That's even more brilliant. I've never heard the phrase, though, so I feel like I'm missing out.

spirit 05-11-2012 02:23 PM

it's the same as "head over heels", though it has remained a reference to someone falling over

one does not fall arse over tit in love

gaslight 05-11-2012 09:46 PM

Yeah vouch for that phrase, it's a big one over here.

FunkMetalBass 05-13-2012 10:12 PM

Arizona gets robbed of all the cool phrases. Damn.

gaslight 05-14-2012 06:04 AM

Stone the crows.

Pastorius 05-14-2012 06:20 AM

pretty sure arse over tit is a british thing originally

we probably shipped it out to aus with all the filthy criminals arf arf arf

spirit 05-14-2012 07:10 AM

i was interested to see it recognised by one colonial but not another

then again, oz still has the union flag on their flag, whereas i seem to recall the us got all pissy about our fabulous rule

gaslight 05-14-2012 07:30 AM

Dinky di.

FunkMetalBass 05-14-2012 08:30 AM

All this aussie talk is makin' me hungry. I could go for a fat, juicy roo steak right now.

gaslight 05-14-2012 08:36 AM

I've still never tried one haha.

There are roos up at my dad's place.

FunkMetalBass 05-14-2012 09:05 AM

Have you ever jumped inside of its pouch and frolicked through the meadows?

gaslight 05-14-2012 09:36 AM

Nah man they'll kill ya.

FunkMetalBass 05-14-2012 09:42 AM

But they're so cute and lovable!

FunkMetalBass 05-14-2012 11:36 AM

Well, it's official. In January, I'll be doing the Tough Mudder race. It's a 12-mile run designed by the British Special Forces where they put obstacles every half mile. I will most assuredly be both electrocuted and tossed into a pool of ice water.

gaslight 05-14-2012 10:12 PM

They had something by the name here. Is it a fundraiser for something?

Yeah wallabies are cute, they're tiny. Full size roos well, if they're domesticated are pretty chill but a wild one can just straight up kick your face off.

BenJammin 05-14-2012 11:30 PM

wut

Spaceman Spiff 05-15-2012 06:55 AM

I got an EBow. Next step is getting good at using it. Thankfully it's pretty easy to pick up and just use, but it seems like it'll take some practice to get good with it.

It's definitely a charity event, but I'm not entirely sure who the money goes to. I think it's for the veterans. Either way, I'd best start training a little harder than going to the gym only twice a week.

On a bass-related note, I'm having some electronics trouble with my Spector. I'm not sure where the problem is inside the bass, but I'm tired of fumbling around with the insane amounts of electronics inside of it to troubleshoot. Should I remove the onboard tremolo effect and put it into a pedal housing?

gaslight 05-15-2012 10:01 AM

Yeah man fuck onboard tremolo if it's causing hassles.

My fretless came with the E string action set a bit too low, had too much buzz for my liking from like 3rd fret back to the nut so I just raised the action a bit and now she's smooth enough.

Oooh, I'll have to try that.

I can't wait until I'm really good with it because I'm already getting some sweet sounds from it. Arpeggios also sound totally badass with it.

gaslight 05-16-2012 10:21 AM

How do you use it? I've never had my hands on one.

Pastorius 05-16-2012 12:03 PM

i think it's an magnetic field that vibrates the string, or stimulates the pickup or something

this is a guess

FunkMetalBass 05-16-2012 02:01 PM

this

BenJammin 05-16-2012 07:42 PM

I used my eBow to the point where I probably need to replace it. It's about 7 years old at this point.

gaslight 05-16-2012 10:32 PM

So it's like a laser pointer that you aim at the string(s) you want to play, and use your left hand as normal?

BenJammin 05-17-2012 04:25 PM

I'm going to retune my bass in 5ths. I love it so much on my tenor guitar. It just makes sense to me. So instead of being B-C, I'm going to tune A-G#. Increased range ftw.

correcting my poor grammar and not being an ass about it

you are truly a good guy greg

BenJammin 05-18-2012 12:09 AM

Going to be an interesting set of strings when they get here.

A = .158
E = .102
B = .070
F# = .041
C# = .022 (unwound)
G# = .015 (unwound)

Looks like someone finally took my advice about Circle K strings. :) Let me know what you think of them.
