It would be a tossup between The Four Horsemen or Whiplash, depending on how thrashy I'm feeling.

Mine would be a toss up with metal militia and no remorse for second place, behind the four horsemen. |
Seek & Destroy is a classic song too.

Seek and Destroy is pretty good. I'm a big fan of Fight Fire With Fire.

ok well i'll do a review for fade to black
Fade to Black was written in the early 1980s and was released on the 1984 album, Ride the Lightning. It was written after the band's equipment was stolen (I think on a northeast leg, maybe in Boston) and James was depressed about losing his favorite amp with a certain tone he loved (I think it was a marshall stack). I might be completely wrong about James' equipment, but that was the story that I know. It starts out with a soft, mellow acoustic intro played by James. A few seconds into the acoustic, Kirk begins one of his more soulful and incredible solos. Following the solo, another acoustic riff by James comes into the song (Am, C, G, Em). The interesting thing that I like about this song is that there really isn't a chorus with lyrics, just distorted guitars and heavy drums. Honestly, the little riff right after the chorus I don't really consider a solo. It's kind of like the riffs on For Whom the Bell Tolls, it's just a quick riff a little different that's sort of solo-y but not quite. The "chorus" is followed by another verse of depressing lyrics that sound like someone who wants to commit suicide wrote them. "Things are not what they used to be Missing one inside of me. Deathly lose, this can't be real. Cannot stand this pain I feel. Emptiness is filling me, To the point of agony. Growing darkness taking dawn, I was me but now he's gone." Metallica really came through for the last few minutes of the song. Post 2nd chorus, a brand new heavier riff along with a verse. Fading towards the end, there is a quite "goodbye" followed by the coolest melodic guitar riff I have ever heard. It includes heavy distortion, a great combination of guitar work and overall just amazing tone and creativity. After they finish the whole riff once, they begin again and start a wailing Kirk solo. The solo is full of quick finger movements and triads and was named the 26th greatest guitar solo ever recorded according to Guitar World. These solos are the ones that make me angry when people say "Kirk sucks" or "He's just a shredder." All three "solos" in this song are full of soul, talent, and skill. Overall, obviously, this song is an 11 out of 10. It combines the softer, quiter talent in Metallica along with the hardcore incredible skill that Metallica consists of. By the way, if anyone didn't know that's my favorite Metallica song. |
Nice one.

Nice review, That riff at 3:56 is one of the coolest riffs i have ever heard in my Fuckin life
My favorite lyrics in that song are no one but me can save myself but it's too late now i can think, think why i should even try Yesterday seems as though it never existed but death greets me warm, now i will just say good bye Goodbye" Coolest lyrics ever. I would give the song a 10/10 |

U know what im sick of. everyone saying Metallica are sellouts because they sued napster. I live in Oregon and all i hear about is how people hate them and how they suck. Am i missing something or is everyone crazy ive listened to Metallica since i was born. in 84 when i was born the only way i would go to sleep is when my parents would play RTL or kill em all. Music has gone way downhill and im sick of all these people who take what they hear on the news and think that they are right. Metallica did NOT sue napster they started to and dropped the lawsuit...sorry i had to get that out of my system some people just make me mad. When Metallica releases their next album i hope it Knocks all of those boybands off the top just like st anger did
|
...sorry for the rant
"Sellouts?, the only thing we sellout is the stadium everytime we play!" |

Sick review Gocaps :)
We're pretty much on par for liking that song, I think. Although, sometimes I really like (prefer?) Orion. |
what Metallica song would be good too learn to play bass, something easy but more then just a few riffs, ive learned Motorbreath and My Friend of Misery but they are pretty easy. i want something that will take a little more effort but will not be too hard, Metallica is just too good hard to learn their stuff. any suggestions would be cool if any of u play bass
|
My review of the four horsemen is on pg875 if anyone wants to see it.
Try learning for whom the bell tolls or call of ktulu |
Bells is actually pretty easy for bass, it took me one or two tries to nail it (7 months playing)...I'd say learn Puppets, Battery, or Blackened.
|
yeah bells is also one i learned its basically a finger exercise but i will try those u guys suggested...ive been playing my bass for a year and i suck...i need lessons its hard to learn on your own. Thanks guys
METALLICA RULEZ!! |
Try the Call Of Ktulu on bass for fun. There is a good tab on mxtabs which is really hard to play with really fast hammers and pull-offs and stuff. Fun!

Some Metallica News....
Lars Spotted at SOAD Gig According to the Contra Costa Times, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich was seen "bashing air drums in the balcony" during SYSTEM OF A DOWN's gig at the Fillmore in San Francisco Monday night (April 25). METALLICA are expected to begin recording the follow-up to 2003's "St. Anger" later in the year for an early 2006 release. |
Someone review a song, how about something from ReLoad.

Uoh oh, attack of the fanboys ! Every single member of Testament, past and present has been / is better than every member of Metallica. Theyre far better song writers and are better than Metallica live, by a very very very long shot. |

I think Testament are ok accually, I wouldn't of heard of them if it wasn't for the interview with the lead singer... He was saying how much Metallica has influenced the band.... This was on a DVD I have called Metallica - Dark Souls... I am not a fan boy of Metallica, And I think that Testament are very very Underated.. In all honesty 99% of people I know have never heard of Testament in the U.K... |
hmm, almost interesting.

Ah well. Being the 'best' band is all subject to personal preference. Some people may think that Busted are a better band than Testament or Metallica. You and I know they're wrong, but if they enjoy their music more, who is to say they're wrong? Obviously someone is getting enjoyment out of the music, which is what its about, not rivalry between bands' fans. Not everyone can listen to metal, or even the same metal bands. People are diverse. Live with it. No amount of talent can save bad music or just music people don't want to listen to if executed in some ways.
However, I like Metallica better than most bands, so I wouldn't worry about my liking Busted or something ;) |

Psh, you know what I mean. We know that in our opinion that they're wrong. Better? :P

I agree with u fat bandit but there are bands that should not even be where they are today...for example boybands...they really have no talents but people still listen to them that does not make them good that just means that people didnt grow up with the good music and the good people like us who listen to the good music. Dont get me wrong i respect anybody who tries to start a band but if they dont play instruments and they lip sync how can i respect that? u cant bands like Metallica get called sell outs while all these other bands start out as sell outs. Sorry but i have no respect for any band that cant write, sing, or play there own music. Metallica has kept it real whether people like them or not you have to respect what they have given to music and their fans...but anyway...im ranting again so ill stop.
