a few riffs, with very fast and hard drumming to back it up. That repeats, then the opening riff comes back. the opening riff continues for too long, it feels like it will never change. The drummer does end up adding double bass, but it still sounds too similar. In my opinion, the song could have been cut much earlier, the lead out took WAY too long (almost 2 minuets). 8/10, 9 if it werent for being too long. My Recs: (yes, i realize some of it is christian, its the best music i have. Check it out none-the-less, its good stuff) 12 Stones - Lifeless (Christian Metal) http://s46.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=117ZDZ2X0MOFQ1RSSK9Q4I27Z3 Across Five Aprils - Blue-Eyed Suicide (Christian Metal)http://s40.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3JMPZYPLO6SQ92TLB8ISGEYJX6 Six Feet Under - As I die (Death/Black Metal) |

So what if its Christian? Can't it be good then?

I'll take the dibs I think...
